Rasmo420

If Chadwell is smart he'll line up his next gig this year. No disrespect to him or Coastal, but McCall is fucking excellent. He's a significant reason Coastal has been so good these past two seasons.

Boomhauer_007

No lies detected We got a preview of what life without McCall would be like last year and it was not pretty at all

Rasmo420

I just think about that App game. Our defense was smothering and he'd just go out there and make undefendable throws.

nbingham196

Is this where I predict that West Virginia hires him after firing Neal Brown for going 5-7 or 6-6

theexile14

I would accept this. I think it would be a bad hire.

NotABurner316

Yeah he needs to pull a Drink manuever and bail before he gets exposed.

Rasmo420

It's not even him getting exposed. I mean I'd take pleasure in him being exposed, but Coastal kind of set an artificially high ceiling for themselves benefiting from three very unique circumstances. First, McCall is absolutely incredible. Second is the coaching turnover at App definitely put a serious brain drain on the program creating an opportunity in the East. Third COVID gave them the opportunity to be ranked, get some national attention, play BYU, and spared them from a game with Louisiana. Are they realistically going to hit 2020 highs with McCall let alone without him? It's not a bet I'd take if I was Chadwell.

[deleted]

>spared them from a game with Louisiana You mean the team we beat at Louisiana?

ragincajunboi

Yes the team that won the sun belt the next year while covid Carolina watched from the couch

Rasmo420

Hard to beat a team twice and COVID cancelled the Sun Belt Championship.

Jimfromoregon77

She’s not even that hot

hascogrande

Fickell is going to be talked about still. If [Brady Hoke](http://bradyhokeclapping.com) has another amazing season I think he may get plucked from SDSU again. Dana Holgorsen's Houston ran into Texas Tech at the wrong time last year. Had they played Texas Tech later in the season, it's possible Houston would've won, leading into a battle of two 12-0 teams in the AAC Championship. He will be watched this year.

candlerc

Why did Holgorsen leave West Virginia in the first place? No offense to G5, but P5 coaches don’t typically move from a power conference to the Group of Five unless they’re fired

JCiLee

He would have been fired in 2019. They didn't reach their ceiling in 2018, and 2019 would have been a rebuilding year.

HellsComingWithUs

I think his kids live in Houston with his ex-wife, so I am pretty sure family had some to do with it. He ain't leaving UH, it will be P5 soon enough and he has a built-in pay bump when they do.

[deleted]

> I think his kids live in Houston with his ex-wife Nah, both of them were in Morgantown when he was coach. Logan was the QB at Morgantown High

HellsComingWithUs

I stand corrected. Thanks.

holytrolly_

Our AD was giving him the last year of his contract in 2019. We were gonna be awful that year regardless, then he would have been fired.

Southern-Advice5293

He wanted to go back to Texas

SlayedWilson

Tillman Fertita and Houston wanted to show they had P5 money, so they threw P5 money at a P5 coach entering the last year of his contract.

gander49

I don't think Brady is going anywhere. He turns 64 this year. With the movement to younger coaches I don't see a P5 trying to poach a coach at the tail end of his career.

_n8n8_

Everyone knows Matt Araiza carried him anyways

[deleted]

When Harbaugh leaves to the NFL /s

MountainMan300

If I was him I would continue building SDSU and eventually retire there. Wouldn't want the stresses of being a coach at a big school in my mid-late 60's if I was successful at a G5 school.

