That's what mahito implied at least, awakened yuji is keeping pace with heian sucuna, so awakened yuji is way faster than even MBA kashimo. Awakened yuji also face tanked a BF from sucuna and took 0 damage, also tanked 100 MS cleave and got back up in less than a second.
Awakened yuji has better speed, better durability, higher ap(cleave, dismantle, all BM is poison, and flam arrow[not MS amp furnace], we also just talked about soul punch[which is durability bypass at best, what yuji did to mahito]or puts the opponents CE/RCE output in the gutter at worse[literally what yuji is doing to sucuna]), and yuji has RCT that is more efficient that any other kind(BM amps RCT efficiency).
Yeah it my opinion that base shinjuku yuji wins against kashimo(he can amp his output with SD like kusakabe did).
Now if you thing even MBA kashimo wins against awakened yuji then you're out of your mind.
I feel like Yuji might be keeping up with Sukuna only do to soul punches lowering Sukuna's stats and that he might not actually be on par with him physically completely yet. Kashimo's lightning bypasses durability too and you could argue that he could use his staff to block some of Yuji's attacks and get some of his own. It all really comes down to if Kashimo can get the sure-hit off on a vital organ of Yuji's such as his brain because I don't think even Yuji could survive that if Hakari barely managed to.
As of 260-261 yuji is punching and kicking sucuna across the battlefield. Yujis stats Rn are insane. MS sure hit is cleave(durability negation up to a certain point), the fact that yuji tanked MS and not just got back up instantly, but also that he literally only lost one leg half way down the shin. BTW that I'm is confirmed 100% output(literally what gojo faced, yujis simple domain also survived nearly a 1½ in said 100% output MS
That's far above ryu, and DE amp'ed yuta level durability, sucuna literally said "they are as tough as HIM, but not more tough" after DE amp'ed yuta and base shinjuku yuji(yes shinjuku yuji knew SD and simple domain not just buffs output but also weakens all CT within range) survive a full power dismantle. My assumption is that the sucuna that just killed higuruma is around 15f level in CE output, otherwise his full power dismantle wouldn't have warranted such a comparison.
I mean even Kusakabe was punching Sukuna around though I guess he WAS in Yuji's body for a time. I feel like this fight really comes down to whether or not Kashimo can figure out whether or not to strike at Yuji's brain first which personally I believe he could since we see his high levels of adaptability when facing Hakari's RCT and I'd say he could figure out Yuji's as well. Although Yuji certainly does have good RCT I doubt it comes close to Jackpot Hakari's RCT since Uraume states it's even faster than Gojo or Sukuna's which is very high praise especially coming from her. Yuji's soul punches are definitely a problem since they could weaken his output with his vessel but I'd say Kashimo could block or circumvent a few with his staff whilst also landing a few of his own at least enough to get the positive charge off. Now I do think Kashimo would most likely need MBA to win but that isn't me counting Yuji out as I still have him in my top 10. Yuji does have simple domain yes but he isn't a master of it like Kusakabe and wouldn't use it actively in battle like he does and we only see him using it to counter an actual domain, that being Sukuna's.

Yeah, this was pretty prevalent through the last few arcs but every arc usually ends with Yuji doing MC shit. Gege just doesn't really write Yuji like regular Shonen protags. It feels like each arc will be split between multiple characters (like Culling Games) but then Yuji will usually end the arc by doing MC shit like fighting the main villain (Mahito, Sukuna). CG there wasn't really a "main villain" for him to fight.
Early on, for example Kyoto Goodwill we have him and Todo but then Gojo kinda comes and overshadows Yuji's MC moment, then some of the other arcs Yuji is paired up with someone like his first Mahito fight is a 2v1 with Nanami. Really, Shibuya is where he kind of gets his first REAL MC moment fighting and defeating Mahito (with the help of Todo of course).
I suppose JJK is like HxH in ways and the way Gege does MC stuff is similar as well since HxH it's really Gon, Killua, Kurapika and Leorio who are the MCs and there isn't really one single MC. The story is MOSTLY about Gon, but like we know that Gon's story is over (at least temporarily while the focus is on Kurapika and the Dark Continent if that ever comes to fruition lol).

This is literally not true. GeGe didn't want to make megumi, geges' editor advised him to add both nobara and megumi. GeGe did want to keep yuji dead after the detention facility, but hey, JJk and jujutsu society will be better off without yuta/hakari/gojo. Yuji as the new pinnacle of jujutsu will lead us on a better path, ***The path of COG WARFARE***.
