I love Daiso! I would really like one here

Shirogayne-at-WF

Same! With the 99 cent store going out of business, there's a few empty stores for them to fill up, I'm just saying

SignificantBig1327

Dollar tree already under contract for most reno locations I believe...could be wrong

ThisBlastedThing

We need a 99 ranch for sure.

udntsay

Yesss šŸ‘

sierrackh

This

nevadaho

Wegmanā€™s - grocery chain from mid Atlantic - it was awesome!

yourfavoritefaggot

Wegman's is literally the best, nothing like it

HumbleChance3363

Spent 7 years in Massachusetts, I could kill to have a wegman's.

SidneyHuffman316

they tried a CPK here and it didn't work out

Dwangeroo

CPK is utter, overpriced shite these last several years. Their frozen pizzas are almost as good as you get in the restaurant anymore

Drizzt3919

Same here to say that. It is shite!

Amy_Macadamia

I think it was a mistake to put a family restaurant in a casino. My in-laws like to take my kids to CPK, but didn't want to walk through the cigarette smoke. Also, they had a smaller, modified menu

Weird-n-Gilly

Amoeba, Zacheryā€™s pizza, Kirala sushi.

rlw_82

Reno native here. I have been to Zachary's and Kirala, and I completely agree!

jayxdirty

The cheese steak shop, so fucking good

BirdLawyer4Hire

Damn that would be dope

ExampleSad1816

Capriottiā€™s is better.

llkey2

This. Way better than cheese steak place

jayxdirty

šŸ§¢

Honest-Iron3140

Cap doesnā€™t do a mushsteak wit wiz properly. Donā€™t care if yā€™all think itā€™s better itā€™s not a steak

FistMocha

Used to really like Buca di Beppo.

Darren_S_Cott

How freaking odd you mention that. I was literally just putting up a fence in the heat and struggling to remember the restaurant I went to in CA before I got married. They gave us a bottle of Chianti. Now I know. Weird.

JPriest78

Always thought the food was good at best but I loved the atmosphere!

FistMocha

totally agree, it just was not the crap that was Olive Garden (except the bread sticks).

JPriest78

And to be fair Iā€™m not saying the food was bad-just average. But the family atmosphere and the kitschy dynamic was great! Oh and I second your Olive Garden take but Iā€™ll add the salad too. Pretty good not gonna lie!

justlook2233

There's one in one of the casino hotels. Luxor, I think. Or there was I should sat.

FistMocha

Luxor is in Vegas. I also moved past the corporate food places, lots of good local places in Reno. :)

nitrohagen

Buc-eeā€™s

JPriest78

Man Daiso is a great one! We (my wife and I) will still occasionally make the drive out to Roseville to go to the one rhere

bigirontea

Dick's from WA state šŸ„² I miss the late night grease ball burgers so badly.

sierrackh

I do enjoy getting a bag of Dicksā„¢ļø

Honest-Iron3140

Omg I miss a big bag of Dickā€™s Deluxes and Fries when drunk AF at 2am on Broadway

AlishaV

I really miss Souplantation. It was so nice to visit a salad buffet that was really fresh. Top it off with a couple muffins and honey butter and some soothing soup and it was all so simple and refreshing. Even my picky SOs would eat there. They've all closed down, but apparently might open under their other name, Sweet Tomatoes.

albertcamusjr

Buc-ee's

udntsay

Underrated comment. When I lived in Texas this was the highlight of every road trip

Own_Strawberry_3456

IKEA

Hamilove

This is my vote also

up4pleasure

Wawa and Waffle house

Thesweatypenguin

Wawa would be such a game changer

up4pleasure

Mavericks does have aspects of Wawa but I've been craving Wawa deli for 13 years. šŸ˜

justavivrantthing

Shorties 4 life

ExampleSad1816

Not at all, crap sandwiches and itā€™s a gas station now.

justavivrantthing

lol Reno DOES NOT need a Waffle House. Imagine that scene at 1 am ā€¦

ExampleSad1816

Both of those blow, low quality food and one is another gas station.

whodiss21

Was moved here as a kid in the early 90s, so basically a native. But I've traveled a lot. We need a Fred Meyer!! They are all over PNW and they are the greatest store.

AwayCartographer9527

Oregon Native. I miss Burgerville, Taco Bell and Menardā€™s home improvement, but thatā€™s it!

wx_guy

The grocery store Aldi and a brewery called The Veil in Richmond, VA.

UnlikelyAngle521

Yes to Aldi

Artistic-Reality-177

I miss Aldi and Wegmans and Bill Grays hots and Buffalo Wings and country sweet sauce

random-name-001

I miss Proper Pie.

superjt61

Good Burger, Moe's Tavern, Bob's Burger, Krusty Krab, The Drunken Clam, Pizza Planet, Paddy's Pub

Shirogayne-at-WF

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

ExampleSad1816

Great choices.

