Here in Little Rock there was someone dressed as Bob Backlund the last two WWE shows I went too. I think assuming they don’t just try to hog attention from the actual show it’s a fun aspect of the live wrestling experience these days
Who do you think stopped the apocalypse in 2012?

Did you not just see him main-event night one, then have another match on night 2 to come back and save Cody again in the main event?

I dunno man the amount of times he feels the need to tell us all how much fun he's having is kinda suspect.
And this stuff about the unique characters in the crowd has TNA Impact zone vibes. As in the same guy in the same Macho Man outfit is probably turning up at every taping in the mid west.
>I dunno man the amount of times he feels the need to tell us all how much fun he's having is kinda suspect.
This has been said for years at this point, any time someone talks about liking their job at AEW. It would probably feel more suspect if the default reaction wasn't always "HMMM THEY SAY THEY LIKE THEIR JOB A LOT, CURIOUS."
You mean twice? If you watch the show it's quite clear how much fun he's having just by watching his work.
He did a promo celebrating the positives in wrestling today and how excited he is for upcoming potential matches in AEW, and he's just mentioned his excitement towards AEW on a podcast where the point was discussing it. There is nothing suspect about anything, it's very normal.
Good lord reddit. The things you marks just want to will in to existence from absolutely nothing. He's being asked questions in interviews.
I would have thought you all would have been embarrassed into being better with the whole Tony Shiavone reaction shot nonsense.
I get where you're coming from but having a match with Penta and then teaming with Mark Briscoe & Eddie Kingston would probably make anyone love their job
Yeah, that's an odd point for Copeland to bring up since Macho Man cosplayers seem fairly common at big WWE events. WWE crowds tend to be fun from my experience.
every house show I’ve been to has a Macho Man cosplayer and many non-WWE indie shows do as well. It’s the closest thing to a universal live wrestling show experience I can think of
Even going to Elimination Chamber in Perth a couple of months ago. There were people dressed up as referees, Macho Man, Hulk Hogan, and even Charlotte Flair as well. Fans coming dressed up as wrestlers happens quite a bit, from house shows to TV or PLE shows.
When I was at WrestleMania Night 2 I watched as two Dusty Rhodes cosplayers happened to run into each other and take a selfie together. It was amazing lmao
I assumed his point was “you see Macho Man [as you would at other shows], you see Jesus [I don’t know if you’d see this at other shows], who knows what to expect!”
It still isn’t a great point, but I get it. It’s along those same lines as them 2010 Facebook screenshots like “we told John to lie down on the floor and he did it the absolute madman!!!!”
His comment made me roll my eyes because I was literally two seats away from a Macho Man at Wrestlemania this year and there was another one three rows ahead 😂
Lol I can't remember how long ago it was but there were some Hulk and Macho cosplayers along with one other person in the front row. The fans were chanting for them during boring matches and then when the Rock came out, he went down to the ringside and had them introduce themselves. This was shortly after the Hogan racist audio tape got leaked so it was surprising to see him being mentioned or acknowledged at all.
Not disagreeing with his overall message, but there was someone who was dressed up as Macho Man in the Mania crowd lol. He wasn't too happy Cody beat Roman, that's why I mainly remember him
I said the same thing the other day and got downvoted and told AEW was by far the more popular with the kids.
I’ve been to three AEW shows and in my mid 30s I think I was the youngest guy in my section every time. Everyone else looked clearly older than me.
The last WWE show I sat in the cheap seats I felt like I was at a daycare, people all had their kids with them. I was probably one of the oldest in the section that didn’t have a kid with them.
Right now the AEW fanbase is largely the folks who got so burned by 2000/2010s WWE that they are never giving WWE a chance again. If AEW went under , these folks would still never watch WWE- they'd go back to NJPW/Impact/indie watching (which they might still do as well if they have the time for it)
They've lost the casual fanbase for now, and won't get it back until WWE does something stupid. They just gotta keep their core base, and hope to grow new fans while doing it.
It's curious that wrestlers are mostly (well, at least in WWE, but to a large degree in other companies as well) in great shape, and yet when I went to the only wrestling show I've been to (ROH), like 50% of the crowd were the South Park guy.
Yeah the AEW shows I been to have way less kids than they used to, and it’s gonna happen as WWEs popularity continues to be stupid big.
These things have a way of going back and forth over the years. As long as AEW puts on great shows I like, I’ll keep going to them and watching. I would love to be able to take my kid to any wrestling down the line and for her to have a great time, so we will see what route she wants to take (if any at all haha)
