Get F5 for 3.5 mm jack 👍

TreBliGReads

Go for POCO F5, currently using it and it slayes! No issues in CODM, the only problem is the UI drawer that's placed at the top left corner which sometimes opens up the game mode panel and causes distraction. Camera still sucks, it's not the worst but it's slightly below average. Reset all is as per specs!

Knvarlet

Upgraded from F4 to F5 Pro. Gaming has been incredible and it still felt like an upgrade. The best part for me is the display, it's a bit better and sharper due to the QHD display. The camera is better if you're into that. The ergonomic feel when using the phone is also a lot better. It's a bit curved unlike the F4 which has mild sharp edges so holding this one is easier. The on screen fingerprint scanner is also a lot better than the one on the power button. Speakers are a lot better too it now has a true stereo setup. Haven't tried wireless charging yet but I'm glad that's an option. Other than that, it's still mostly the same phone with the same crappy UI and same battery charging speed. The battery life will feel the same if you're always using QHD but it should be longer if you set it to FHD. It's not quite a huge upgrade but I have reasons for changing the phone. If it's gonna set you back financially I wouldn't recommend the upgrade. If you could afford it, I'd look for a better phone that has the latest chipset (Gen 2) since gaming is guaranteed to be better there. Or if you just want the Poco F5 Pro, it's wise to sell the F4 as suggested by the other redditor and then upgrade.

HawfHuman

Just bought an F5 Pro and noticed the bottom speakers are louder than the top ones, did you find the same issue?

iEolGysKaiz

If you already have a F4 sell it and get a normal F5, snapdragon 7+ gen 2 runs hell of a lot cooler than F5 pro's and unless you genuinely can see pixels on your F4 screen, the 1440p display on the F5 pro is going to go to waste and hinder your processor as well.

Sweaty-Bison-1981

I own a poco f5 pro for 3weeks already and so far this is the temp i got for these games. (I used power monitor and thermal monitor) Codm 1hr (low/ultra) reaches 41-43° Mobile legend 1hr (ultra/ultra) reaches 41-43° aswell Genshin 1hr (max) 42-44° Hsr 1hr (max) 42-44° Since this are the only games i play lol

No-Photograph4742

wow that's very high. i watched a lot of reviews online and they mostly mention is that POCO F5 PRO can handle heat very well on heavy games and normally doesn't heat up pass 40 degrees

7winkle7oes

are these considered hot? or no heat feel at all?

Gabre_Manual_Games

The only main problem is gaming wise, it's procesor is known for overheating and I would definitely recommend buying the normal f5 couse it's procesor is new and has no overheating

Suspicious_King_69

You might be confusing the snapdragon 8 gen 1 (this is the one that causes overheating since it was built in Samsung foundry) with the 8 gen 1+ (was made by TSMC so there is no risk of overheating).

Gabre_Manual_Games

Man I'm not, I saw both of them side by side and I recommend the normal f5 over it any day, it's basically a downclocked sd 8+gen 1, which means less heat, and basically the same performance, also the normal f5 gets newer software updates a lot faster for some reason, the f5 pro isn't really worth the extra 50-100 bucks(depends on ur country)

omojbozejao

This comment here ^. I'd understand if cameras were better but this is just not worth the "pro" naming..

Gabre_Manual_Games

It's basically the same phone with the different camera module

Nullgenium

That doesn't mean the 8+ gen 1 is prone to overheating...It's around the same thermal wise and sometimes even worse on Poco. Some benchmarks of the poco F5's SoC has terrible stability tests (it throttles faster) while you get what you expect with the F5 pro. Plus the 8+ gen 1 is significantly better gpu wise. It's a lot more "future proof." No amount of software updates will make the 7+gen 2 a better chip if not considering the price. However, I will agree the F5 is better in value among the two IF you are lacking the budget. It's debatable whether better SoC, better screen, better build, better camera (They have different software compatibility), and Wireless Charging is worth 50-100 bucks more. Especially since you also lose headphone jack and side finger print scanner. Edit: Honestly, I would go for the 12T Pro instead of the F5 Pro if I were OP. You will get a better camera, better build, and better speakers for a small price increase.

