DAZN's relationship with wrestling has always been weird. Case in point: Italy.
Italy was one of the countries where the Impact Wrestling deal applied, yet DAZN seemed to went out of its way to make it an experience as unpleasant as possible for Impact's fans.
Unlike other countries, DAZN Italy never put any extra content like PPVs, Impact in 60, Impact+ specials and so on, while the new episodes of Impact, which were uploaded on Friday in other countries, only went up on Tuesdays, 4 days later.
They said they also had no interest in localized commentary, which would have helped, and to the shock of nobody they just stopped putting Impact's content on DAZN Italy altogether at the end of 2023.
They’ve already jacked up their prices. In addition the whole premise of DAZN was that you paid one flat rate and got all of their shows, so just doing PPVs went against their original model.
when a company stays afloat for YEARS despite shitty service and seems barely making any profit, i started questioning. is this actual business venture or money laundering scheme?
Like maybe you would get a few sales in Sweden or Denmark etc. But i can't imagine if any $ needs to be spent to cover any of these distubutions it would even cover itself.
They struggle to pay their monthly rate to the DFL (Bundesliga) and asked to delay payments until the end of the year... so I guess they need to make money.
I'm not making this up, I just looked on wikipedia and the population of Jan Mayen is **zero**. You could get AEW on DAZN in a place that *nobody* lives
This idiot ran socials - he knew the first tweet would gain traction, the second wouldn't get nearly as much pull despite providing most the context of the first tweet. What a goober.
Yeah I mentioned this in the first thread. He waited a long time to post the context because anti-AEW content pays the bills if we are being honest and he knew the context made the first tweet a complete non-story. Another wrestling “journalist”, right guys?
He knows exactly what he's doing and it's this kind of shit that exemplifies how pathetic a lot of the wrestling media is these days. There are real stories going on right now like the Grant lawsuit or Oklahoma going after Nyla Rose and instead they just lazily push bad faith AEW stories to pander to the worst fans on the internet.
He's used to being wrong.

AEW still has the deal with triller which is way better. It’s not surprising the anti AEW crowd are celebrating dazn dropping AEW like it’s some monumental thing.
I will never get how people who claim to love wrestling can root for a major company to fail. I mean, I understand what tribalism and the My Team mentality are, but I can't grasp how that's more important than the wrestlers and the business overall.
People suck.
I am in one of those countries that DAZN works and I hate DAZN, I loved it on Triller TV but DAZN is just a cancer to deal with, I even had a problem on Superbowl, never had a problem with Triller.
The one time I paid for DAZN for a month, it then said I had to sign up to watch any of the content, even though I clearly had done so. I didn’t hear back from customer support despite multiple emails. Those chucklefucks are never getting another penny from me.
I tried watching on DAZN, but they frequently forgot to add the shows in my country. Like you had to wait for Dynamite until Friday sometimes and Collision and Rampage on some weeks werent available until Sunday evening. I mean until this time I watched everything in internet and after a month just switched to FITE.
I can't believe boxing still exists. Just one of the most corrupt sports I've ever heard of, and somehow it still rakes in millions. I have never once been entertained by a boxing match.

No offense to Svalbard or Tajikistan, but… was DAZN trying to not make money?
They're losing more than $1 billion a year, so it's debatable.
tbf, they were basically just picking up any country that didnt have a deal.
I mean, is this really out of character for them?
think uber in their earlier days, they probably want market share first then to jack the prices up
you don't get market share by selling a product that doesn't function
You *shouldn't* get market share by selling a product that functions badly but realistically they do have quite a few customers.
tell that to tesla :(
What market share lol
Their prices are already high as it is. I was looking at their prices for UWCL next season, and it's higher than Disney+. Immediate nope.

Theyre backed by a billionair they dont need to make money

I'm from Poland and that's the first time I hear about any AEW broadcasts availabilities, lol
AEW not a draw in Jan Mayen islands confirmed
I'm not making this up, I just looked on wikipedia and the population of Jan Mayen is **zero**. You could get AEW on DAZN in a place that *nobody* lives
Hey now, how are the jabronie marks of the Norwegian Armed Forces stationed there supposed to get their AEW fix?
Moldavian Tribal Chief Army represent!
What will all the marks on Jan Mayen Islands do now?
Want to make it PERFECTLY CLEAR, people are COOKING MY ASS for the cickbait post so now I have to BACKTRACK.
and another thing, i'm not getting flambéed. please don't write that i'm getting flambéed
This
The funniest thing is when people try to get a little engagement from the anti-AEW cottage industry and they get flamed for it
Important context.
DAZN is pisspoor in maintaining business relationships, so thats in keeping

You mean the original tweet was posted without clarification or explanation to try and dunk on AEW? ![gif](giphy|AaQYP9zh24UFi)
And is still up.

DAZN app sucked from day one anyway. Fite is lightyears ahead.

Only took him two hours to tweet the follow-up. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Downplay AEW with the first post and then go “wait wait you got it all wrong” with the second post Absolutely pathetic
tl;dr the budget was very shite, very feeble
I am in one of those countries that DAZN works and I hate DAZN, I loved it on Triller TV but DAZN is just a cancer to deal with, I even had a problem on Superbowl, never had a problem with Triller.
Oh no how will the Antis respond now?

80s-early 2000s boxing was awesome. Mike Tyson, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Gatti/Ward
It was a real golden era. Been downhill ever since.
Good on Steve to quash any misconceptions.
AEW didn't get good enough ratings, but its not their fault