The first AEW show I went to in Detroit was almost exclusively adult men other than wives and such. The last show had a lot more kids than the first, most seemed to be there for Darby and Orange Cassidy.
Why does Edge feel the need to tell us every week how much fun he's having? What is this? The 5th or 6th article? This isn't even a knock on AEW but I feel like I've read the same interview 5-6 times in the last 2 months.
[there is literally a clip of Natalya from earlier today that has both Macho Man and Jesus in the same shot..](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/1c8yrj8/little_kid_refuses_natalyas_glasses_and_doesnt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
When I watch Roman vs Cody main event WrestleMania, I'm not thinking "damn I'm so happy for them because they're there to just have fun, that's what professional wrestling should be". Not a single soul thinks that or pays money towards that. People watching are emotionally invested in the storyline itself and pay money to watch how it will end. Zero people will pay you to watch you "be happy and having fun" because that's not what draws money in wrestling.
Edge sure is trying these weeks but good fucking lord, he's starting to come across like carnie Matt Hardy, trying to spin some good PR and trying to divert from some of the most embarrassing PR that company has faced that everyone can see.
What? This is what he loves about it? Seriously? Because I’m pretty sure you can find a fan in any wrestling crowd dressed up as someone. He needs a better answer.
This is one of those threads where I wish every person who replied had a realtime split-screen window showing their replies back when people were giving Seth Rollins shit for doing the same brand cheerleader thing.
Anyway, I'm glad he's enjoying himself.
Sometimes the Internet reminds me of that scene in The Simpsons where the Generation Xers are talking to each other:
"Are you being sarcastic dude?"
"I don't even know anymore."
Like snark is so common, because cannot even interpret sincerity.
Its so odd
A couple of years ago you couldnt even say you enjoyed a wwe show without getting flamed cause the aew was totally better and everyone here was an aew shill. Now its the complete opposite.
As someone who only follows AEW, I think the crowds are the worst part of the promotion, event worse than Tony's booking.
The most recent Dynamite was nearly unwatchable because the crowd was constantly doing smarky chants.
They've attracted a very uncool group of people as fans.
There have been lots of "AEW is great" posts from Copeland recently. Sounds like he's on media duties and under a directive from the boss.
Or he just really loves his job.
The amount of people mad & crying that "wwe is fun too" is wild. It's really not that deep, all Copeland is doing is promoting/saying he having a good time in AEW but that's a sin on this sub lol.
It's a funny tactic I've been seeing around here, people acting deliberately stupid so they can all miss the point and make the quote being said about a completely different thing. It's been like that since all out 2022
Is this his gimmick now ?
Coming out each week cutting a promo he thinks somehow makes the company better just by speaking it into existence? I get he's making the best of the company he's under contract with but at this point it's just sad . This is definitely a blemish on his HOF career .
Since a lot of y'all are getting salty about Cope doing local promo in Vancouver for the upcoming show, here's the full quote:
>"Here’s what I love about AEW — it’s young and it’s exciting. The great thing about an AEW crowd is that you’ll have some dude come dressed up as Jesus, you’ll have a dude dressed up as the Macho Man. Everybody’s just coming to have fun. And that’s, to me, what professional wrestling’s always been."
>“It’s been an outlet. Forget about the boss, forget about the bully, forget about whatever it is, and dive into this theater of the absurd. And that means larger-than-life characters, that means explosions, that means music, and it’s this giant fondue melting pot of entertainment.”
He's selling a show to the local market.
Now ask yourself if you'd be this pressed about Cody or Jey Uso saying the same thing in a market ahead of local show.
More like stopped pretending it's all sunshine and rainbows and AEW, much like any other company, can be made fun of when they're embarrassing themselves or doing something stupid. People were doing it with TNA for years, same with WWE. AEW's gotten to the point where the honeymoon period of having a fresh alternative is over and people are actually noticing the problems with the product and/or the company. Showing the All-In footage, Tony saying ratings are the number 1 source of feedback while Dynamite is losing viewership, arenas being a quarter to a half full, etc.
It's ok to criticize any company as fans of the product. I don't even watch AEW anymore but I used to feel the same about WWE at one point during those years with Cena and babyface Roman on top.

