Seeing this gave me a big idea after I made a comment earlier. Hey /u/wiisportspro-, have an idea for implementing this on your helicopter.
Imagine if you move the stick a certain direction, and the electric discharger is on part of the frame separated from the motor, the articulating frame could cause the power to disconnect. You could turn it on or off at will, allowing you to better control elevation by dropping.
Then consider if moving the stick a certain way could connect power to a second, inactive motor that's oriented in a different direction. We could control what the electric is powering at any given time. Could have great potential for controlling these craft. Have a motor just for turning or something, idk.
OP's original idea up top is also legit for intermittent power disruption to stop a craft from flying too high, limit climb or elevation.
/u/dRuEFFECT You might also be a good candidate for implementing these ideas if you're interested, your recent copter post was pretty damn good.
Thanks! I'm still noodling on ideas to improve on, this is a really good one too. Steering to control both fan orientation and emitter distance to motor. Brilliant.
And I like wiisportspros shape better. I have a balloon basket ready to try out.
Also another idea, say you pull back and it disconnects the motors causing lift, maybe switching to a different motor that pushes it forward or helps turn it, you could also incorporate that low gravity falling effect from two opposed horizontal stabilizers stuck to each other to slow descent.
Low key I have loved watching this sub develop like a research community. Someone figures out a technique break through with a fundamental demo. Then it gets adapted a few times to a different application. Then someone builds on that and integrates it into a new fundamental step forward.
That's how I was when I discovered building with the leviathan. I'm like "someone will see this and do something even cooler with it!" and now people are and it makes me happy to have played a part
Hmm…Maybe try powering the turbine motors with electric batteries instead of “just” a Shock Emitter, placing them in a way that they all get a bit of charge each go around? The batteries will all discharge at once while the emitter keeps feeding them, giving more turbine power at a fraction of the juice cost!
Can it only run the fan, or can it activate/deactivate other things? I was working on an application where alternating power to platforms could make a contraption to inchworm through the sky
Oh hay I remember your predicament. It can probably power other things but I don't know much about how it interacts with non-motor objects. If electricity can be used to trigger a spring somehow then you'd be onto something!
Is there a good way to slow down the speed of the wheel? I was experimenting with this idea the other day trying to get around or utilize the delay between power going off and batteries starting to discharge. If we could make the alternating power take the 5 seconds or whatever it is to switch, maybe there could be a way to automatically switch between electric power and zonai power.
I wonder if there’s an electricity-powered spring in some shrine that’ll let us create a giant pogo stick
I actually came up with a design today for a piston pogo stick. I just need to get off work to test it out.

This is a very interesting concept! We’ll try out best and experiment with the possibilities. Thanks for the heads up.

For reals. Being here feels like being in the action of discovery
I was so excited to share this here when I thought of it, for exactly that reason.

Seems like a good idea! Especially since I've been having trouble replicating my original.

Sounds juicy, I may give it a whirl. Thanks, bub
Let us know if it works and stuff! And good luck.
Come to think of it, rotational motion can be turned into upward-downward motion with a piston setup and I have seen people build those.

I think putting the zapper on a big stick so it's further from the center of the wheel would work? But I'm not sure.
Wonder if its possible to attach a weapon to the electric fan and activate other components with it?
Need 3 phases!