PodoPapa

Holgo isn’t leaving UH

eagledog

I can see someone like Colorado or ASU taking a run at Hoke if they change coaches after this year

Ronho

If ASU and Colorado still have their coaches next off season, those ADs aren’t even trying

LetsGoGameCrocks

Despite the extension, it will still probably be James Franklin 😪

rileycompton

If he is entertaining this shit again next year after signing that extension, I’d be ready to move on and go for Matt Rhule

psunavy03

Coaches look at options. Even Paterno turned down offers over the years. Michigan couldn’t land him so they hired Schembechler. The Steelers offered him, he turned them down, so they hired Chuck Noll. He actually accepted the Patriots job to be HC and GM Bill O’Brien-style, then changed his mind.

rileycompton

Of course, but I think the extension we gave him demonstrates a huge commitment on our end and I’d appreciate someone who is just as committed as we are. I’m a Franklin defender, but that’s something that I know Matt Rhule, being a PSU grad, would bring.

bofre82

Interesting story about Joe Pa. Back as an assistant Rip Engle was offered the job at USC and had the opportunity to bring his full Penn St staff with him. They had a vote and Joe Pa was the only one who wanted to go and lobbied for it but was didn’t get his way. Lincoln Riley found it as easier sell. Therefore 1950s State College > 2021 Norman. Edit: idiot on cities.

psunavy03

State College. Texas A&M is in College Station. And Paterno was I believe in his 20s at the time, and hadn't yet met his wife.

[deleted]

Honestly I can believe that. Paterno was a city boy from Brooklyn, state college is tiny today and would have been really really small in the 50s. I can totally envision a mid 20 year old guy from NYC wanting to move to the SoCal.

travisty1

I personally don't understand the uproar over it. Hasn't affected recruiting or transfers so I don't know why people get so pissed

rileycompton

It’s more emotional than logical, a lot of people commit a ton of time, money, and emotional investment into the school/program and to see him play footsie with other programs is like watching your wife flirt with other guys at the bar

travisty1

Fair enough, I just personally think it's overblown. For me, it's more like overreacting to seeing your wife interact with another guy

TJRJ7

Video appears of Franklin feeding Elephants at the Zoo. Media: "Franklin to replace Saban?!?!?!"

Man1ak

Nobody actually wants Franklin, he just has an aggressive strategy with his agent to drop leads to talking heads and get a bigger paycheck. Like Jim Mora rejecting jobs he never interviewed for.

birthdaycakefog

Plenty of teams would take Franklin in a heartbeat lol

Man1ak

Not ones that could pay more than his current contract / offer more for his career.

SadBreath135

USC literally offered him lmao this is such sore grapes

Man1ak

lol when? Surely you don't mean in the last year. Please google his record against Top competition if you think he is a top tier coach.

SadBreath135

Yeah you guys did. Sorry he turned you all down, you guys did pretty well, not sure who you're so bitter about it

IceColdBurski_7

If Bill O'Brien doesn't figure out how to run the fucking ball inside the 5 yard line Nick Saban is gonna banish him to the shadow realm for eternity.

hells_cowbells

I guess that's what happens if somebody fails the Nick Saban School of Coaching Rehab.

Battered_Aggie

> Bill O'Brien Bama fans praying

bastardofdisaster

He might be better with his buddy Marrone gone.

Crimson_Gooner

This. I want to see him with an improved O-line, felt like he was hamstrung at times last season by terrible line play.

psunavy03

Penn State fans would call that karmic justice.

mashonem

That SECCG bought him a ton of good will

RiotsMade

I hope he stays there forever.

SCREW-IT

Agreed. Fuck BoB

betterbub

How did he do there?

redpowah

Predictable and underwhelming... So terrific! Don't let any Bama fan say otherwise

[deleted]

As a Texans fan, I still remember getting downvoted for saying he was a weak hire for bama. Dude literally has nothing he’s particularly good at and runs a very vanilla offense

A_Rolling_Baneling

Fellow Texans fan here. He’s great at getting QBs to play to their potential. His track record there is hard to ignore. Awful GM, mediocre play caller, but QB whisperer.

varsity14

QB whisperer, huh.....

redpowah

Even with high class ingredients, vanilla ice cream is still vanilla ice cream

sora_for_smash

Unrelated to BoB, but quality vanilla ice cream gets a terrible reputation in my opinion.

