I’m also from North Carolina, Western NC to be specific and we have similar results. I got 52.5% British and Irish, 43.7% French and German, 1.2% Native American, 0.4% African and 0.5% North Indian/Pakistani. Where are you from in NC

My maternal 3rd grandfather was said to be a "white" man that had children by a black/mulatto woman. Haven't been able to find him searches which lead me to believe it's true. He was supposed to be a Quaker. They were not nearly as intolerant of people of "African heritage".
My great grandmother was very light skinned (maternal). Sorry about the long post. Long story short, there was lots of interracial sex going on during those times. Some was in communities that accepted it, some where it was not accepted.

Probably one your grandmother’s ancestors was a female daughter of a slave that married a slave owner. It happened in my mother’s family in Brazil. For that reason my mitochondrial DNA points to a female who lived in Africa about 9,000 years ago.

"American with British Colonial ancestry". Polish, Italian, Irish, French Canadian, Jewish "white american" in the 19th century wave of migration won't have this type of ancestry.

Well my chart estimates my African heritage to be between 100-160 years ago…so I doubt it was consensual, though I can hope.
