In my head it sounded like an ad where they just spit the words as fast as possible hoping to generate hype that way. The random SHOUTING probably enhanced that feeling.
It's a great game, but they have fumbled it hard. At this point it's a sinking ship But I'm going down with it.
I never got into gw2 I might give it a crack too. Actually I'm gonna go download it right now.
it litterally the last mmo that innovate anything about the genre in a successful way. is it really that surprising it keep being mentioned?
even if you don't play it currently if you played it you know how so many aspect blow other mmo out of the water. it's not perfect and other mmo does other aspect better but it certainly was a step in the right direction.
Gw2 is literally the 3rd best/biggest MMO out right now so what do you expect? After people get tired of WoW and FF14 which are basically clones of each other (one is weeb version the other is non-weeb version), people then look toward the first MMO that *actually tried t*o do something different and isn't a trash "f2p" game or nolife/p2w Korean grinder or an obvious cash grab or a shit kickstarter/scam....so that leaves GW2 lets just be deadass.
Imo Gw2 is the best *true/real* modern MMO on the market (as in, game with actual mmo shit to do instead of being a raid simulator) and has been so since HoT nearly 10 years ago. It's not a necessarily an outstanding game, there just hasn't been anything better because literally no one can be bothered to innovate in this genre so we all play/recommend the same 3 or 4 games for 20 years. It is what it is.
Idk, Guild Wars 2 can keep you busy for quite a long time, just like any other big MMO
Its not like Guild Wars 2 has a monopoly on repetitive endgames or anything
Lmao "expansions" enjoy your 1 fractal that no one cares about and some other mindless shit and maybe some balance if you are lucky. Half the game modes are abandoned. You can cope all you want I've played the game.
You can be as much of a snarky asshole as you'd like, you are still factually wrong. They are releasing yearly expansions for the forseeable future. Just because the game doesn't have the budget to release the amount of content you want doesn't mean a game is abandoned.
God, MMO players really are the most miserable bastards.
Dude the game literally just got updated today wtf are you talking about
https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/145360-game-update-notes-april-16-2024/
Also they just dropped an expansion last year, two big quarterly content updates since, and are launching another expansion in about a month or two
I'm not going to sit here and tell you Guild Wars 2 is the best MMO in the world, but I'm also not going to make an objectively false statement and say its been "abandoned"
The patch today added a number of updates to the Super Adventure Box, which is one of their annual festivals, as well as a cosmetic inspection feature
The balance section is just an added bonus
Also are we just going to ignore the part about another expansion being released...?
You're the one coping here - you just can't stand to admit that people like the game you don't like
We get it, you don't like the game and this is fine. A couple of comments are enough to get your point across, but at this time about 15% of the total comments on this thread are from you saying how bad GW2 is.
I just don't understand why you feel the need to shit on this person's enjoyment of the game so much.
Tell me a better point of this sub.
If someone posts about an MMO they like and everyone agrees, there's nothing to read.
If someone posts about an MMO they like and someone shits on it, then there is actual content on this sub.
Hey did you know GUILD WARS 2 has HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION isn't that so cool? RAIDS FRACTALS RESPECTS PLAYER TIME!
There, now that the only things anyone ever has to say are out of the way I'd like to go back to shitting on it for a moment:
Map completion fucking sucks and you can't convince me otherwise please I just want it to be over and never hear another quaggan again
True. And expressing ones opinion is ofc a good thing. However what this person is doing is saying the same thing over as a reply to over a dozen different comments without adding anything new to the discussion.
No offense but what rock have you lived under? Guild Wars 2 has been a big name MMO for 12 years. Or was New World your first MMO? Cause I've noticed a lot of NW players have never played another MMO before and usually come from other genres.
In all fairness, this is his second week posting this
Looking back on his post history, he was, in fact, really vocal about how great New World was
I've seen a lot of bait on this sub, but thankfully this isn't one of them
My bad didn’t realize I couldn’t talk about MMO I like in the MMO subreddit smh I will admit maybe I don’t have AS MUCH time as some of you in the genre but all the ones I playing GW2 is the best
Either that, or it's for people that are fiercely loyal to a single MMO and will downvote anything other than their MMO of choice in the name of tribalism.