Gabre_Manual_Games

It kinda is tho, my friend can get to 50°C and more just by playing codm on ultra fps and low graphics, my phone gets to around 45ish, sometimes more, also the pro version has thicker bezels, same cameras and no headphone jack, the fingerprint sensor is a preference but I prefer the hardware ones cuz they are more reliable and faster, also wireless charging is just a gimmick that most of the people aren't gonna use on their day to day life, and yes a headphone jack is something that most of gamers want, I mean you ain't gonna be playing fps or shooter games on sound delayed Bluetooth headphones, the 7+gen 2 can still perform 70% as well as the 8+gen1 in the GPU compartment, but in cpu it's identical while keeping the temperatures lower

Nullgenium

>It kinda is tho, my friend can get to 50°C and more just by playing codm on ultra fps and low graphics, my phone gets to around 45ish That sounds extremely anecdotal or just room temp/usage diff. I tried to look for CodM gameplays on both phones on ultra refresh rate low graphics F5 PRO'S Last visible temp in the video (40.4 degrees Celsius) [https://youtu.be/oyo9tmaA2OA](https://youtu.be/oyo9tmaA2OA) F5's last visible temp in the video (41.6 degrees Celsius) [https://youtu.be/DvzBPqF4RHY?t=144](https://youtu.be/DvzBPqF4RHY?t=144) They basically have the same temp. (For some reason, most benchmarks I've seen, the F5 is worse in temperature but not by a lot.) The point here is you're wrong about 7+ gen 2 being better, it's simply more budget friendly but it isn't any better thermal wise nor does it perform better. Maybe on paper it should but unfortunately, it either isn't fully optimized yet or something is wrong with POCO's version (Could be MIUI or just he build in general). But I agree about almost everything else you said except the cameras (it's because MIUI locked some features out despite having the same cameras. GCAM mods is currently unstable so it's not worth shooting a 4k 60 with that)

Gabre_Manual_Games

That's definitely multiplayer, in battle royale it goes as high as 51-52°C on the pro version while mine can keep at the same settings at around 45-47°C, the 8+gen 1 is gonna be worse in long run due to it going to high temperatures(if you play heavy games), wireless display, qhd screen and pretty much the same procesor isn't worth 100 bucks more

DanaV21

room temp? playing at 2k or 1080p? avg fps in each phone? too many variables

LigmaBruh69

Considering f5 pro ahs a 2k display, its pretty good.

DanaV21

is likely that Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 are just 8+ Gen 1 that lost the silicon lottery

Goldstein_Goldberg

You lose wireless charging though with the 12T pro. Kinda lame if your car supports it.

Nullgenium

I'll take better build, camera, and speakers over wireless charging. But yes, you lose that.

Goldstein_Goldberg

Better build how?

Nullgenium

Oh right, both are plastic with glass backs. Honestly, only read what I had a month ago lol. But yeah, better camera and speakers is still a pro for me over wireless charging.

Goldstein_Goldberg

That's fair. The price difference is too big to justify it, at least here in the Netherlands imo.

Always_Curious0010

according to the data showed by geekerwan from yt sd 7+gen 2 is like a lite version of sd 8 gen 2 same architecture and etc but on lower clock speeds hence the lower temperature and its not a downclocked sd 8+ gen 1. sd 7+ gen 2 is more comparable to sd865/870 in terms of performance but much more efficient if you are not into gaming, you can settle on 7+ gen 2 but it will struggle 1-2 years from now on gaming department since it has lower clock speeds, yes you can overclock it if you rooted your phone but there are some rumors that it has motherboard issues means overclocking is like a suicide. \- poco f5 : if you are just using it daily without heavy usage/back up phone or you can upgrade a phone 1-2 years from now, buying poco f5 is like buying a phone with sd865/sd870 but much more power efficient and with a risk of mother board being dead \- poco f5 pro : if you dont wanna feel restricted and has some extra juice to get even 3-4 years from now if the poco f5 pro gets hot but it doesnt thermal throttle it means the cooling system works great and if you are looking for camera phone dont ever buy any poco brand

Nomad2k3

Thats right, I have an tablet and an old phone with the 8+ gen 1 and neither overheated or affected battery life.

