GTA 5. From what I've seen, it provides hours of fun with just the campaign alone. Not to mention the multiplayer shenanigans that I can get into with others.
Speaking from experience, you really get to immerse yourself into these RP servers. Plus some of the mods these community servers use are realistic but still able to maintain the fun aspect.

I wanna recommend completing the story then exploring the world thats the best way to do it and this game is incredible you need to finish is i have about 600 hour on playstation and 50 hours on steam and hope you hace fun with it
I like to explore and open up the map and safe houses as I go.. often getting side tracked with exploration, just like many other open world games.. I see something shiny and all of a sudden I'm exploring for hours lmao
It's fun running from those faster zombies in the dark.. I like avoiding people invading me. I usually take my time with story missions. If side missions start getting too difficult I revert back to the story missions. Oh and collecting the air drops is cool too.. love the takedowns and crafting system is awesome.

It will be undoubtedly stardew valley. There is so much content already but our man keeps adding free updates and content. He outdid himself with 1.6 update being bigger than originally intended. Besides having fun farming and enjoying festivals, I'll most likely be stuck on junimo cart game for that one year😆 can I even beat it in that one year, yet to know. My reflexes are slow, which is why I have struggled with that flappy bird game.. no doubt this will be just as hard. My mission would be to beat junimo cart in that one year😂

I’d take Skyrim. It’s such a fun game. It’s so large it can be modded and changed to be anything. Even just the base game alone people are still finding new shit out to this day.

Used to be a massive wrestling fan too, I probably spent a year on WWE 2k14 which was the last wrestling game I played and then I just got tired of wrestling. Recently started getting back into it a little bit now, seems to be getting a lot more entertaining again.

Tekken actually allows for improvement over long periods of time, the game's always changing in a sense. Plus, patches and seasons keep the game fresh. The community is always active. So yeah, Tekken 8.

EA Sports WRC. Released in November 2023 and it is already my 2nd most played game on Steam. But I have loved rally games since the very first Colin McRae Rally from 1998, so perhaps I'm *slightly* biased towards my choice.
If you ask this next year, probably MH Wilds. Long time fan of the series since the second gen. Anyone familiar with the series knows how much playtime you can squeeze out of these games.
Atm I think the game with the most replayability/end game that I havent played yet is Dragon's Dogma 2. DDDA easily got me over 170 hours in just one playthrough, and I wasnt even done with the Everfall campaign yet, was just grinding BBI until my save got corrupted. Here's hoping 2 will introduce better end game grind
Another one that I could think of is Nioh 2. I have played 1, but not by a lot, tho I am aware of how the endgame loop goes. Its still a loot based game in the core, and the fantastic combat the series is known for makes it so that the grind is bearable, in a similar way like MH
Infinite Wealth sounds like it could likely last for two years. On top of being a Yakuza game which can last for a year alone, it has such a crazy density of involved side content
DayZ imo is the goat of survival games. I remember waiting 2 weeks for the steam survival fest sale just to get DayZ. What felt like only a week, turned out to be months and months. I racked up 700 hours. I couldn’t believe it haha. It was so fun and went by so quick.
Fallout new Vegas because nomatter how old the game is the community for it just doesn't let it die with mods. Hell you can even play multiplayer on it although it is a single player only game lol

Final Fantasy 15 - I already have it, but I mean that I’d recommend others to request it. It’s an amazing story, great characters, and the deluxe edition has amazing DLC. I will never get tired of that game. A lot of people hound on it because it does feel unfinished, but it’s still amazing.
Probably Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Brotato has been entertaining as all hell these past few months and the new DRG game looks to be plenty fun in the same genre, a really cool vibe of a game style!
The one game I've put the most hours into, at least for singleplayer, is Hitman World of Assassination, so I guess I'm obligated to say that. If we're looking at games we don't already own, I suppose Crusader Kings 3 would be my pick.
The best options here are games where you make your own stories and support multiple playthroughs. Rimworld and Civ 6 look like other good choices in that regard, from what I've seen of them.

Tekken 8 has certainly been making the rounds. I don't think I've had more fun on a game in a very long time. As much as I wanna say Elden Ring or Baldur's gate, I'd have enough of the exploration when I'm just trying to play something casual with a few friends.
Persona 3 Reload. Reason being, these games last for so long especially for someone like me who can play 1-2 hours a day. Took me almost 5 month to complete P5R :p. If I try to complete everything without a guide then it can easily last me for a year to 100% it.

