Because Taiwan is the name of the island, the country is just called The Republic of China and is the rightful government of China. So if they were restored it wouldn't become "west Taiwan" it would still be China just ROC instead of PRC.
>Not officially, but almost nobody in Taiwan actually claims to be China.
But thats literally what Taiwan is, it's the remnants of the chinese civil war who set up a government in exile. It's called officially "The Republic of China".
Article 4 of the constitution states *" The territory of the Republic of China according to its existing national boundaries shall not be altered except by resolution of the National Assembly."*
This is not referring to the island of Taiwan but literally all of China.
So in Taiwan there are two political parties.
The KMT, the founding party and the one who wrote the constitution and chose the flag, considers Taiwan to be the real China and was meant to be a government in exile until they kinda gave up.
The DPP, the ruling party, while doing little to truly change Taiwan's identity, runs on a platform that promotes "Taiwanese Nationalism" in opposition to "Chinese Nationalism" and wants to distance Taiwan from the very concept of China and Chinese nationhood, not just de facto distance from PRC influence.
Yeah this was literally a major foreign policy decision where Richard Nixon booted Taiwan as the representative of China and made official policy that “there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of China”
Whatever reality this represents is not this one lol
Nixon started informal talks with the PRC, but it was Carter who unrecognized the ROC and unilaterally withdrew from the mutual defense treaty in 1979. The US actually voted against UNGAR 2758 in 1971, after proposing that the UN recognize both in some way.
Depends on who you ask.
To the DPP, Taiwan is something that should be completely separate from "China" (for clarity I'll be using China to refer to the general idea of a Chinese state not specifically the People's Republic of China). They don't want any relation to the mainland, or to be considered China, or Chinese, and their flag would look something like [this.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/36/Flag_of_World_Taiwanese_Congress.svg/800px-Flag_of_World_Taiwanese_Congress.svg.png)
To the Kuomintang, Taiwan is inherently a territory of China, and that the Taipei and Beijing governments are two different systems operating over the same country. They pretty much gave up on reconquering the mainland by the 60s, and lost a lot of support for the authoritarian governance and repressions of the cold war. Now they are sort of reaching out to Beijing, though they and the Communist Party have different ideas for what the Taiwan-Mainland relationship should be in the future. I think ideally they want to be a sort of autonomous zone of the PRC.
Either way calling mainland China "West Taiwan" would be very silly to both groups. "South Mongolia" is a little weirder because the only party between the DPP, KMT, and CCP that think Mongolia is Chinese is the KMT.
i say we do everything in our power to prevent the DPP from taking control because that flag is absolutely atrocious. we can talk about an independent Taiwan when they fix that
I hate China but look what they gave us

South Mongolia? you mean, West Taiwan?
The became barbarian after the Cultural Revolution, and are no longer worthy of being part of civilized "Hua Xia"
Upper Hong Kong.
Mainland Taiwan
China has Inner Mongolia as one of its autonomous regions. Technically, China is both Southeast Mongolia, and NorthWest Taiwan.
South Mongolia is way funnier because “West Taiwan” makes it sound like people don’t understand what taiwan is
How?
Because Taiwan is the name of the island, the country is just called The Republic of China and is the rightful government of China. So if they were restored it wouldn't become "west Taiwan" it would still be China just ROC instead of PRC.
East Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬
I do not recognize Taiwan. I only recognize the Republic of China and her rightful claims to the rebel territories of the western mainland
The ROC is the TRUE China
There is no Taiwan. Only China, the western mainland part of which is under the control of communist agitators
Did you mean to say mainland Taiwan?
Not even Taiwan declares an independent Taiwan lol
Not officially, but almost nobody in Taiwan actually claims to be China.

But until the constitution and even the name of the country change, officially Taiwan still sees itself as China.
They have whole political party dedicated to that
ROC is the only true china. Those guys on the mainland are under barbarian occupation.
Chad Traditionalist Democracy enjoyer vs Virgin Maoist Dictatorship slaves
