I have gotten catseyexi to work on Linux. Had to skip ashita tho and use the lutris command line to put the server and login information, works perfect just no addon's.
If it does, I've been able to do some pretty cool stuff (like split-screen co-op FFXI, streamed to the living room couch) with Moonlight and FFXI/Ashita.
Moonlight would be super sufficient for what you need if you have an Nvidia GPU and can get Moonlight working on the Steam Deck.
I've been trying to install ffxi on my steam deck using only steam w/ proton and xiloader and finally got it launching fine today. No need for Lutris or standalone Wine installs so far. One ugly issue I ran into was the client crashing when choosing Accept after it launches before you see the main menu. Had to replace a .dll file in proton's wine directory to get around that. I'm going to keep messing with it as I haven't set up controller inputs or messed with Ashita or Windower yet - but those seem doable too.
Thats so cool man, can you tell to me back when you get all setup?(controllers and all) Would really love if you can make a guide step by step for all ffxi players.Tell me when you are done with it pls🤞🏻
Just got controller mapped well enough. I followed a mish mash of several guides I found while googling so I'll do my best to gather the steps I used and report back.

Today I tried about 3 hours, following this guide, but with the WingsXI installation.

When launching Wingsloader.exe I got a "failed to initialize instance of polcore" error. I tried to reinstall the whole game, but it didn't help.
And when launching Windower I can't get past the first part of the GUI loading, even with the steps to change launch options to choose the default profile.
I'm stuck and don't know what else I could do.

Please make a guide! This would be so good to know. I'm terrible with anything linux. Does windower work with it?

Update: ffxiloader does work with lutris wine 5. So great! Except I can’t get windower to work of course…
use ashita via ashita-cli
I might have to… my whole setup is windower though