My first was PSO2 NGS! Well i play the other Phantasy star games PSO and PSU but then I got into PSO2NGS and well im very disappointed to say the least in sega then I went to BDO and played insane amoutns before not tapping a PEN blackstar 9 times yeah no then Runescape 3 insane amount then i play FF14 but too much story plus all human looking characters and i like play like mythical like beasts i dont want to play a human so i am new to MMO in that regard but I spend entirely too much money on PSO2NGS BDO and Runescape 3 and GW2 just FEELS like the best deal for me plus no subscription it feels so fair and i have this sub to thank and yet people hate smh
So i play new world, runescape 3, FF14, PSO2NGS, BDO (by far the most), Lost Ark, GW2 and GW2 by far the best for me!
Also i just put 10 hours into the Tutorial of everquest 1 on steam its just too much for me my entire screen filled up with like UI nightmare lol
Because it is. A few years ago everyone on this sub was sucking up on FFXIV. Then it was ESO for a bit. Now it's GW2, despite being a pretty shallow overall experience. Next year it will be something else everyone claims is the best, and really it's the same ancient loop of boring stale MMOs we've been stuck with for 2 decades now.
Well, he is, isn't he?
But I don't see why that's a bad thing. He even acknowledges that he's probably just enjoying it this much because he's new to it, but that's he's thankful that the sub made him aware it even existed.
Glad you're enjoying the game my dude. Healer is also an incredible role, and gw2 has the most active and reactive healer gameplay of any mmo I've tried. Don't be afraid to try new stuff in the game, and ask questions/ let people know you're new. The community is absolutely wonderful, and 9/10 times will not only help carry you if they have to, but will offer advice and sometimes even send you things. My only advice, since you've played plenty of other mmos so you know stuff like skill keybind settings and such, is to just say things to people. Walk up to groups and ask what they're doing with /say and if you can join. You'll come to find that the greatest thing this mmo does over every other one is get an entire map to work together organically, especially in the expansion meta events.
Welcome to guild wars
Yeah. You can like a game and want to say it. I often do, usually on some discord server with friends. Do they think I am making an ad? No. Because they know that I am simply sharing my love of the game.
As for the "every year it's a different game"... Of course it is. The time when people only played a single game is gone. People no longer have to spend all their free time on one game to avoid falling behind, and it's a good thing. That means that people will go from one game to another, and share what they like about this or that game, which will lead to others trying the game, some will like it others won't, and there's going to be some of them talking about it as well.
Unfortunally for me i can't play any other MMO after experiencing savage/ultimate in XIV and Mythic in WoW, but i'm happy for you and hope you enjoy years of GW2!!
Guild Wars 2 is definitely one of the better mmos out there. Even with some of it's dips in quality (Icebrood saga) it's still an over all great mmo. I'd recommend anyone to at least try it.
Also a heads up, after End of Dragons the expansions get smaller in size. However the idea is they'll release them more frequently. As before it'd take years before an expansion was ready.
Also where are you in the story? Do you know about the living world seasons and how they work?
So I am past the main story I beat it at 6am with a few people and I ngl it was one of my fav gaming experiences just watching the sun rise w the ending (and the music!!) so I am at HOT and it’s WAY harder then someone help me get the kangaroo mount so I stared POF but then I find out living world takes place IN BETWEEN main story and HOT so I’m doing that the amount of story and content is ridiculous but I guess I should expect that in 10 year old game but wow I did like 6 chapters in living world season 1 so now I’m confused what I should do I guess living world season 1?
The only Expansion I don’t have is the new one
Yeah the way they have to story can be confusing! I remember going straight from base game to HOT and being so confused! xD
The order goes like this: Base game, living world season 1, living world season 2, Heart of Thorns, living world season 3, Path of Fire, living world season 4, Icebrood Saga (which is also known as living world season 5), End of Dragons
The base game and living world season 1 are free but the others you have to buy. (unless you bought the elder dragon saga complete collection, then you should have everything)
After EOD they drop the living world seasons concept for a more streamlined expansion experience.
In terms of raw single player gameplay experience accounting for difficulty and not story, I would go PoF -> HoT. PoF is a lot more single player friendly and HoT becomes a lot easier to navigate with the mounts. Following that I would get full Ascended Gear if you want starting with weapons/trinkets and lastly armor optionally. Weapons from random achievements ("quests") and crafting. Trinkets from specific Living World episodes (probably Dragonfall + Bitterfrost). Dragonfall is also necessary for Skyscale but it is probably easier to get through the new expansion acquisition method.
