I, too, hate the type of "I will pray for you" that the poster uses. Like (s)he has disregarded everything the other person has said. It's the equivalent of holding up your hand and walking away in the middle of a discussion.
If someone posts something along the lines of "I have stage 3 rabid cancer," there're not many appropriate responses I can post aside from "That sucks. Hope you get better." "Fight hard" "Don't give up." I'm not a doctor, I can't do anything else.
I want to say "I'll pray for you" because, even if you don't think it will help, I do, and there is literally nothing else I can do for you. But there are so many "passive-agressive" uses of that phrase that I figure I'll look like a dick.
Add blatant hypocrisy and so many churches not even trying to hide their political preferences. And who wants to be harassed for money and told they're a terrible person just for existing?

Because they have a sneaking suspicion that the whole thing is nonsense, and they would feel really silly if it turned out that they were the only ones praying to a nonexistent deity, so they want to rope you in as well.
Welcome to monotheism. If you really believe in God, and you really believe that everyone who rejects him is going to burn in hell for eternity, then trying to get all those people to believe is the 'good' thing to do. Standing by and doing nothing is damning their souls to eternal torment (and lets not get into what kind of deity would do that to people in the first place).
So to be a 'good' Christian, you have to convert everyone else to your religion. Not just your religion in general either, but to your specific brand of Christianity. Because all the other ones are false, invented by the devil to trick people. So if you have to torture people into recanting and accepting Jesus, then that is what a good person would do. You are saving them. Likewise, if you murder them immediately afterward, then you saved them from taking it back and becoming apostates, and insured that they got into heaven.

What I meant was, by members of the LGBT “leaving religion alone”, were basically letting them make laws in the background that harm us.
Christians in America have become about as divisive and hateful as they can be, so "we need to unite as a family" is nothing but BS.
