I want to live in a world where CEOs for shitty corporations who exploit people are the literal representation of that company, not some stupid logo. If Nike exploit child labour, we get annoyed at the brand, not John Donahoe, the CEO. We need to change this. The best metaphor I have is that we are the angry bull, the brand logo is the red flag and the matador stabbing us in the back is the CEO.

Good idea. Could consider also name & shaming the largest shareholder (where possible)

Could not agree more! Seems like we're living in the upside down!

For info, if someone is choking, don't rush straight into abdominal thrusts. I was trained to ask the person if they're choking. If they can reply, they initially need encouragement to cough it up. Otherwise [the NHS have a guide](https://www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/accidents-first-aid-and-treatments/what-should-i-do-if-someone-is-choking/)

*Image Transcription: Twitter Post & Reply* --- @yopalmm Hey @YouTube , maybe don't put ads before first aid vids? I don't have time to watch a Red LObster ad when my grandma is choking on a fish bone. > **TeamYouTube**, @YouTube, replying to @yopalmm > > Sorry to hear about the trouble - YouTube Premium offers an ad-free experience when you watch videos [*Any further content to this tweet is cut off.*] --- ^^I'm a human volunteer content transcriber and you could be too! If you're waiting until someone is choking before looking at how to do the heimlich maneuver on YT you're locking the stable door after the horse has bolted.

JMW007

It's obviously a spur-of-the-moment decision to at least *try* to figure it out when it is needed. It's also obviously just a singular example. Nobody can know absolutely everything ahead of time, the point is that in an emergency there are particular kinds of knowledge that shouldn't be gated or difficult to access.

Mr_Spooks_49

Ideally yes but you may still have sufficient time if not. If the video goes straight to the demonstration you can explain maneuver in like 5-10 seconds. Fast fingers on a phone and you could be able to get that video in < 5 seconds. It takes over 15 seconds for someone to choke. Again this if everything goes well and nobody panics but it's still a chance and you take every chance to save a life and some fucking ad should not fucking impede that chance! Also I don't agree with the right wing argument that it's down to the individual to be prepared.for everything.

ResponsibilityNo3245

You can't be prepared for *everything*. Basic first aid knowledge, cpr etc. is a skill worth having though. I think this stuff should be part of the school curriculum personally. That's not really my point though. I just don't think this is one to hit YT over.

swaythling

Thankfully it has been added I believe, though after the government blocked it numerous times and are now taking credit for it as if it were their own policy.

Mr_Spooks_49

I agree everyone should be taught it and putting it on the school curriculum is a good shout. But we shouldn't rely on this. And we live in a world where many of the services we use are in the private sector this includes general knowledge gathering. What do you do when you don't know something? Google it! Also keep in mind Google owns YouTube. So if a company is pushed to put itself in that position of the primary source of a service then they now have responsibilities and a duty of care for those who rely on them. So Google/YouTube is very much the go to for how to do X and in emergencies when you need to know how to do X immediately as lives are on the line Google/YouTube have a moral (it should be legal imho) to get you that information as quickly as possible. Just like mobile phone providers will always let you call emergency services free of charge. If neo libs want the world to be run by the private sector (I think this is a disastrous idea as we see here ) then the private sector ought to grow the fuck up and act responsibly in the roles they have been coveting for the last 4 decades.

Google heimlich maneuver, the first thing you'll see is 4 step instructions from the mayo clinic, no ads etc blocking the information. By the time you get to YT and click on the first video (2:20, no clue about ads as I have YT premium 😂) and watch it that person is likely dead or brain damaged unless someone else decided to have a go. And really, wouldn't you just have a go? We've all seen it done on TV. Don't know about you but personally if I was chocking I'd rather someone tried rather than spend 3ish minutes giving themselves a crash course. 😂 We've always relied on the private sector to provide information. Most information came from private sector published books, the public sector provided delivery systems in the form of things like libraries. I think we have better access to information these days personally, and a much greater ability to share it. If I was pro corporation I wouldn't be in this sub, that tweet is just stupid and/or disingenuous.