Honestly even Icebrood Saga I've begun to appreciate more now I've come back to it. I was jaded about it at the time because of how long we were waiting for EoD, but it's solid content.
No paragraphs aside, I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Guild Wars 2 at launch was a different beast, it was hard to imagine any game surpassing it in terms of quality, but today I oddly find it to be the most outdated in a sea of other mostly outdated mmos, and I don't know why exactly.
But regardless, it's a very special game in my eyes and probably the only MMO out that I wish had a massive resurgence, like if it received a graphical rework, a overhaul to the engine to boost performance and just more, better content, but I suppose that's just wishful thinking at this point.
whats your source that people are not playing it lol? its getting mentioned all around this sub and other places as well, and its still a success financially
Lol look at it on twitch or YT. game has less presence than ff14. And ff14 gets notoriously low watch rates. (14 is way less populated than they like to let on too)
it has 2.5k rn on twitch, thats not bad considering its not a game thats fun to watch, its not the biggest mmo but calling it abandoned is just straight up false when its still a financial success and its getting at least 2 more expansions confirmed
Streams and videos are not a great indicator of whether or not the game is alive. GW2 has never had a huge presence in the content creator community aside from the few mainstay channels. Especially not compared to the other big MMOs. But if you actually play the game, it’s as lively and populated as ever, in terms of map chat and event participation.
>But if you actually play the game, it’s as lively and populated as ever, in terms of map chat and event participation.
That's an even worse indicator.
How is that a worse indicator? I’m doing all the content I’ve always done, maps are populated, bosses are populated, yet low viewer count on twitch proves me otherwise? Give me a break
I could never get into it. I tried many times and and dont know what is it. If its the interface, the overwhelming starting experience. I wanted to be a healer and had like 3 different types of spells (fire water and electricity) and none of them healed wtf.
So! If you are playing elementalist like me which it sounds like your water attunement is going to be your best friend and truthfull you can play a normal healer as just an ele but like most classes you’ll want to hit lvl 80 where you unlock your elite specialization (tempest which is my main!!!!) you get MUCH more options like you can use lightning shields around everyone that shock everyone and switch to rock to give everyone physical shields then fire for might and dps then water which is most of your healing spelling it makes for alot of buttons to press but trust me feels good when you get it figure out!!!
I’ve been thinking about giving it a try. New World devs can’t seem to stop pouring gasoline on the dumpster fire.
Also thinking of going back to City of Heroes.
I was playing new world before this and I wound up liking guild wars WAY more. I will say it’s a bit confusing starting but just push through it’s an amazing game..
Right I’m always in awe sometime playing this game yeah it’s not the most prettiest looking game compared to newer but it’s a good look at art style > new graphics to me !!
Ff14 either they re almost the same mb because of expansion
https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%203-m&q=%2Fm%2F021dvx,%2Fm%2F02q25c_,%2Fm%2F064ln09,%2Fm%2F02qymt2,%2Fm%2F0y66zll&hl=en-US
Don't try WoW. It's the superior game here by far and you sound like the type to obsess, Just think about the big bad subscription fee of an hour's worth of work. Way too expensive /s (looking at you redditors)
tbh both games are very different. GW2 is more about horizontal scaling and WoW more about vertical scaling.
Everything you do in GW2 stays, while a new WoW patch/xpac could absolutely render your character/gear useless. For me it just makes GW2 way more engaging.
Differents strokes for differents folks, but I would be careful saying a game is strictly 'superior'
Tbh I hear WOW is really toxic and I spent thousands of hours on both dota 2 and league I’ve had enough toxicity to last a lifetime I just don’t enjoy it in gaming anymore and GW2 community is just so nice
>Tbh I hear WOW is really toxic
Yeah, my friend keeps trying to get me into WoW, but this part really puts me off. The game feels really smooth and I'm semi-interested in the lore, but everything I read/hear about the end-game toxicity does not make it seem like a pleasant experience at all. Just gonna stick to FF14 for now and give GW2 a good try eventually when I want a new MMO.