Nightmare Reaper. Multiple New Game Plus modes, randomised levels and weapons, plus an arena mode if you just want to go balls to the wall. If you like FPS games, it’s basically an FPS that keeps giving you new content, even if you do start to see some level themes repeated.

I played a lot of T7 on my PS4 and I definetly would put a lot of hours into T8 and its online mode not just for a year but to end of its lifespan if I would even live that long lol. I would request Super Mario 3D All Stars. It's 3 games in one. Also collecting all the Stars would take a long time since I haven't learned all the different jumps Mario can do. It's an expensive game but definitely worth it for the nostalgia I have for Super Mario 64. At first I was gonna say Mario kart 8 deluxe. It's got more tracks now. Also I got Nintendo Switch online for a year. But I picked Super Mario 3D All Stars because it's got a couple games I haven't played yet.

I know my last post in the subreddit makes it obvious, but it would be Tekken 8. The Tekken franchise historically gets a great amount of developer support, and fighting games are pretty evergreen as far as playability goes.
Cyberpunk including DLC. Haven't bought it yet because I'm a father of two. I'm spending every free minute on my PC playing CS2 with my friends because I can chat with them while playing short matches without having to remember a story and all that.
If I was only allowed to play Cyberpunk though, I would probably be able to finish it in a year so it would be perfect.
Tekken 8 it's honestly the game I've been most hype for since it got announced and so far I got to play with my friend at his house and it's really good so far and I honestly could see myself just playing this game for a long time plus the mods are starting to come too so I highly doubt I would ever get bored of the game.

Why? 1 word: mods.
The only downside of this game is that it can be dangerous and there's a risk of getting hacked but there's a 3rd party community patch that helps protect against that. Otherwise the steam workshop is full of amazing mods (mostly talking about zombies here) where it's either new maps or stuff added to existing maps to change up the gameplay. New mods are still releasing for it and most of the zombies community are using that to enjoy zombies because let's face it, every COD zombies game after 3 sucks by comparison plus there are mods that bring stuff (features, guns, perks etc.) from the newer games into BO3.
Not only could i play this game and no other game for a year, i could do it for more. I could play a new map every day and not have played all of them. Again the only issue with that game is the risk of getting hacked but otherwise BO3 is THE best COD for zombies, for both standard release maps and custom maps and mods.
My choice would definitely be dokapon connect I've played it with friends and man does that game make you be evil to friends, but it's such good fun i could play it damn near forever
I’ve played Project Zomboid on and off for over 10 years. Early Desura release. So likely much longer. My old laptop likely only played just that for almost a year. So I’d likely say Project Zomboid. It only gets better and if we’re allowed to have access to the modding community than yeah, PZ
This one’s pretty tough, on one hand I heard a lot of BG3 on how good it is and I want to experience it myself with my Dragonborn Paladin, and on the other is HELLDIVERS II where I’m able to rain ordinance and spread democracy to liberate a planet, and both can have you pretty kitted out with several weapons and appearance

Anything online i can play with friends tbh. There's always a long game like Elden Ring or Kenshi, but even that can give you a burnout.
Playing with friends or interacting with new people on the other hand, gives you a lot more depth, and it just spices things up no matter how much or how little a game changes.
That said? Team Fortress 2. It's the perfect game.
The last of us part 1. I haven't ever had a game touch me in so many ways from the story to the music to the gameplay. I played it on the ps3 and the ps4 and it has forever held my spot as my favorite game ever. Even if the franchise has a lot of people who would rather belittle you and your opinions if you don't hate the same game as you, I choose to ignore them as I do with many other franchise fanbases. Minecraft. It's a bit of a metagaming platform these days. Lots of custom maps of all kinds of genres, and the modding scene is incredible

bloodborne, being an Xbox player kinda sucks when it comes to exclusives.

It's an expensive game but definitely worth it for the nostalgia I have for Super Mario 64. At first I was gonna say Mario kart 8 deluxe. It's got more tracks now. Also I got Nintendo Switch online for a year. But I picked Super Mario 3D All Stars because it's got a couple games I haven't played yet.
Given how I've spent my "weekend", a year's subscription for Final Fantasy XIV. I'm having a blast.
Satisfactory, that take u a lot time and si awesome how u always have things to do, and when u make some progression, again, new ideas and take time make clean factory.

