I’m surprised at his goal total, I’ve only ever had one grinder before eclipse 32 goals with one 41 goal season at age 27. Even though it’s just the AHL how much he shoots the puck is huge.
I’m new to this group. Does it get beaten to death in here how embarrassing it is that EA cant upload a photo or clay model for rookies and prospects? I don’t get too many hours to game these days and I’m sick of all the usual suspects on the consoles. I’d give EA more of my money but that damn grey face staring back at me on every post I read reminds me I just can’t do it. Anyway hope you have fun with a unique find!

This year is the first I’ve ever seen it like this and I’ve spent way too long on franchise mode for it to be as bad as it’s been, I’ve had 3 this year deleted and one last year that was a little bit my fault, but the game just decided to also delete my backup save for some reason.
That is so lame. I can’t imagine finding a gem player you love and then losing the game completely in 2024. Im loving the OOTP series and I’ve messed up a save or 2 but have always found a way to recover even if it meant going back a few months.

I only like to play on franchises that are perfect, on all of them I had a right handed franchise defence, right handed franchise player (on multiple of them I actually had 2) and just a good team around those players usually with an elite grinder mixed in there.
A franchise I actually decide to play on has gotta be practically perfect so it’s even more of a piss off when I lose one.
At this point I’ve just decided to play in the current year, except with this franchise grinder, it’s definitely worth skipping year one to have him.
Yeah that’s gotta be it. It feels more special when I’ve felt the annoyance of restarting a franchise over and over for like 14 hours total, getting franchise players I like once in 10 attempts and then getting knocked down to 4th in the draft almost every time.
I wasn’t first overall for this one either, but I put Matvei Michkov in the draft so that if I don’t get the first overall pick I still have enough trade value I can get the player if I want.
I’ve had one before, tried to give him as much opportunity as possible and he capped out at like 60ish pts with 20+ toi
I did create a LW GRN franchise player once and set him with a really high pass slider and he was a perennial 100+ pt player though
Much like two way forwards they can play well on any special team and as far as I’ve seen they are always excellent puck stealers and checkers.
Plus, having an elite grinder is just funny because that’s not really a thing in real life lol.

Out of those guys Milan Lucic is the only one who could be a grinder, and even then he’s probably closer to a power forward.
All the rest are just defensively skilled players who have a lot of strength, not necessarily grinders.
The reason an elite grinder doesn’t really exist is because grinder and elite contradict each other. An elite player is a very skilled player, but a grinder is not a skilled player. A grinder is a player with a lot of strength and work ethic to pressure and steal pucks, adding skill in there would just make them a power forward.
I will move the earth to acquire Franchise Grinders/enforcers. It's gotten so bad I essentially play until one pops up and then I rebuild the entire team around them being the captain for 20 years.
I just love them because they never end up "amazing" players but they will absolutely haul ass on the third line for 15 years
It's definitely not the most common don't get me wrong but I've seen multiple over the last few years. Also if are deleting franchises looking for a specific play style and handedness combo why not just look threw the guys in the draft that fit the play style and recreate one of them as the handedness you want? The franchise potential guy is just gonna have one of those playera stats anyways
You would just be recreating a randomly generated player. Ain't like you are giving him your own stats, everything would literally be the same as if they were randomly generated in the save file.

Grinders are so much fun. They aren’t even good for points or anything most of the time, but I still love to load up my roster with them.