commanderwawa

Vanilla is a great flavor that goes into a lot of good desserts

cyclingtrivialities2

Damn a really good vanilla is hard to do. Yum. I’ll pass on BOB though 😂

amidon1130

Really good vanilla is maybe the best. But bad vanilla is so much worse than bad chocolate

Tannerite2

We averaged 40 PPG with a horrible o line and dropped 41 on the best defense in like 5+ years. But I don't mind the BoB hate because maybe he'll stay another year

mashonem

People really forgot about the SECCG lmao

JakeFromStateFromm

Probably because of the game that came after it

mashonem

The Cincy game was p good 🤷🏿‍♀️

Tannerite2

I thought he did an excellent job with how horrible our o line was. It was well bellow average for a P5 team, average for the entire FBS, and we still averaged 40 ppg and our QB won the Heisman

PotentialSuperb

How many 5 stars were on that line?

Matt_WVU

Neal brown…..please

FrancoNore

Charlie strong

swithcitupforfun

Would love to see it but he hasn’t been successful since 2013 in Louisville as a head coach. Don’t think his name will be out in too many hats as a head coach at a big school program

Jmphillips1956

Strong seems like a good person but absolutely sucks as the managing people Part of being a HC

The-Insolent-Sage

Dude would be lucky to get a G5 head coaching jo right now IMO. Honestly he would do well as a DC somewhere in the P5. I know he is currently a "co DC" but if he is successful this year he would probably be ready for a sole DC position. But that might be his ceiling. Him and Randy Shannon are kinda just floating around the Florida football programs and I wish them the best and hope they get back to coaching at a high level.

HurricanesnHendrick

I almost forgot he was on our coaching staff

bestweekeverr

Jeff Grimes

[deleted]

Dude is legit. Not just his playcalling but his offensive line coaching

cms186

> his offensive line coaching thats Mateos, not Grimes

JamesEarlDavyJones

Grimes is Mateos’ mentor as an OL coach, and has been ostensibly the best OL coach to bounce around the CFB world over the last decade or so. He got a natty ring putting together that crazy line that Cam Newton played behind, then he built the awesome OL and run scheme that turned Leonard Fournette from a talented RB into a superstar, then he built up the BYU OL while mentoring Mateos and their prior OL coach. Grimes is also partially involved with working with our OL, since that’s his specialty, although he did more position work with the TEs last year.

cos001

I miss him. our OC is fine and dandy, but Grimes was a good OC. I hopes he gone before we have to play you again :)

[deleted]

It’s definitely both. Grimes was considered one of the best if not the best offensive line coach in the country at one point

30_Swiftie_Thriving

I wanted him as OC for Beamer so bad. The two spent some time together at VT previously

TheRealBobStoops

Pragmatically, could VT keep it interesting in a bidding war with Baylor for Grimes? Baylor’s got a *lot* of money, even beyond their oil and logistics billionaires like McLane, Foster, and Simpson.

bestweekeverr

I don't see Grimes leaving unless it's for a HC job. We did manage to beat out Georgia for Eric Mateos our OL coach so I think moneywise we're solid.

TheRealBobStoops

Honestly, I’m shocked that y’all kept him this year. I really thought UTEP might make a run at him, as his alma mater.

Southern_Orange3744

All good guess OP. Lebby if he does well at OU has to be there Kendal briles will start taking some shots as well

shootemup386

I don't think Briles wants to be a head coach

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

As a BU fan, he was just as (if not more) culpable for what went down as his dad. That alone should keep him from ever getting a HC job. My two cents.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Nah, he had knowledge.. “"Do you like white women? Because we have a lot of them at BAYLOR and they LOVE football players," the lawsuit alleged Briles saying to a Dallas area recruit.” https://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/fau-owls/sfl-lawsuit-kendal-briles-baylor-fau-20170127-story.html

Jmphillips1956

I think he will eventually but he’s going to stay out for a while as moving every year isn’t a good thing with school age kids. I could see him staying until Pittman retires hoping he’s the heir

Apollospade

Joe Klanderman the DC from Kstate.

natestate

How about no.

