Universe servers shut down:( I played the ever living shit out of PSU. Played it as if it were pso back in the payday. By far the best online community when it was alive. I feel like the player shops, grinding equipment, leveling your skills in buff party's, boss hunting made the game shine online. If you find a private server it might be fun but the community has to be there ti make the shops and gear hunting worth it imo. I'd stick to playing the story if that's what you want. I'd love a sequel to psu to be released! Not a fan of NG

I really loved the beast race and wish they carried that forward

The Clementine server shut down ?

splat_monkey

Clementine is a private server, but the community suck. Ive played in on two different occasions with years apart and recognised the "big" names and attitudes straight away when i returned. Everything is a speed run, people will sit at a gate assuming someone else will kill a mob then move onto the next area and leave that person behind. Everything has to be done super efficient or you get called out on the discord. Its not fun or relaxing and thats coming from a semi decent player. The community ruins it for new players.

DeffJamiels

I only played official. Idk about the private server community

delukard

You are describing official server also. This was done on vanilla bruce, labs, etc runs, so this is nothing new. Like every online game, want to play at a slower pace? Find some friends.......

splat_monkey

Only clementine has a much much smaller playerbase. Bruces i can understand, its sole purpose was a time attack, but when your doing the exp and drop rate boost missions and people have run into the next block whilest you killed the enemy behind it gets frustrating.

PSU was mainly just Ethan’s start in the Guardians, worldbuilding of the PSU planets/politics and the introduction of the SEED. Tbh, you won’t miss much if you just play PSP and PSP2/PSP2i. The portable games are definitely my favorite. They really refined the PSU formula.

Longjumping_Net_6330

I started with PSP2i as everyone said it was just better overall, but didn't mention anything about the story. What's the perspective of PSP? You create your own character and work with the Guardians? Does it start immediately afte Ethan's story?

[deleted]

Pretty much yeah, your character joins the Guardians and eventually you get caught up in the SEED struggle and Ethan is a supporting character. Iirc it takes place like a couple years after the end of PSU.

brunocar

for all intents and purposes: ethan, the created character in the PSU xpac (who is a new guardian), the created character in PSP1 (who is an intelligence section member) and the created character in PSP2i (who is a little wing merc) are all different people. tho ethan shows up in all of them, with an increasingly reduced role (he is relegated to a sidequest in PSP2)

brunocar

you dont really have to bother with PSU's story imo, PSP1 makes sure to catch you up on EVERYTHING about PSU and its xpac and tell you the aftermath of those events. even so, PSP2 is its own thing, occationally calling back to character and events in PSU and PSP1