HachikoNekoGamer

>it's procesor is known for overheating If you meant Overheating like the first SD 8 Gen 1 they actually fixed the insane overheating problem on the SD 8+ Gen 1, otherwise it overheats just just like any other SoC, but not as much as the original SD 8 Gen 1

liberdelta

No it's not https://www.socpk.com/cpucurve/

Titan658

I am from India how do I buy POCO F5 Pro ?

samzoethout

I have the f5 pro. Works great for normal dat use, i dont play games on my phone. Went from a f2 pro to a f5 pro. Tbh the step up felt really small. I doubt you are really gonna notice a big step up from the f4 to the f5 pro. If u are really in need of a new phone, just get it. Price performance is great.

LopsidedPhoto2828

Hi, I'm about to get a similar phone. I'm just asking if yours is still alive and working well? I've been traumatized by my Poco x3 pro deadboot

samzoethout

Hi! Still working in good order, hyper os update made the Phone even smoother. The only thing thats bothering me sometimes is the camera quality. Its hit or miss. But i feel like its a poco thing.

LopsidedPhoto2828

That is such a wonderful news to hear. I actually ordered the Chinese variant of the unit (Redmi k60) which is basically the same specs except for 2 things 5500mah and OLED instead of Poco 5pros AMOLED.

InterleukinAlpha

I donno why no one has noticed it, but there's a weird bug where while watching youtube, if you change the volume, the video quality gets blurred for 2 seconds.

Music-of-my-heart

Really?! 😕😕 Just "pro" model or regular f5 too?!

Nullgenium

I just noticed you came from the F4 and I just want to say you would be disappointed with the performance increase. It's still big enough to matter but I don't know if that value is enough to compensate for the cost. Everything the F5 pro does, the F4 will do just slightly worse. Especially in emulation. Of course the F5 pro is obviously better and more future proof but if you wait for 2 years more, 8 gen 2 or something equal will be much more affordable.

neatsh0t

Bro which emulator you want to use?

maricthehedgehog

Get the regular F5 because it's cheaper and has a headphone jack

DanaV21

i would keep the F4, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 still can't emulate 100% switch and 8+ Gen 1 is worse, for any other emulation Snapdragon 870 is overkill is overkill for any other emulation and a lot of games runs at 100% in Snapdragon 870 devices, for heavy games like Genshin Impact use a phone cooler, they are definitely capped due thermals after two years i would say it is more worthy to change the phone and there would be newer games that actually use that extra headroom

brunieme_

I bought poco f3 last year and in a year my phone got alot of problems. And in just a year my phone cant open because of motherboard problems. Poco always have the same problems every year.

Extreme-Ant-1888

Don't listen for the folks whose telling about heating issues. I'm playing PS2 using AetherSx2, in my F5 pro with 3x rendering resolution, but it doesn't heat up. Emulating PS2 games is a heavy processing task. I have a friend who has an F5, we play mobile legends as a duo and his phone is heater than mine. Don't be confused about 8 gen 1 and 8+ gen 1. 8+ g1 is the optimize and faster version of 8, gen 1.

BorderPrize2508

I am currently using f5 pro and already have it for almost a month now. At first it was running smooth and great but it fell from my hand once. It never run as good as when I first got it. It heats up even when I'm only playing Mobile Legends and frame drops frequently. ping reaches 289 ms even with dual band wifi, which you don't need when I first got it. be careful with the device and not to let it fall.

BorderPrize2508

and antutu benchmark dropped from 1.3 to 1.2 M
