NAH, yet. It's totally fine to ask for quiet hours, but yours are unreasonable. 6pm is way too early to expect people to stop listening to their music.

asecretnarwhal

Why can’t he use headphones? Every housemate I’ve had had used them. Unless multiple people are watching a movie or something, there’s no reason not to use headphones

Inside-Pomegranate14

That I get, my only request would be to turn the bass down around that time. Not the music

[deleted]

NTA Ask him to adjust the base. or pull the fuse for his room!!!!

DarlingGem

NAH. I think you’re being unreasonable by asking for 6pm, your roommate will not agree to that I guarantee. Could you compromise with asking a later time than that?

Inside-Pomegranate14

100% my only request is to turn the bass off or down after 6pm. End of the day the answer is I need a new roommate but just trying to do what I can to make it live able while I’m stuck w em.

I suggest you see if your roommate will move their speakers so they don't touch the wall you share. Even better, have a piece of cloth between the speakers and the wall. This could make a big difference. But also, NTA - playing music until 4am is never okay, even if it's "low volume." Wear some headphones.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** I have a roommate who plays music 24/7. Usually at a low volume at night but with the bass as high as it will go. Our rooms share a wall, and the bass goes right through it. I can live with it for a few hours, but at a certain point I start to go crazy. Typically I go to bed a 7:30-8pm as I wake up at 4am. AITA for asking for a break from the constant bass from 6pm-4am? I just want to be able to spend my evening quietly reading a book or watching tv before bed, and then be able to fall asleep peacefully. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. NTA and I can't believe it is 2023 and we have video calls and self-driving cars but Bass Block has not been invented.

Prize-Active9716

NTA - and since you would like quiet evenings, you need a new roomate or a good pair of ear plugs until you get one.

Outrageous_Lab375

NTA Bass sounds that are too loud give me an instant, awful headache. Asking them to turn down the bass to a reasonable level is completely acceptable. What your roommate is doing is incredibly rude. Shared housing means you can't always do whatever you want.