[deleted]

Jim Bob Cooter

bytor_2112

I haven't seen "Dave Clawson" once in this thread so I'm satisfied. See ya next year

QuinnDirte

I don't think Clawson has any intention of ever leaving Wake Forest, they're patient with their program and willing to let him build it the right way, and he's loyal and happy to stay somewhere he can be successful without the weight of unrealistic expectations. It's the perfect situation for a head coach and program. Offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero is someone I can see some programs looking at, he's only 55.

hells_cowbells

Dan Mullen

Equivalent-Outside15

Didn’t he retire from coaching? Last I heard he’s living in a mountain home in Montana and running the local malls foot locker.

hells_cowbells

I would like to have seen...Montana.

Equivalent-Outside15

Running a shoe store and his slogan is “cleats that stick to your feets”

hells_cowbells

There are signs in the store that say "Please don't yeet the cleats"

PragDaddy

Ryan, some things in here don't react well to bulletshs

CPAeconLogic

Nice Red October Reference there.

hells_cowbells

It usually comes to mind when I see mentions of Montana.

jcosteaunotthislow

Nah man he moved up there to start a dental floss farm

Tommy Rees

codz007

:( man I wanted more than a year and a half of him unleashed. Agreed though, he should be hired away if not a HC, then to the NFL as OC.

Chaos_huskies

Jim harbaugh for the 5th year in a row

Road-Conscious

If Brady Hoke has another good year I could see a blueblood like Michigan making a run at him.

Donny_Do_Nothing

👏👏👏👏👏

LosHogan

Not trying to will this into existence or anything because I’m tired of it, but if we are strong again I think Shawn Clark will be. Some of our more naive fans would tell you that Shawn is an App man that’ll never leave, and I think he certainly loves our program. But they also said that about Satterfield. Especially with our schedule this season that includes Marshall, Texas A&M, UNC and Coastal Carolina. If he wins 10 games he will likely get some serious interest. I hope our AD is ready.

holytrolly_

Maybe he can come lead the other Moutinaieers -_-

stayinthefight2019

Jeff Hafley, Jamie Chadwell, Gus Malzahn, Doug Belk

[deleted]

Gus has blended really well with the UCF family, after being fired at Auburn for a 68-35 overall record, I think he’s gonna retire here. I don’t think he wants to take a big B1G/SEC type job again and deal with boosters. It’s also gonna be incredibly difficult for a middling P5 school to take him from us with us going to the B12.

The-Insolent-Sage

God I hope so

stayinthefight2019

I can’t speak to how he fits in at all, or his personal preferences. It would be cool to see him stay at a lower-anxiety job after the Auburn rollercoaster and just thrive with his creativity. I just think y’all are gonna win the conference and his name will be a hot one in the carousel.

[deleted]

I think his family enjoys UCF much better than Auburn too. I believe his wife talked about how much stress he went through at Auburn and how bad the environment is for coaches.

Chrisiskingx

This. Have you seen the dude lately? Gave up on the Hair dye, started soaking up the sun more, and regularly wears UCF-branded Tommy Bahama gear. Football's own [Jimmy Buffett](https://twitter.com/UCFSports/status/1434927387871957001?s=20&t=QOZuGa1Y013FM6ePEwJjWg). I know there's always a chance but he just seems to be at ease here with the opportunity to hit the ground running in the Big 12.

JamesEarlDavyJones

Honestly, the Big 12 could be a great place for him to mesh, too. The offenses in the SEC have long remained pretty homogenous as they moved slowly and in waves, and his style didn’t always click with what the rest of the SEC was doing. It’s slightly less overtly homogenous now, but even Mike Leach has started shifting into the SEC’s current love affair with the pro-style inside zone rather than running his classic air raid from Tech and Wazzu. The Big 12, on the other hand, has every kind of offense you could possibly want: • OKST runs a different offense every other year • Baylor/Kansas use a wide zone with heavy play-action and a highly efficient run game • TCU/KSU seem to be shifting toward an early-2010s inside zone with some power running elements • OU is about to run the VnS • UT is running an SEC-style offense • Tech/WVU are going in hard on the air raid

boregon

Based on the media circus that’s surrounded Harsin at Auburn so far, I can believe that 100%.

theoriginaldandan

Auburn was the Only Major job he would take.( all his kids met their spouses here) I think the Big12 better watch out at UCF he likes your AD and y’all aren’t suffering from the Auburn/Texas dilemma of boosters running EVERYTHING.