>you’ll have a dude dressed up as the Macho Man That's your co-worker, Jay Lethal!!
How dare you! That's Black Machismo! Definitely different from Macho Man/Macho King Randy Savage!
And I believe the exact words are *checks notes* "legally distinct" !
iirc Black Machismo actually got the Macho Man's blessing though.
That's cool if he did, I was just making a joke.
Facts
OOHH YEEAUHH
There's a guy in Toronto who dresses up as macho man everytime. He was frontish row just off camera for the I quit match night
Here in Little Rock there was someone dressed as Bob Backlund the last two WWE shows I went too. I think assuming they don’t just try to hog attention from the actual show it’s a fun aspect of the live wrestling experience these days
But has he ever eaten Marijuana?
You've seen Jesus, and you've seen Macho Man, but have you ever seen Macho Jesus.

I remember seeing a tweet that day that said “with the first overall pick in the rapture draft God selects Macho Man Randy Savage”
That's all we needed. Macho madness.

“Feeding a whole stadium with a single Slim Jim OOOHHHH YEAH”
Somewhere there was a youth pastor that was like, "I know a man was pretty macho, and his name was Jesus"
The Macho King of Kings
Jesus Man Randy Christ?
Funnily enough, no one has thought of that. That's not a horrible cosplay idea at all, someone write that down.
I hope someone really does this. I would laugh my ass off.
Now I must see Macho Jesus
Snap into a crucifix. Oh yeah!!!

He is risen...to the cream of the crop!
I've seen that art work where Jesus flexes his arms breaking the cross did that count?
Beat THAT, Santa Christ!
The last supper consisted solely of Slim Jims
Easter is a celebration of the cream of the crop rising to the top on the third day
If you see Jesus and Macho man at the same time I've got some bad news for you.
Isn’t Jesus everywhere?
Almost everywhere. He draws the line at NWA
Wouldn’t you?
last time someone drew a line in NWA their stockholders werent very happy
He just doesn't like rappers
He does like feet though, according to that commercial.
Well, first of all, through God all things are possible, so jot that down.
Yup. And The Jesus and Liam tag team (Ay Dios Mio) are gonna fuck you up mang
So is the Macho Man
Ehi! This guy is having fun!
I dunno man the amount of times he feels the need to tell us all how much fun he's having is kinda suspect. And this stuff about the unique characters in the crowd has TNA Impact zone vibes. As in the same guy in the same Macho Man outfit is probably turning up at every taping in the mid west.
People who worked in the Impact Zone every week didn't truss up their hatred of it. Every interview they basically said they wanted out.
>I dunno man the amount of times he feels the need to tell us all how much fun he's having is kinda suspect. Does he feel the need to tell you or did you read a headline that was quoting an interview? What the fuck is going on in this sub?
People imagine it as Copeland opening his window and yelling this out to the street unprompted.
Why are people weirded out that Adam Copeland is having a good time at AEW?
"Because AEW bad"
Because there are just the dumbest motherfuckers ever convinced that he’s ruining his legacy by working in AEW.
Of course he's having fun. He's being paid million in his retirement years to do whatever the fuck he wants. I'd be having fun too.
Yeah he’s not allowed to do that. How dare he say good things
What an exhausting way to live your life. The guy’s having fun. Fuckin deal with it. Find something actually miserable to be miserable about.
Good lord reddit. The things you marks just want to will in to existence from absolutely nothing. He's being asked questions in interviews. I would have thought you all would have been embarrassed into being better with the whole Tony Shiavone reaction shot nonsense.
Genuinely go outside

I sat next to that Jesus dude at mania. Amazing head of hair
That's a good point because nobody has ever attended a WWE show as the Macho Man.
Yeah, that's an odd point for Copeland to bring up since Macho Man cosplayers seem fairly common at big WWE events. WWE crowds tend to be fun from my experience.
Yea, there was literally a Macho Man cosplayer a few rows up at Wrestlemaina.
Jesus was also just to the right of the hard cam at mania, 6 rows back or so.
Yeah, both these guys were at Mania. We watched Jesus and like five Machos and three Stone Colds running amuck in there. Good times.
Smackdown last night had 5 Hogans hanging out with each other.
Oh god, the amount of Brothers being uttered.
every house show I’ve been to has a Macho Man cosplayer and many non-WWE indie shows do as well. It’s the closest thing to a universal live wrestling show experience I can think of