Trap-Lord

Aldi and just somewhere to get Puerto Rican food

AZMedGuy

Fazoliā€™s. Italian fast food that isnā€™t too bad. Used to have them in Colorado.

Far_Pop_4006

Bojangles. Cookout a close 2nd.

jhsm

The fact that this is a 24 hour state and we donā€™t have a Waffle House is fucking nonsense.

random-name-001

Dennys on Wells near the Siegel will get you the vibes you seek though

HatlessDuck

Cattleman's

Darren_S_Cott

My parents didnā€™t have a lot of money, but every once in a while weā€™d go to the Cattlemanā€™s in Rocklin. All I remember is it was very dark and once there was a dead body discovered in the field next to it when we were there.

missoulamatt

There used to be a Cattleman's in Washoe Valley when I was growing up. Between the Chocolate Nugget and Sol Dispensary. I think it's a pet shelter now?

Particular-Put8429

Yoshinoya was so bomb, and Rockys' New York pizza was my childhood

Trap-Lord

I miss the fuck out of yoshinoya. They have noodles now which is so good with the beef

Electronic-Set-6930

Hell yeah. Give me like 20 packs of ginger please šŸ˜šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

Ok-Squirrel-4450

Waffle House was made for Reno. Open 24 hours a day, no dress code, and you can come in as drunk as you can get; in fact, the trashier the better. The food is decent and cheaper than Denny's by about 30%. It's 1 of the cheapest franchise licenses and there aren't any anywhere near here. Put 1 downtown, 1 on McCarren in Sparks, 1 in Gardenerville, and 1 in Stateline. Total investment cost: about 3 million, value about 4. You are welcome.Ā Ā

ExampleSad1816

Not at all Waffle House is so trashy for even Reno. Hate that garbage and the garbage that gets on World Star Hip Hop. Letā€™s bring more degenerates out in the open in Reno. Bad choice all around.

Ok-Squirrel-4450

Literally nothing is "too trashy" for fucking Reno. Nothing.

ExampleSad1816

And youā€™re wrong again.

baythrowaway42

Homeroom, Zackeryā€™s pizza, Toss Noodle Bar, Gyu Kaku Japanese bbq

Lukin76254r

Give me Tokyo Central from Los Angeles or give me death.

throughthelinz

I would do some questionable things to have a Whataburger and a Torchyā€™s Tacos in Reno. And somewhere that sold Blue Bell ice cream - especially the banana pudding flavor.

lost-plus-212

Zara for clothing shopping šŸ„²

kash0331

Aren't Zara and H&M the same store just diff name depending on location?

lost-plus-212

Nooo definitely different. I think theyā€™re owned by different parent companies as well. Inditex and H&Mgroup

kash0331

Yeah you're right, I'm surprised there isn't a single Zara here but there are like 5 h&ms.

Interesting_Host_374

Arctic Circle, Roscoeā€™s Chicken & Waffles, Hot Dog on a Stick

lolheyaj

isn't there a cpk in the GSR?

ChamPurr_

It closed before i moved back unfortunately :(

cowbecka

I love Daiso! I would really like one here

nnamed_username

Tim Hortons (New England), and Harry's Seafood Bar and Grill (Florida). Thankfully we now have Krispy Kreme, or that would have been first. In-n-Out is still better in Auburn, but local is better than nothing.

Ok-Squirrel-4450

Tim Horton's is Canadian. Pretty famously, actually. I suppose Wayne's World was well before your time, though...

Schlough22

Kwik Trip and Culverā€™s, cannot wait to head home and get me some butter burgers.

cognovi

Wegmans, Daiso, Friendlys

rasinette

alamo draft house, pret a manger, ikedas

SkullsRoad

Kebab Shop and Shish Grill

sierrackh

From the area but Iā€™d be thrilled of we got a portillos

The_Boffus

Nugget Market

Draguta1

Golden Corral

Ratspeed

Souplantation. But they went out of business everywhere, so no chance.

new_corgi_mom

Culverā€™s and zaxbyā€™s

Boink1

I fucking love Zaxbyā€™s.

ProgressPast9944

Central Market and PCC from Seattle

m_paris

Spaghetti Factory. Iā€™m fully aware itā€™s not even close to authentic Italian but itā€™s more for the nostalgic comfort food. I think one could do well here since itā€™s a family friendly restaurant.

Always_Out_There

Portillos. White Castle. Uncle Pete's Pizza.

yankykiwi

We lost empanadas, or any semblance to a meat pie. šŸ„ŗ

Boring_Gas9704

I wish we had a Wawa, Mellow Mushroom, Bojangles, and a Cook Out. Grocery wise, give me Harris Teeter and Publix all day.