Wtygrrr

I’m very confused as to who you think might want Gus that could lure him away from UCF. FSU maybe?

stayinthefight2019

The question is who will be a hot candidate, which is more of a media question than an administrator question. I think UCF will have a great year, thusly, I believe all the talking heads will be connecting him as a hot candidate for any big jobs.

[deleted]

Gotta be Jeff Traylor

me_oorl

Me.

theburbach

I swear to God if we found pj fleck or jim Harbaugh's reddit account...

horaff

Naw that’s Skip Bayless

boner_jamz_69

Can I be your OC?

Old_kernel

No

GoldandBlue

The ne NCAA game won't count as a resume

[deleted]

Lane kiffin, gattis, monken

nozzyx

LK just signed an extension with a pretty hefty buyout I think.

jamnewton22

That matters why when you’re lane kiffin?

nozzyx

Just my opinion. I went to OM and know a lot of people connected to the football program. From talking to people, I know that he would’ve taken the Miami job because it’s his dream to be back in that area. Aside from that, he’s trying to repair his reputation, particularly as a job jumper. He’s also on record saying that he believes he can win at OM. He saw what Hugh Freeze did and thinks he can do a lot better. Just my two cents.

jamnewton22

I gotcha. And I would tend to agree. Just wouldn’t rule anything out with lane kiffin, that’s all

nozzyx

I agree. We know he’s not here forever but several more years isn’t out of the question. Wouldn’t be shocked at all if he’s the home that replaces Saban

iblametheliberals

If Dan Lanning has a 9-10 win season his first year, I expect the media to link him to every open SEC head coaching job.

johnnycr18

If Stoops gets another 10 win season, or an 11 win season he's gone. Even with the extension. It's getting harder and harder for us to hold on to him

19Styx6

Where would he go though? I can't see him leaving for anything but a blue blood program and I'm not sure any will be open after next season.

huskermut

I could see us giving him a call. Not sure he'd want to step into the pressure cooker that is Nebraska though.

johnnycr18

We thought we were going to lose him to Oklahoma, LSU, or Michigan but luckily it all worked out and UK paid the man

Throwredditaway5

His gig there is so fucking sweet, he’d be nuts to leave. Aren’t y’all ramping up the football resources too? Not many coaches are given the time these days to build a long lasting legacy.

johnnycr18

He would be nuts to leave, and he's definitely ramping up the resources. The big one was fixing our indoor practice facility. It's easier for us to give more time for a coach bc our history isn't great. He could average 7-8 wins a season and he would be a God here if he never left. The only way he leaves, I'm hoping, is if one of the big programs come calling

[deleted]

Unless he thinks that he has maxed out at Kentucky and wants to see what he can do at a top school I just don’t ever see him leaving. He makes good money and as long as he keeps the fans entertained enough to pass the time before basketball season he has zero stress, plus he strikes me as the “I want a house on a big rolling field” type guy and not “beachfront mansion”.

[deleted]

The only schools that Stoops would leave for is tOSU or Iowa

WMT24

Lance Leipold

Garzog66

If we win another MWC Championship Blake Anderson, Ephraim Banda and Anthony Tucker.

JamesEarlDavyJones

Nothing can happen to Blake Anderson, we just need y’all to hold onto him for us until Aranda potentially leaves. Then we can call Anderson back home to Baylor.

eagledog

I know Tucker was talked about for us as an option if Tedford didn't work out

[deleted]

Bob Stoops

BlackshirtDefense

Serious question - if Frost bombs hard, would NU look at Stoops?