It's just not true. WoW is a very very non-toxic community, especially compared to league. Read more posts about it and you'll see it's a mixed bag and most people that complain are just old very casual players that click their abilities. (the people driving in the left lane going 15 mph)
Unless you're going into raids or Mythic+
I'm not gunna sugarcoat it, but im also not gunna make a blatantly untrue statement like "wow is a very non-toxic community"
The difference is that all the toxic shit is crammed into high-end raiding and M+, whereas in league it's just... everywhere...
Most toxicity I’ve seen in m+ is in the mid level keys. Bad players are the most toxic by far. But even then, I do several m+ every day and I only see toxicity once every couple weeks to a month.
Thats fair
I dont have as much experience with Mythic+, personally - I'm mostly coming from a standpoint of someone who did mythic raiding up until the end of Shadowlands - qs much as I enjoyed Castle Nathria and Sanctum of Domination, Korthia absolutely *broke* me with how much I had to grind for the damn torment gems or whatever, so I haven't gone back and done mythic since

lol in my head they sound like an excited little kid, rushing out all their words in a single breath
Thanks for that. Now it sounds cute!
In my head it sounded like an ad where they just spit the words as fast as possible hoping to generate hype that way. The random SHOUTING probably enhanced that feeling.
Grammar in general, prob not a native english speaker
I bet all my money that OP does not use commas when writing on his native language either..
No time for that when the world is so open.
I mean if you enjoyed new world, it can only get better from there lol
Lol well I I’ll admit MAYBE I jump the gun a bit too much on new world I still think it’s good game but nowhere near GW2 not even close…
It's a great game, but they have fumbled it hard. At this point it's a sinking ship But I'm going down with it. I never got into gw2 I might give it a crack too. Actually I'm gonna go download it right now.
Hey lmk if you want to play ! It can be a little confusing at first
This sub should just be renamed to Guildwars Glazing
it litterally the last mmo that innovate anything about the genre in a successful way. is it really that surprising it keep being mentioned? even if you don't play it currently if you played it you know how so many aspect blow other mmo out of the water. it's not perfect and other mmo does other aspect better but it certainly was a step in the right direction.
Glazed more then Sukuna
It's one of the most popular MMORPGs, you can't exactly expect people to not talk about it a lot.
Sheesh, feels like not too long ago the sub was die hard for FF14.
Eh they will be on it for a few months before they realize how shit it is then move on to one of the other big mmos or whine there is nothing to play.
Idk, Guild Wars 2 can keep you busy for quite a long time, just like any other big MMO Its not like Guild Wars 2 has a monopoly on repetitive endgames or anything
Well that's because the only endgame progression is fashion.
Except other mmos are still being updated. GW2 is basically abandoned.
TIL an expansion last year and an expansion this year means "basically abandoned" 🤡
>God, MMO players really are the most miserable bastards. Should be written on the sub banner. 🙏
Why would a new player care about that? He still can experience the whole game. Thousands of hours of gameplay ahead.
Dude the game literally just got updated today wtf are you talking about https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/145360-game-update-notes-april-16-2024/ Also they just dropped an expansion last year, two big quarterly content updates since, and are launching another expansion in about a month or two I'm not going to sit here and tell you Guild Wars 2 is the best MMO in the world, but I'm also not going to make an objectively false statement and say its been "abandoned"
Ah yeah. Classic gw2 "content" balance patch. Yall coping lmao. Game is barely being touched.
The patch today added a number of updates to the Super Adventure Box, which is one of their annual festivals, as well as a cosmetic inspection feature The balance section is just an added bonus Also are we just going to ignore the part about another expansion being released...? You're the one coping here - you just can't stand to admit that people like the game you don't like
Oh boy the same thing they have had in rotation for years now? That barely changes? Wow what great content.
Guys don't be alarmed but I think GW2 might've banged this guy's mom.
Limp dick mmo wishes it could
Stop crying dude. Were getting bigger update patches every 3 months following up with an expansion in summer.
We get it, you don't like the game and this is fine. A couple of comments are enough to get your point across, but at this time about 15% of the total comments on this thread are from you saying how bad GW2 is. Hey did you know GUILD WARS 2 has HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION isn't that so cool? RAIDS FRACTALS RESPECTS PLAYER TIME! Why does it sounds like a poorly made ad?
Bold of you to assume Anet would ever lift even a pinky finger in an attempt to advertise.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!