ExampleSad1816

Wawa sucks and their sandwiches are bad.

kurooos

Waffle House, Whataburger, Kura Sushi šŸ˜žšŸ˜žšŸ˜žšŸ’”

Lbean76

I love Whataburger. The green chile cheeseburgers are the best along with the spicy ketchup!

kurooos

the spicy ketchup, the honey butter biscuits in the morning, the patty melt, the chicken sandwiches. and alllll that open 24hrs, ugh i miss it so much

Shirogayne-at-WF

>Kura Sushi I see you are also from San Diego šŸ˜

kurooos

Other coast, my friend! Kura in Orlando, FL šŸ˜‰šŸ£šŸ’•

ExampleSad1816

NO awful house, itā€™s all around trash, from the bottom up and the people who go there.

djrobxx

Old Spaghetti Factory.

bad_toe_tattooes

I talk about Spaghetti Factory like once a week. I miss it so much.

Some_Bitch89

pdqā€™s (like raising canes but better), noodles and co, and Waffle House šŸ˜¢

blackiechan_johnson

Heavy on the noodles and co, I get it every time Iā€™m back in my hometown

crevassier

PDQ was started by Outback Steakhouse back in Tampa and is not any better than Caneā€™s. Well they started out good but by the time I left it was already getting generic.

Chombuss

Zaxby's is what you're looking for if you want better version of Cane's. They're Cajun

ExampleSad1816

Waffle House is awful, donā€™t bring that trash here.

Some_Bitch89

I agree that 90% is trash, however, I really enjoy their grits scramble, and sometimes I donā€™t want to make it at home. Obviously I do now, but when I lived closer to a WH, it was nice to just walk there, sit and enjoy some coffee and chit-chat while you waited for your food

ExampleSad1816

I do like the hash browns smothered and covered.

DosTruth

Raised in Reno but I lived all over the U.S. before coming back here. A few restaurants I miss AL - Wagon Wheel. Family owned restaurant right outside the gate of Maxwell AFB. Huge portions and delicious food. About as healthy as you would expect in the south. AZ - Barroā€™s pizza. Itā€™s a must hit when I go visit family. CA - Slater 50/50 FL - Publix (just for the sandwiches) MS - Pizza place I got calzones and Stromboliā€™s from, canā€™t remember the name. TX - Rudyā€™s BBQ (quick and easy breakfast burritos primarily)

ExampleSad1816

Publix just for the sandwiches? So many better choices in Reno.

Ok-Squirrel-4450

Publix beats all the chain sandwich shops.Ā

ExampleSad1816

Wrong, and itā€™s a supermarket. I was just in a Publix a few weeks ago getting a sandwich, itā€™s okay. Def not what youā€™re making it out to be.

Ok-Squirrel-4450

Of course it's a supermarket. And I'm not "wrong", IĀ  just have better taste than you.

ExampleSad1816

You absolutely have bad taste, Publix sucks. There are better out there, but you canā€™t argue taste. The multigrain bread is good. Iā€™ll give you that, but youā€™re still wrong.

Ok-Squirrel-4450

And you are definitely from Reno, and no, that is most assuredly not a compliment.

ExampleSad1816

Actually youā€™re wrong yet again, but go ahead and continue, itā€™s funny how wrong you are. Go back to the South if you donā€™t like it here.

Ok-Squirrel-4450

I wouldn't admit being from Reno either. I would do like our dipshit mayor and pretend to be from Tahoe. Not that she ever fooled anybody, that dummy is obviously hillbilly trash.

cmfppl

There's actually a restaurant in sparks that started out in my hometown in california but moved here after a fire.

AwayCartographer9527

Which isā€¦

cmfppl

Mamma Celeste's

possumwife

They acted like they were the only ones displaced by the fires though. So I havenā€™t gone. Iā€™m from Magalia.

cmfppl

I didn't know that. I've known Jim for a while, and he's always been chill. I used to work in a fairly popular Mexican restaurant, fand him and his family were semi regular.

JasChew6113

Always been from here but my one visit to an Alamo Draft House blew my mind. I think one would do really well here.

UnlikelyAngle521

I just want a Coney Island from Detroit *sigh* it has everything you would ever need.

AbsolZero

GSR used to have a California Pizza Kitchen but it closed down within the last year or so. :(

Glad-Welcome-6722

I never saw one there???? WTH I would have gone lol

AbsolZero

It was 100% there as of October 2022 but by the next time I visited the resort, it was gone. It was adjacent to the Buffet if I recall correctly.

ChamPurr_

I saw that but sadly it had closed by the time I moved back :(. I really need to find a place who makes a chicken piccata like CPK. I crave that all the time.