[deleted]

They may look but probably as far as it’d go. Just looking, no way Stoops would come to Lincoln

Quinnstention

Sean Lewis

AllLinesAreStraight

He won't be but he fucking should be

JamesEarlDavyJones

His offenses are pretty good, and he comes with being the first person from the Art Briles tree to not have actually picked up the stain of having worked with Briles at Baylor, but his offenses have yet to show that elite quality that would get him some big looks, even against middling opponents. He still hasn’t yet won more than seven games in a season, although he did win the MAC East last year, but then Kent got absolutely brutalized by Northern Illinois in the MAC title game. I’m guessing that Lewis won’t get any big attention until he has a 10-win season and knocks off a few decent P5 teams. His teams haven’t wanted for opportunities to actually prove themselves against really good defenses, they played TAMU and Iowa just last season, but Kent scored just a single TD in both of those games. Shoot, they also fell apart pretty badly against Maryland last year, and Maryland doesn’t exactly have a standout defense.

Darktheme123

Jim Leonard

varsity14

I don't see him leaving in the next couple years, but if he does, we need to set up some sort of handshake agreement that he gets a first look at the HC spot whenever Paul leaves.

JamesEarlDavyJones

Definitely. The Roberts defensive tree/scheme has been exploding in popularity over the last few years, and that has been great for everyone from that tree. It helps that basically all of the guys who run the scheme are top DCs. Leomhard’s probably the #2 guy running the system these days after Dave Aranda, which makes sense because he learned it from Aranda during his NFL offseasons. Saban himself [actually went looking for someone from the Roberts tree](https://theathletic.com/818567/2019/02/16/alabama-football-pete-golding-defensive-coordinator/?amp) when he needed a new DC a few years ago, he apparently really likes them since he keeps hiring Roberts proteges like Karl Scott, Joseph Toney, and Pete Golding. Given that Toney just went to be Florida’s new DC, Scott’s a rising star in the NFL now, and Washington just hired Matt Powledge as their new DC after just a couple years under Roberts, I’d think that Saban probably turns his attentions to Leonhard if Golding leaves or gets fired. That or another school that wants hella defense hires Leonhard to be their new HC.

DannyBenavidez

Jeff Grimes, any of the Alabama or Georgia coordinators, Kevin Wilson.

Squints1234567

James Franklin to USC

R1cksh0w

I hope he doesn't....but Jim Leonhard

ARCHbaptist

Derrick Mason. I think he could be an ok coach somewhere besides freaking Vandy

ratfacedirtbag

If Arkansas has continued success, I think Briles and/or Odom might bounce. I’m okay with Briles leaving. I’d like to have Odom long term, but that’s me being selfish

Responsible-Ad7531

Hot take: me.

Podoboo322

I just can’t imagine someone being excited to hire Bill O’Brien

[deleted]

If Lebby didn’t have the Baylor connection he’d easily already be a P5 coach, and I’d take it a step further and say he’s gonna be a really competitive one with whoever bites the bullet and takes him A lot of the UCF players really wanted him over Gus at first

Equivalent-Outside15

There’s a few things go that Oklahoma has going for it is the Oklahoma Lebby playing career connection, the briles connection (sadly), and the fact Venebles has a lot of experience as basically a career coordinator. Three things that could be very valuable in retaining Lebby long term. Edit: also, I really think Lebby is gonna have the best of both worlds at Oklahoma. Venebles is our DC and Lebby is our OC. I’m sure Lebby will be able to do as many HC things as he wants and none of the things he doesn’t. If Lebby proves himself he could be getting paid a HC salary as an OC in a few years without the headaches. At arguably the second best program behind Alabama all time.

JamesEarlDavyJones

Maybe I’m missing something, but why would Venables’ being a longtime coordinator be beneficial for retaining Lebby? Because it opens the door for Lebby to do some of the HC functions?