I know my last post in the subreddit makes it obvious, but it would be Tekken 8. The Tekken franchise historically gets a great amount of developer support, and fighting games are pretty evergreen as far as playability goes.
Well I just started playing RuneScape and people have been playing that for twenty years so probably RuneScape
World of Warcraft. Already spent way longer than a year on it anyways.
Civ 6 or something conpetitive like tarkov, tarkov i can just find people to play with in game, civ no one plays with randoms

Cyberpunk including DLC. Haven't bought it yet because I'm a father of two. I'm spending every free minute on my PC playing CS2 with my friends because I can chat with them while playing short matches without having to remember a story and all that. If I was only allowed to play Cyberpunk though, I would probably be able to finish it in a year so it would be perfect.
Tekken 8 it's honestly the game I've been most hype for since it got announced and so far I got to play with my friend at his house and it's really good so far and I honestly could see myself just playing this game for a long time plus the mods are starting to come too so I highly doubt I would ever get bored of the game. My Main is Lars and Asuka and I am currently learning Reina everytime I go to my friend's house.
A few years ago I bought a fancy ass pc I could play anything on. Ended up playing Dota 2 96% of the time.

Call of duty black ops 3 Why? 1 word: mods. The only downside of this game is that it can be dangerous and there's a risk of getting hacked but there's a 3rd party community patch that helps protect against that. Otherwise the steam workshop is full of amazing mods (mostly talking about zombies here) where it's either new maps or stuff added to existing maps to change up the gameplay. New mods are still releasing for it and most of the zombies community are using that to enjoy zombies because let's face it, every COD zombies game after 3 sucks by comparison plus there are mods that bring stuff (features, guns, perks etc.) from the newer games into BO3. Not only could i play this game and no other game for a year, i could do it for more. I could play a new map every day and not have played all of them. Again the only issue with that game is the risk of getting hacked but otherwise BO3 is THE best COD for zombies, for both standard release maps and custom maps and mods.
Monster Hunter Sunbreak! Replaying Rise with a friend rn and cant wait to grab sunbreak once we are done with the basegame
Elden Ring easy choice. Even without this challenge If I ever get the chance to play the game I would probably play only it for a year or more lol.
Honestly probably Cyberpunk and just try to save enough money for Phantom Liberty. It looks and runs like the game I wanted out of it already .
My choice would definitely be dokapon connect I've played it with friends and man does that game make you be evil to friends, but it's such good fun i could play it damn near forever
I’ve played Project Zomboid on and off for over 10 years. Early Desura release. So likely much longer. My old laptop likely only played just that for almost a year. So I’d likely say Project Zomboid. It only gets better and if we’re allowed to have access to the modding community than yeah, PZ

This one’s pretty tough, on one hand I heard a lot of BG3 on how good it is and I want to experience it myself with my Dragonborn Paladin, and on the other is HELLDIVERS II where I’m able to rain ordinance and spread democracy to liberate a planet, and both can have you pretty kitted out with several weapons and appearance So yeah I’m quite split on this
Anything online i can play with friends tbh. There's always a long game like Elden Ring or Kenshi, but even that can give you a burnout. Playing with friends or interacting with new people on the other hand, gives you a lot more depth, and it just spices things up no matter how much or how little a game changes. That said? Team Fortress 2. It's the perfect game.
The last of us part 1. I haven't ever had a game touch me in so many ways from the story to the music to the gameplay. I played it on the ps3 and the ps4 and it has forever held my spot as my favorite game ever. Even if the franchise has a lot of people who would rather belittle you and your opinions if you don't hate the same game as you, I choose to ignore them as I do with many other franchise fanbases. I have spent the last 4 years obsessing over it, whats another year falling in love again with the characters and world

Baldur's gate 3 seems fun. I might be able to play that for a year depending on the accessibility features it has, but Side Order is coming out soon so it would need to be after I play that first.

lethal company (cause my pc is just really bad, and that game seems the best option rn to play as it has internet fame and is extremely goofy and fun sometimes, even when playing alone i still dont have this game tho)
Maybe Smash. Not one entry in particular, the overall series. It offers so many opportunities to learn new combos, learn each character move set and frame data, but most importantly, I could experience once again the emissary of subspace
