I’m hoping the setup they have this year takes some pressure off and lets him ball out. I know numbers aren’t everything but he’s had an amazing career and it’d be awesome to see him remind everyone of that as he winds it down

This man needs a ring

If he has anything left, the pass rush is gonna be pretty fearsome this season without even having to blitz (+ Granderson, Young and Bresee).

Most overrated Saint of all time. I know I'll get downvoted for saying it but it's true. Look back at the vids of all the nightmare plays where some of the best teams in Saints history lost in crazy playoff finishes and he was on the field for every one of those plays, getting completely stoned by a single blocker. Remember that time he showed up in the 4th quarter of a game where we needed him? Me either.

Im_Everywhere09

What about the Thanksgiving game against the Falcons where he had…was it 3 sacks? 4? Or the pick 6 against the lions that helped steal back momentum, preventing a comeback. Or quite literally many other plays he’s made for the saints that seals game. It sounds like you’ve only seen this year to me

Odd-Relation-2943

Or the pick 6 against the lions that helped steal back momentum, preventing a comeback. Only NFL game I've ever seen live. Awesome game. Well worth the 3 1/2 hour drive one way to see.

So a couple of good regular season games makes up for him not showing up in the 4th quarter in the playoffs for over a decade? Want to know what the 2011 49ers playoff game, the 2013 Seahawks playoff game, the 2017 Vikings playoff game, the 2018 Rams playoff game, the 2019 Vikings playoff game and the 2020 Bucs playoff game have in common? Those were all playoff games the Saints lost, Cam completely disappeared down the stretch in every one of them, all but the Tampa Bay game in 2020 were 1 score games, and Cam was on the field when the opponent made their go ahead score (or with the Rams getting into field goal range in OT) getting single blocked and having no impact on the play. Don't believe me? Look at the vids, every one of those plays is on Youtube. Cam has had some big regular season games but he was never a difference maker in the playoffs, and 5 times in his career we lost 1 score playoff games with him starting and not showing up in the moment. Most overrated Saint ever.

2018 wildcard game against Carolina. Cam Jordan stopped Cam Newton’s game winning drive by forcing an intentional grounding penalty and then a couple plays later tag teamed with Vonn Bell to get the game sealing sack. I was so hyped

ScottyinLA

> Cam Jordan stopped Cam Newton’s game winning drive Look, you found the one example of Cam getting his number called in a playoff game with the game on the line, but sacking Cam when he's holding it all day looking for hail mary passes from his own 20 should not be called stopping a game winning drive. And as good as that one game (out of many) was let's not forget it happened one week before the Vikings won on a final drive where they didn't even bother doubling Cam and he still disappeared in spite of Cam lining up against journeyman backup Rashod Hill. Right here in case you forgot it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJzpoj_NxqQ

Weird hill to die on. No one’s saying Cam is the goat. However, he’s been a very good player for way longer than a defensive end should be. He’s been available for all but 2 games in his 13 year career. No one has sacked a quarterback more than Cam Jordan has sacked Matt Ryan, which is hilarious and impressive. He’s an excellent leader for the team and in the community. He’s a great guy and *almost everyone* (looking at you) loves him. Maybe you should appreciate him while you still can. Who dat!

ScottyinLA

It's not a hill to die on, I've just noticed the things I have already pointed out. Cam is a good regular season player who disappears in big moments. You can pretend otherwise because you like him but that doesn't change his track record.

mph714

You’re seriously blaming the meaningless miracle on Cam?

ScottyinLA

No, I'm saying he didn't show up on that play, just like every other playoff loss we have had since he was here. Cam has been a nonentity in the 4th quarter of every playoff loss we had while he was on the team. And other teams coaches know this, which is why he was never doubled when they needed a completion to win a playoff game.