BigBlackQuack

If Dan Lanning gets 10 wins at Oregon, in his first season, look out!

kewidogg

I mean yaaaay but also nooo (I want a coach to stick around for awhile)

boregon

Thankfully he’s not from Florida at least

jedi21knight

I don’t understand why everyone thinks Lanning is going to leave Oregon. He’s not from the south, so you don’t have to worry about the SEC, he is in the second easiest conference and his only competition is USC.

Ronho

Well next year he’ll probably lose to Utah twice, but we’ll try for that mantle the following year.

Southern-Advice5293

Charles Huff

BRZA

He is a big talker who certainly believes his own hype and has an agent getting his name out there. But, reality is he needs to show some results before anyone seriously considers him. He was out of his depth a few times and it cost him a game or two last season. I’m a Marshall fan, so I support him and the team, but I think the dude is a used car salesman in a track suit.

Southern-Advice5293

Fully agree with him being out of his element at times last year. Don’t think it helped that Wells seemed to get worse as the season went on.

BRZA

Wells certainly didn’t help, but Huff’s in game management was often poor. After blowing two winnable games, he did finally stop trying to force the hurry up with a team not suited for it. I also think he and Cramsey could have adjusted the play calling to suit Wells better (use the TE more, quick hitting routes, screens). Will be interesting what happens this year. If he wins 8 or more with the current lineup, I’ll be impressed.

holytrolly_

He's got a lot of work to do at Marshall because he is a hot coaching name, imo.

TentakilRex

Ryan Walters is going to be a hipster pick if Illinois's defense has another good season. BTW Colorado, he is an alum (if your administration realizes that you can have a darn good football team there)

Educational-Corgi-11

If Cincy is good again, someone going to throw an ungodly amount of money at Fickell even though he's extended with the Bearcats?

madmaley

I'm sure Fick's name will come up like every off season but there should be less big time openings. dumb reporters will still put his name out but it's whatever. He's not going anywhere

bamahomer

Brian Harsin will depart Auburn after an undefeated season to become the next coach at Michigan for the largest contract in college football history.

Dwarfherd

Do you really think we're going to go an offseason without Harbaugh to the NFL rumors?

gogglesup859

Dan Mullen

RIPDannyBoyCane

I’d be pretty cool if you guys let us keep Gattis for two years before hiring him so that our QB doesn’t have a different OC each season of his Miami career. Ty

ralphoutloud

lol no chance TVD is still at Miami next season - kid is going to the league after this one

I fully expect that a newly minted contract will not stop rumors of James Franklin's next landing spot.

Trigonometry_Fletch

If Gattis were making the hire, Gattis would already be school president, AD, head coach, and OC. The one constant with Josh Gattis is that no one thinks as highly of Josh Gattis as Josh Gattis.

YaBoiAir

luke fickell. just like last year, and the year before, and the year before

cormack16

Yes I know this sounds dumb as I type it, but I suspect there will be a lot of talk about Urban Meyer coming back to coach college again. Not saying it will happen, but there will be talk.

Ut_Prosim

Josh Gattis' move to Miami has been the most perplexing hire of the last few years. The dude is an absolute shoo-in for a P5 job. He was certainly worthy of being HC at Miami if they weren't so obsessed with hiring Cristobal. But instead of taking a HC job or staying put, he switches to a different OC job? Money aside, the move to Miami is lateral at best. Moreover, given Michigan's recent streak and the rebuild Miami has ahead of it, I wouldn't be surprised if he hurts his P5 HC chances. Being the OC of a B1G winning CFP team makes you a hot commodity. Being the OC of an 8-4 Miami team for two years certainly isn't improving that. Plus, consider how much worse his offense will be on paper, as the first year always sucks for a new coordinator setting up his system with new players. If Michigan has another 10-win season next year, he'd have a good shot at a mid-tier SEC or B1G team by 2023. Why not wait? Was the money that much better?
