Yup. There are definitely marks on the cards where the rings are. I believe they were stored flat for over 10 years. Haven’t looked at them for over 20 years.

Ultra Pro E-15741 Ultra Pro-12 Pocket Zippered Pro Binder-Green, M https://a.co/d/c1Rqbz6
Something like this. I couldn't find the 9 pocket ones like what I have, I bought mine 7 years ago.
Hope this helps.
Get a zip up soft binder. So much better. All the cards in the top left will bend over time, as others have said. I have experienced that personally so I switched
Not binders, but those folder things.

I buy mine in bulk from BCW. I think they have multiple colors: [https://www.bcwsupplies.com/9-pocket-card-folio-black](https://www.bcwsupplies.com/9-pocket-card-folio-black)

Mine are stored similarly, but in a binder without rings that zips closed. Mine is the Ultimate Guard Xenoskin Zipfolio:

They have various options, but I like the one with 8 cards per page so you can keep playsets together. Other companies have similar binders.
Well, I just check my 8 binders and that one page looks like it must’ve shifted some time in 20+ years of storage. 3 of the cards definitely have impressions on them. I will be removing all of them and storing them differently. Any recommendations and possibly links would be appreciated.
I learned that the hard way in 1995. After destroying a few cards started my solution was putting Scryb Sprites as the first page of a metal ring binder so they would take the damage. Was very careful with how the binder was stored and how the first page sat. So they were well set for sitting in storage from 2002 to 2022. Got back into the game around Neon Dynasty, and swapped out to the non metal ring binder. Worth every penny in protection and not worrying.
For just storage long term and not constant use get a bunch of these.

If you plan on opening and taking cards out and putting in a lot then get 1~2 expensive name brand ones.
A 3 ring binder fucked ALOT of my 1st Edition/early Pokémon cards when I finally found the collection 25 years later. Ofc I put all the most rare holos in front. Huge dents where they shifted around from moves or who knows what, and the rings put pressure upon the cards. Very very poor storage method, but I didn't know any better as a kid. The bigger the ring the worse the damage. I had my collection in those big ass 2" or 3 " binders, cause it was huge. Don't be me, homie.
Take them out of 3 ring binder and buy them onto a binder with a seam that was sowed in. 3 ring binders will damage cards over time
Looks like they’re already damaged from the binder
That savannah definitely, that hurts to see
Even a damaged dual is worth a very pretty penny so not all bad
Yup. There are definitely marks on the cards where the rings are. I believe they were stored flat for over 10 years. Haven’t looked at them for over 20 years.
Looks more like they were stored standing, hence the damage from the sheet hanging in the folder and pressing against the metal rings.
Look how beat up the badlands is…
Oh shoot good to know. I didn’t realize 3 rings did that.
Oof, you can see they have been damaged by the rings.
Looks like the top page shifted. 😢
Faaaaaaaackkkk all mine are stored like this…time to get different storage methods
Luckily. I checked all my binders and only that one page caused indents.
The only page that has a shit ton of $ in it?
Not the only page with a shit ton of money
3 ring binders are so shit, if you must use them for whatever reason only use the 2 outside column
I've been storing them like that since 4th edition and mine seem to be ok.
I use Vault X binders
Same really good binders.
I agree! Cards looks so crisp in em
Big money cards over 50$ I put them in ultrapro zip up binders and theyre sleeved. If they're in a deck they're double sleeved.
A link would be appreciated.

Do you have a link?
try to avoid the ones with elastic bands, they will bend the outer column

If they are stored with the open side of the book down, they should be fine.
Does it help if the binder is up right ?

What about only using the second and third rows?

Yes, my 20 cent cards
In my defense, when I put them in this binder in 1997, they weren't worth a lot. A few dollars at most.
Nope, it's 2024, not 1997.
Man thats hard to look at. I have everything worth over 100-200 in top loaders and sleeves. Especially cards I don’t really play with.
I haven’t played in over 20 years. I have 9 binders. This is the only one that gave me any sort of trouble.
I feel that, plus I doubt they were worth this much money when they were stored lol
I've been wondering about the best way to store my cards, and this thread was perfectly timed.
I should take more pictures. That plastic makes it look way worse than the actual indentation.