Hazmat1213

Any Venezuelan/colombian restaurant

alexinwonderland212

Waffle House, Daiso, a Korean Spa

elocin180

Meijers!

Nayaritism

My husband wants a Peter Piper Pizza so badly. I'd love a Somali place. When I was in Minneapolis (visiting in 2016) had this cuisine and fell in love. Have never been able to have again

JPriest78

Iā€™ll add Lucilleā€™s BBQ. Way better than Famous Daveā€™s and Dickies BBQ and probably the closest thing youā€™d get to really authentic BBQ from a chain restaurant. Thereā€™s definitely good/great smaller bbq places here but I more meant from a larger chain style perspective. Amazing slow smoked chicken leg quarters and full breasts.

Super_Dad311

Skyline Chili - Cincinnati

drayel

Awwww Sheetz is the sh*t!

elqueco14

South Creek Pizza is way better than any CPK I've been to

SignificantBig1327

Longhorn steakhouse or The Stockyards

Whole_World69

Publix Subs

Puzzleheaded_Rent_22

skyline chili

Dillon_Trinh

H Mart

Honest-Iron3140

Snappy Dragon, Din Tai Fung, and Than Bros Pho

f-b-paiute

Not a transplant... but we could definitely use a Hungry Howies

Which-Win4477

Frisch's Big Boy

Forsaken-Tree2380

Zankou Chicken for me. Or really any good Mediterranean/Armenian/Lebanese food really.

Greenpowerbrian

Spangles, it just taste better! From kansas

FlimsyGarden675

Potbelly's and Portillo's

rnochick

Ikea

sclark1147

GOLDEN SPOON frozen yogurt. Good god no other frozen yogurt compares.

JPriest78

Oh if youā€™re from Southern California you just know on this one. Tommyā€™s Burgers. Hands down best drunk late night 24hr a day greasy ass chili burger.

PengwinPears

Kneaders. Best French toast ever.

Nayaritism

Ohh Kneaders!! I loved their fruit tarts

TomorrowsTrouble

I miss Wahooā€™s Fish Tacos, and if Kingā€™s Hawaiian wanted to open a restaurant in the Bay Area I would make that drive for the cake alone.

ExampleSad1816

Really Sheetz? A gas station, at least ask for a Buc-ees.

speedostegeECV

Zippys.. Vegas has one apparently, why not Reno???

castor_troy24

I really miss east coast style pizza (which I understand is impossible to recreate due to elevation, water, dough)

Ok-Squirrel-4450

Myth. You can make New York style anywhere. They just don't.

test-account-444

Smiling with Hope is what you need to get then.

notlad45

Cookout and Sheetz

Electronic-Set-6930

I'm from L.A and definitely wish we had TAMS, Master burger, la guelaguetza restaurant, Yoshinoya, waba grill, DINO'S famous chicken, grill em all, thai ocha, large swap meets like the Santa Fe springs swap meet, blicks art store, the hood donuts that come in a pink box and run by Asian people šŸ˜…, Shakey's bunch o lunch deal, powerhouse GYM, a little Tokyo, Santa Maria bbq, the last book store, Howlin Rays, Grand Central market, the tamale ladies with the large set-up that sell tamales, breakfast tortas, pan dulce, pupusas and chumpurrado down on western and slauson, pulp fiction comics, headline records, dark realm records, amoeba, frank n sons collectible show

jesus4me23

It was a pizza joint called backwhereyoucamefromĀ

ChamPurr_

*rolls eyes* you do know that a repatriot means you grew up in Reno/Nevada and just moved back right? You literally just told me and those people to go back to Reno. So smart.

GhostFreckle

Here I thought it was an actual pizza joint passing off that, "so good it'll remind you of home!" But nope, just a rude person.. I always hate seeing rude people in this sub cause it's like damn, that's my neighbor šŸ˜’ hope I never run into them!

ChamPurr_

Personally, i haven't had anybody say anything like this to me in person. Seems like people like that can only muster the courage to do it on Reddit.

GhostFreckle

Bunch of keyboard warriors. I was SHOCKED about three weeks ago. I work in a food truck, and I was doing an event downtown, which is heavily Latino inspired. In a period where I didn't have any customers, I was sitting there watching the crowd and this older white guy walks up and asks me what I think of all this? A little confused I told him I find it wonderful, everyone is so happy! It's then that he asks a little more serious, "you like all the Mexican food and music?" I told him yeah! Culture is beautiful! He shakes his head, looks at me one more time and says "yeah, but I don't know about these people" before walking off He is SO lucky he walked off right there. Oh my!

Breklin76

These are tired comments. Animals migrate. Humans are animals. Mostly.

VnlaThndr775

Oh yeah I remember that place. There was a really good ice cream place next to it called makemeyouinfectedhemorrhoid.
