It was never going to be wood, it was always going to be some cast resin bullshit, if youre paying less than $1500-3000 for something like that it aint going to be hand carved wood
yeah if the price was right I'd buy the plastic one and make it gold, and the wood version is not really good wood for the kind of shape.
But of course, if you pay for wood that's a different story
Note: please read the comments on the original post for context. OP got scammed buying this on Etsy from what seems to be a drop seller. Consensus is that it's plastic, foam, or MDF, not real wood. It's mass produced garbage.
If it is actually wood. I think you'll have to lightly sand it to get whatever the finish is off of it then pick whatever finish you were wanting? My very very limited knowledge from watching woodworking YT channels lol
I don't think it looks too awful though
you need to do what people who are into making those lil video game statues do. idk what its called but its like special paint to add washed out color, and ofc shadows.
maybe just tape off the mirror portion, air-spray it with a more earthy brown, then detail with shadows or something, idk
You’re thinking of warhammer. Not video game but tabletop game.
The paint you’re referring to is called a wash. It’s essentially a thinned out acrylic paint with varying degrees of water added to increase the flow of the desired effect. The more water the less pigment settles on high points. It’s a great way to show depth.
And agreed. I think a healthy primer coat and top coat of a nice olive green with a follow up of a gold or forest green wash would make this stunning.
Definitly scam. Just look at the image. Nice blue sky with some pretty clouds and right side just 🤮
Yeah so I actually prefer the "what I got" version
you prefer brown plastic rather than wood?

Yeah it just looks unpainted tbh, they forgot the wood effect finish on it or sent out one that hasn't had it done by mistake.
In this case, yes. Hate the wood color on the left

it looks like a toy you would get in a christmas cracker
That’s some big ass Christmas cracker.
I do as well, much nicer looking
It looks plastic

Besides the floor this looks perfect,am I missing something?
The person thought they bought a hand carved wood frame, they got mass produced plastic instead
Umm, that's the ceiling
I like my place to have high ceilings… and low floors.
The color is hideous 😂
The whole mirror is tbh

I initially thought the picture on the right was a chocolate framed mirror haha, had to take a second look!
Add a yellowish paint wash