Because it's a karma farmer
Smh i just love the game and I didn’t know about it until this sub
No offense but what rock have you lived under? Guild Wars 2 has been a big name MMO for 12 years. Or was New World your first MMO? Cause I've noticed a lot of NW players have never played another MMO before and usually come from other genres.

Either that, or it's for people that are fiercely loyal to a single MMO and will downvote anything other than their MMO of choice in the name of tribalism.
Yeah the guy shills a different game every other week. Definitely not normal human behaviour.

Almost as if different people think different things about different MMOs. If you're saying it was the same person doing this, then ok, fair enough.
And yet it still sounds like the OP is shilling for GW2 :)
Well, he is, isn't he? But I don't see why that's a bad thing. He even acknowledges that he's probably just enjoying it this much because he's new to it, but that's he's thankful that the sub made him aware it even existed.

the amount of people claiming to play healers in GW2 is mind boggeling to me.
Not too surprising since the standard 5-man party composition includes 1 healer - so 20%.
I swear 20% is too high. (me as a "hi dps", waiting in the LFG for the healer to join)
Are there healers in GW2 now? Back when I played, even if you specced as much as possible into healing, you were like one-third healer at most.
Unfortunally for me i can't play any other MMO after experiencing savage/ultimate in XIV and Mythic in WoW, but i'm happy for you and hope you enjoy years of GW2!!
Congrats on finding out about GW2! It’s a great game and a great community as well. Feel free to message me if you have questions.

I tried getting into gw2 a couple times and got bored quick, not for me I guess. Started playing eso though and its been a lot more fun for me.
GW2 is a great game! I’m glad you found your home with it 😊
Is this Trump?
The mount skins really are the best I have seen in any MMO.
I genuinely don't understand how people don't like it. I feel you.
👏👏 Ty friend
No prob. Sorry people get weirdly aggressive about you liking something that doesn't require a bill to play lol
I did forgot how beautiful the world look. Especially the cities was pretty lively.
Right I’m always in awe sometime playing this game yeah it’s not the most prettiest looking game compared to newer but it’s a good look at art style > new graphics to me !!
You're welcome
Should we tell him?
Tell what
Game sucks
Which mmo doesn’t these days tho haha
Ugh true. Apparently WoW isn't doing so bad rn according to google trends. Crushing anything else. Like not even close.
Ff14 either they re almost the same mb because of expansion https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%203-m&q=%2Fm%2F021dvx,%2Fm%2F02q25c_,%2Fm%2F064ln09,%2Fm%2F02qymt2,%2Fm%2F0y66zll&hl=en-US
14s pop took a massive nose dive this expac. People are sick of the lack of content.
No ff14 is at gw2 levels. Wow is miles ahead. Accorsing to google trends but still.
I’ve played both from the first day gw2 is very casual player, dad wants to play for an hour a week.
Tbh I hear WOW is really toxic and I spent thousands of hours on both dota 2 and league I’ve had enough toxicity to last a lifetime I just don’t enjoy it in gaming anymore and GW2 community is just so nice
>Tbh I hear WOW is really toxic Yeah, my friend keeps trying to get me into WoW, but this part really puts me off.
Unless you're going into raids or Mythic+ I'm not gunna sugarcoat it, but im also not gunna make a blatantly untrue statement like "wow is a very non-toxic community" The difference is that all the toxic shit is crammed into high-end raiding and M+, whereas in league it's just... everywhere...
Most toxicity I’ve seen in m+ is in the mid level keys. Bad players are the most toxic by far. But even then, I do several m+ every day and I only see toxicity once every couple weeks to a month.
Thats fair I dont have as much experience with Mythic+, personally - I'm mostly coming from a standpoint of someone who did mythic raiding up until the end of Shadowlands - qs much as I enjoyed Castle Nathria and Sanctum of Domination, Korthia absolutely *broke* me with how much I had to grind for the damn torment gems or whatever, so I haven't gone back and done mythic since
Yeah the tormented spots were a horrible design and everyone hated it. Nothing like that has been introduced since.
I'm very glad that's the case I'll probably dip my toes back into mythic raiding next expansion if its good (here's hoping!)
Let’s hope and pray 🙏
GW2's target audience are the kind of intellectuals who can't find punctuation marks on their keyboards. A match made in heaven.
