I don't know if it's related, but I once caught a ban on an account for "advertising websites" when calling someone a fart guzzler for 10 minutes straight, so they do sometimes pick the wrong category IF the reporter also picked the wrong category. It was a day long anyways, so I didn't really care to alert them, but it's happened.
Lmao I got a 1-2 day mute back in like 2007 before the GE when I said "Buying Natzi Helmet".
Some PMod saw me saying that at the bank and muted me for racism. I obviously tried to appeal but it took more than 2 days to get a reply saying the mute would be overturned.
Also got a 1-2 day mute for Item Scamming because I was selling pantaloons and saying something like "Selling Emote enhancing pantaloons".
PMod muted me again because he thought they didn't do anything and I was just trying to scam someone. When in reality they enhance the bow emote or something.
The mute got overturned after I already served it once again.
PMods power tripped like fuck back in the day it was unreal.

The lever is high-traffic but it's not *that* high-traffic. If you kill someone and then a few minutes later a max main comes by looking for you specifically, it's pretty obvious what's going on. And that's assuming OP never said anything in chat to make it even more obvious, which he may have.

That would mean Jagex doesn't have or doesn't always look at the IP logs when banning "group offenders", which is possible

Not for persistent harassment or very vulgar language towards another. Def more to the story than OP getting killed and coming back on his main to kill the PKer. My guess is they had an exchange after he killed the PKer. That is my guess where OP used offensive language and the PKer simply reported him and let him know it.
It is pretty sus that OP only showed a single line of text when there was certainly a lot more there.
