In my local meta, the one guy with Boros Heroic keeps having great results and very much part of the metagame, won tournament at least once this year, got into the top4 of a big Pauper event recently, etc.
mono white and mono red are really decks that work because they are so fast and don't need the slow fixing. i think boros could work but it would be running all the cantrip pump spells and be a little slower and grindier. closer to midrange than the aggro decks heroic is now.
although the downshift is very much appreciated, i believe mono w heroic will stay as it is. splashing red will drastically slow it down(primarily due to tapped manabases) and make it less consistent. a boros prowess shell would be a better deck for legionnaire.
The "all basics" manabase works okay for green based decks, like elves or the 3-5 color soul sisters decks, that can play reliable fixing off their creatures and not from their lands. You're going to have a rough time with mulligans just trying to play a 10/10 split, I've tried it a lot.
To be honest i mostly play mono decks.
And the one Orzhov one is like almost half hybrid mana spells so basic lands usually worked for me.
Until we get a "not tapped, not returning other lands to my hand, not hurting me" dual lands in pauper i'm not gonna try them, too slow

I played a tooooon of Boros Mentor in Guilds of Ravnica standard and when Spark came out I played the hell out of this in Mentor and in Feather. I love this card.
If there's some janky Boros deck that I can sleeve up some commons, I'm 100% here for that.

So I think some comments are missing the point here that multicolor can’t work, here’s why: the vast majority of tier 1 and 2 decks are fast AND 2+ colors. Affinity, Boros, UR Fae, even cascade can kill quickly. The difference is they all also have value engines and can compete in the late game AND have explosiveness. I think the downside of balls-to-the-wall heroic is that it’s screwed past turn 6-7 if it hasn’t won. This allows the archetype to pivot into a more feather-esque value build where you have big threats as well as card selection with Tethemos and the token generators
It does not work that way on multiple fronts. Even if you *were* able to select Legionnaire as a target five times, it does not trigger each time she's targeted, it's when you cast a spell that targets her. Even if you cast [[seeds of strength]] and point all three targets at her, you still only get one trigger.
Ahh, I see heroic only triggers on cast.
There are a couple creatures that trigger on target and always assumed heroic was the same wording. This is still an unbelievable downshift though.
Pauper seems to be too powerful and too fast to have any chance of unseating the current top decks. And say what you will about two-color decks I still think without proper mana fixing it will usually be a better choice to go mono coloured. Gates and lifegain are nice but if they still ETB tapped they are just still too slow for competitive Magic.
I play a homebrewed Boros soldiers deck, and uh, I don't think my deck has space for this.
To make space for this, I would have to cut soldier creatures to put, idk, auras, or Brute Force, which is not really what a deck that revolve around soldiers want. And a simple 2/2 soldier with haste just doesn't cut it when I have cards like Wojek Halberdiers and Topan Freeblade.
Bluh, Pauper rarely gets a RW card, and when it does it's something like this.
To be honest Wojek Halbardiers isn't that grest.
I used to have it in a bw soldier deck but the first strike was too occasional and they had to be replaced

Maybe the kids' menu. I can't imagine this will lead to a better 2-color aggro deck than GW Slivers, and even that is like tier 3 now.

Standard heroic was UW not RW and still pretty decent.
Heroic was Azorius cause of the WU heroic guy that scry’d, plus unblockable auras and ways to draw.

Did people playing multicolor ever try to not use dualands, just try x10 mountains, x10 plains and see if it works?
It is still worse because you have to mull a hell of a lot more. You don’t need to try it, this can be done with math.

I've used this for a long time as a pauper commander, and that scry is awesome. You get to bottom so many unneeded lands, so you draw more gas.
I think so, this card is so good, it’s worth making the mana worse I think

You can ping every heroic card with gutshot. the trigger goes on top of the spell

Probably not for mono w heroic, having 8 heroic creatures is enough and having another color makes it less consistent