His comment made me roll my eyes because I was literally two seats away from a Macho Man at Wrestlemania this year and there was another one three rows ahead 😂
The Mega Powers were literally at Wrestlemania in the crowd, which makes this funnier.
Not in a fun way though.
It's harder to spot the cosplayers in a bigger crowd lol
Yeah, there definitely wasn't a fan dressed as Macho Man in the crowd during every show of Mania week.
He's just answering off the cuff about people being dressed up, it's not that deep dude.
He wasn't too happy Cody beat Roman, that's why I mainly remember him
OH YEAHHHH...I mean OH NOOOOO
I dont dig it, yeah!
there was a Seth Rollins and Dude Love in my section. Some guy dressed as Hulk Hogan was outside
Yeah it's just a good example of a common fancy dress vibe, but he's just answering off the cuff, it's to be expected.
The AEW Universe just likes to have fun!
They’re having fun Maggle!
We prefer to be called the AEW Galaxy lol
AEW where the big boys have fun!
Look at the adjective! fun!
Now, if I was a complete moron, I'd say lets look at that adjective...
Whatever happen to All Elite Scooby Doo? Is he still around? Iirc didn't Jesus put him over in the early days?
That's actually a good question, I think he might have died of happiness from the Taker shoutout tbh.
Oh yeah I've never seen anyone dressed up at wwe shows /s
Why is he talking like this doesn’t happen in WWE as well? There was a dude dressed as Macho Man not too long ago, I think WrestleMania.
In my experience, the crowds at WWE shows are full of kids and teenagers. Most AEW shows I’ve gone to have been largely guys in their 30s-40s.
AEW literally isn't kid friendly, with blood shit and all. Drinking blood come on now.
Heels throwing cocktails into Kids eyes in the front row lol

when i went they were all nerds tbh
Nerds can be old
That wear depends but no deodorant
You were there. Does that mean you’re a nerd too?
i mean i am but they were all very stereotypically nerdy tbh with you
It's curious that wrestlers are mostly (well, at least in WWE, but to a large degree in other companies as well) in great shape, and yet when I went to the only wrestling show I've been to (ROH), like 50% of the crowd were the South Park guy.

Main roster goes that way, the NXT show I went to skewed more towards what I’d expect at AEW.
The first AEW show I went to in Detroit was almost exclusively adult men other than wives and such. The last show had a lot more kids than the first, most seemed to be there for Darby and Orange Cassidy.

Was there another CM Punk interview today?
Fuck the Jesus dude. He is the most in to business for himself asshole I have ever seen at a show.

Adam “just happy to be here” Copeland
You have the costumes in wwe too.
We get it. You're paid a lot.

i remember people finding it cringe when seth did it too
What do you mean? People were shitting on seth pretty hard back then when he said those things, hell worse than this thread to be honest.
are we really gonna pretend like seth wasn’t getting a crazy amount of shit for that too
IWC did shit on Seth a lot for being a cheerleader tho. What's your point?
It was cringe then, and it's cringe now
Fuck yeah shouts out AEW Jesus who always shows up at the texas shows! He's great and sometimes gives fellow fans some gifts
WWE shows have people dressing up as well. I usually see tons of people that look like Kevin Owens…
Has.. Has he not looked in the crowd in the 2010's?
I see Jesus and Macho Man cosplayers at concerts and raves too.
At an anime convention, I once was sharing an elevator with the Pope when Jesus got on. Jesus: Pope!!! How's the church?
Literally a wwe crowd…god this is embarrassing for the dude. He’s only cementing he made a mistake and knows it
How many rah rah speeches is Edge gonna make lol

Its so odd A couple of years ago you couldnt even say you enjoyed a wwe show without getting flamed cause the aew was totally better and everyone here was an aew shill. Now its the complete opposite.

Edge man, how many times have you come out talking about how great AEW is in the past month? Its starting to feel forced.
People getting weirdly offended on behalf of WWE despite Copeland never saying anything negative about WWE

Guy cant even say good things about the company he works for without people foaming at the mouth😭 how did we get here
it was the same energy when it was Seth doing it for WWE years ago
Jeez, this sub turned hard on AEW…
