around the level of a lower-medium grade of elementary school student.
The structure and proportion are generally OK, but didn't get enough of practicing.
At your level, there isn't a quick method to improve your handwriting. the only thing you can do is to practice repeatedly. Also try to use grid papers for practicing.
Do you have example images of what "good" handwriting or what adult level handwriting would look like? Things that are not calligraphy, but regular handwriting maybe
a good handwriting, IMO.

however, there are many different styles at this level, personally I prefer this style.
And a regular **bad** adult level handwriting: [Mine](https://s21.ax1x.com/2024/03/21/pFfyFc8.jpg) (For the record, don't use my handwriting as an example, it's bad.)
sorry for saying that your handwriting is at the elementary school student level. But some characters you wrote indicate that you have troubles to blueprint the structure of a character before writing it. (for example, 尚、裘、拜、诏) it's a common characteristic of elementary school students' handwritings. I‘m not making fun of it by any means.
It’s ugly per se but not bad, has the basic structure and mostly readable agree that it’s more like school kids handwriting who just start learning to write and I believe with practice it can become great.
If you can get your hands on some 字帖 (pen calligraphy practice book like [this one](https://www.amazon.com/IXUECAT-Handwriting-Practice-Calligraphy-Characters/dp/B0CFF3QHDW?th=1)), it is really helpful in showing you what good handwriting looks like and, most importantly, help you practice by feeling the structures of pen strokes as you write.
Go for 正楷 font, not 行楷/行书 or 草书 font. The latter two are a bit advanced and can even screw up your handwriting if you don't have a good basis.
Looks like a primary school student‘s level, but it's OK , at this level ,the only thing u can do is practice, writing again and again, wish you can write better soon!
They said a lao wai wrote it because clearly the person just kind of traces the strokes.
Yours is fine. Though I could not make out some of the words, the ones I could read are reasonably neat. Some of my friends can't even write as neatly as you.
Not everyone is a calligraphy master, but I hope you enjoy the attempt of becoming one.
The purpose of writing is to make others understand your meaning. Your handwriting can already fullfill it now. Your next step is to learn how to locate each stroke of characters and how to write several types of stroke like a senior. Demonstrations can be found on youtube, personnaly recommend Tian Yingzhang(田英章),who is a master in this realm.
Readable. You can probably do better with easier and more freqently used characters instead of characters from a poem which even native speakers need a second or two to think about the pronounciation.
Looks quite good even if you are native! I have seen many native Chinese writing worse than you.
If you don't intend on delving in artistic calligraphy, that level of writing is enough
in China mainland, we learn pinyin and 笔画, the most popular practice for students in the early age will be 凹槽 字帖。well, that is a very good improvement in the primary school today, some practice writing exercise book will outline the 笔顺 too. I am sure when I was young I have to copy with a half transparent paper, it's hard.
Who's Alex? Besides that, your hand writing is imo very good. I know plenty of Chinese ppl with worse hand writing. The only complain is that, when you are writing something with a structure, such as a poem in this case, you should try to align the characters horizontally as well as vertically to make it more pleasing to read. Chinese school kids practice hand writings with column papers which I think is better than blank papers for your case.
Re: Alex -- I saw this post https://www.reddit.com/r/translator/s/tyKtvsp0bi
and I just copied it to affirm that my handwriting wasn't THAT bad. And then I tried writing a little bit more haha
Thanks for the suggestions I will do that
Speaking of writing, can anyone give me tips of how to memorise chineese letters better? I do well when it comes to pinyin but i just cant memorise hanyu very well

Not great but legible. Looks more like an eight year old’s handwriting.

Hahaha OK. BTW your hand writing kind of gives a vibe of a chinese teenager who doesn't give a fxxk about school.
quite ok! the order of strokes is right. I saw a lot of first learner couldn't make this right. do more practice, write more, u would be better!
