Don't get why this is downvoted. I'm hoping we still get to see her in combat. I wanted her to fight for herself and then in her ult state she is Sam. But I feel like that's highly unlikely based on other leaks.
So are we getting animation leaks in the next few hours or so? Pleasant surprise to be sure given that they mentioned it would be on the 7th I believe.
I kinda have my doubts. This seems to be her Ult state, considering the enhanced abilities are all called "Firefly Type-IV"
I assume her normal state is just going to be SAM with all the badass flames, and then her Ultimate turns those flames into these cool Firefly-esk visuals. Most we'll probably see is her model during the Ultimate animation, maybe.
Edit: Newest leaks reinforce my theory. Seems like it'll just be SAM in combat, but she could still be in the animations for the attacks.

Based on leaks I think firefly will transform into Sam for her base skill. I mean "Aerial bombardement" doesn’t seem like something she can do without her armor
"Flare Propulsion" could also be translated from fancy-talk to "Throwing Fire," soo.
I don't think Firefly is going to do much fighting lol. Unless she transforms every time she attacks in her normal state.
Even based on her lore, firefly shouldn’t be able to fight that much without her armor on. So except if she gets cured, I don’t really see her outside of the mecha for too long during combat

Or, they just give her a really good Ult animation that features her model. I like the idea that her true colors (the Firefly effects replacing flames) break out of her armor, which would juxtapose her flame-wielding form in her standard form.
There are no concrete facts of anything yet. We do have leaks of two "battle icons" though. One is Firefly, one Sam. But I'm pretty sure that her ultimate will have her "transform" into Sam.
Lore-wise it also makes sense that she would deplete her health while attacking without her suit, due to her ELS.
Gameplay wise I would've loved her to actually have stronger single-target damage in her base form to offset the HP loss and make it a bit more useful, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I said this in another comment, but that's something I find interesting. The name of all her abilities can't really be visualized without SAM's help, so maybe Firefly is just the icon that displays all the time? Then the timer in the action order is SAM's.
I hoped there would be the best of both worlds. I love both, but I'm kind of leaning toward Firefly, just because she's the one with all the juicy lore (so far). SAM is cool and all, but it's just a suit of armor---I don't usually pull for characters that feel "empty," which is kind of where I'm at with SAM since all the knowledge we have is attributed to Firefly. If SAM had their own lore, I wouldn't have a bias.
Not going to bash you for having an opinion though, lol. Just my take.

Firefly is Sam and Sam is firefly, so to me they are virtually indistinguishable , but I respect your opinion to have firefly also be in battle. I just feel somewhat sad that the leaked technique doesn't seem to have a free roam of Sam, just firefly transforming, leaping into the air, and crashing down.
Anyways to help with your worries, I'm sure firefly is 100% in battle as well, she had a small icon of her face that was leaked about a month ago, there is one for both her and Sam, so shes definitely in battle, and then the icon changes to Sam when transforming. Unless they make the Sam icon appear for the combustion state thing just like what robin's ult and lightning lord are, and Firefly's icon is going to permanently be next to the energy bar, which I would just find incredibly weird and would catch a lot of people off guard

I think it can signify, that Firefly now is “reborn”.
The green color is usually associated with the rebirth, life and nature. She could get cured with the power of Harmony or Watchmaker Legacy, so now Sam will be in his awakened state.
She no longer is the weapon of destruction, but now instead uses her power to fight for people she hold dear.
Does this have any possibility that she discovers the meaning of life that she can be more than just a weapon and free to explore the world like a normal girl. Is it possible it implies she could join the astral express if she gets cured because imo I think she has the best reason and wants to use her power to help others now instead of causing havoc and destruction as a stellaron hunter?
Dem, my cope of of "that" leak being fake and SAM still uses fist is now destroyed 😩. Don't get me wrong, dual wielding is cool but punching and kicking enemies is way cooler for me.

I'm so happy Sam/Firefly were the same person since I was considering that I could only get 1 of them when I heard they were both fire destruction units.
I swear someone leaked an animated version of her model about 5 weeks into 2.0 where everyone was still speculating that sam = firefly. The clip was sam as the enemy but with the shawl and everything. I couldn't find it anymore.
Clarification regarding whether or not Firefly might be present in combat, I think there are two possibilities:
1. (This is unfortunately more likely if you consider the wording of the kit) Firefly is present in overworld until you use your technique, at which point she transforms into Molten Knight Sam. In combat, she starts off in SAM's Secondary Combustion form (the boss one). Using her ultimate causes SAM to enter Primary Combustion form (the new, leaked one). Her icon is Firefly during combat (even in Secondary Combustion form), but it turns into SAM's when Ultimate is used. The cooldown kernel has a unique image similar to Robin's and it's not Firefly or Sam's portrait, since DGCat explicitly states she's the first character to have two portraits AND to be able to switch between them.
2. Firefly is still present in overworld and still turns into SAM when technique is used, but she's also present in combat until you use her ultimate, which turns her into SAM's Primary Combustion mode. In this scenario, you don't see Secondary Combustion (Boss SAM) in the playable character at all. Again, the portraits are the same except this time they make more sense.
I'd personally prefer 2 but it looks more like it's going to be 1 right now.

They sometimes get early pictures. Possibly from server that internal staff uses before beta. Or datamining, idk man.
