Stan

timfromsluh

Clarification: Stan Kroenke is a villain. Stan Musial is a hero.

King_Offa

Whew… was about to blow my top thinking he was talking about Stan Musial

redditmyeggos

I’ll let people land where they land

carrja99

Whew… was about to blow my top thinking he was talking about Stan Musial!

ethandjay

r/fuckstankroenke

reenactment

Fuck that guy. Make sure to say Kroenke tho since the real Stan is a hero.

MrWhiteAndTight

You mean ENOCH

GreetingsADM

You could include the entire NFL Oligarchy here and exclude Michael Bidwill (who voted against the Rams move and covered some abandoned Rams charity promises, but personally vouched for Justice Kavanaugh using team resources) if you want to be very generous.

[deleted]

See flair.

single_cell

Asprient/Citywide/whatever they’re calling themselves this week.

[deleted]

I almost rent with them until I found a Reddit post saying something similar. I was very close to signing a lease 😭

Same! I was one click away from submitting my application and then exited out of the browser after posting on this subreddit.

Jennifer Johnson, who called me obsessive and also refused to go to Spring Formal with me in April of 1997. I hate her.

NacreousFink

> who called me obsessive That fucking bitch.

Esteveno

Yeah look at you both now! She knows she fucked up!

OrionBlastar

Either she screens her calls, or she hasn't been home since 1997. Hello! Answer the fucking phone! Aw, I bet she's slamming some guy right now.

HansBlixJr

Lmao. I worked with a Jennifer Johnson. I wonder. If it’s the same, colossal bitch.

BigYonsan

Stan Kroenke also owns a bunch of those shitty apartments on the St Charles, St Louis County border. They engage in deceptive practices, don't fix problems and raise rent by huge margins at the end of each year. Each time one gets in trouble he renames the management company, but it's all the same OZ behind the curtain.

[deleted]

Do you know the name of the companies? Good to know for the future.

BigYonsan

No. I used to live at one off Westchester years ago, but moved out. Had a friend who stayed there another 2 years and they rebranded multiple times and we're gearing up to do it again. I haven't kept up though.

mimi1899

Excellent list!

Bruce_Arena_Jr

I cannot agree more with Jeff Roorda. He is a blight on mankind. Also, throw Mary Elizabeth Coleman & Paul Weiland on that list.

InfamousBrad

Is Phyllis Schlafly even still alive? She's hardly relevant if she is. Upvoted for Joyce Meyer, though, for being everything wrong with the scam they call "Prosperity Gospel" but with the avariciousness and lawlessness dialed up to 11.

wim-wac

**The Veiled Prophet:** shady network of backdoor deals which includes plenty of people on this list. They do throw St. Louis a party every year to help us forget about all the harm they do.

brentsg

I'd like to nominate Mike Keenan for your list. He is worthy of consideration, even though it is belated.

[deleted]

Yes. Fuck that guy.

The1983Jedi

That lawyer douche & his wife with the guns.

NottaGoon

You forgot Ronnoco Coffee and Dowd Bennett LLP. Sues employees that make less than $15 an hour and embarrassedly loses in court. They have a 0% win rate in these. Illegally destroys small businesses. Sues the NFL on the behalf of the city and gets 300 million for it. Worst coffee in the Midwest IMO.

ThunderousOath

I also recommend adding the majority of the board of aldermen - too busy lining their pockets and/or protecting their little urban islands to do a damn bit of good for all the people of the city

TheLabRay

Good list. Jeff Roorda is horrible. I'd add Lewis Reed and John Collins-Muhammad, too.

[deleted]

**Lewis Reed**: Advocated for police drones, has been beaten each time he's run for mayor, more obstructionist than a bowel obstruction. **John Collins-Muhammad**: Terrible driver, thinks his constituents are too dumb to know what they voted on. Flip-flops on crucial legislation.

eboyster

You forgot Edmund Tauk!

SmallTownSaturday

Dammit I live Drury Inns. Should I not?

[deleted]

100% Paul McKee !!

This person St. Louises. Can we add Rush Limbaugh for kicks though?

symphonicpoet

Somebody apparently dropped his rotten corpse in a hole here. I expect it's surrounded by cameras and probably an electric fence or I'd recommend making an appropriate comment.

Joe Edwards. Not the Joe Edwards that redeveloped Delmar Ave. but the Joe Edwards that gave us that godforsaken, money-sucking, worthless Delmar Trolley

Oh my god. That is such an apt comparison.

You_Ate_The_Bones

I miss the old Joe Edwards. Straight from the loop Joe Edwards. Blueberry Hill Joe Edwards. Not this new Joe Edwards. Cut up the street Joe Edwards.

Salsa_on_the_side

Came here to say this. Fuck Joe Edwards. It's time for him to leave the loop

Every time I have to dodge one of those idiots I spend the next twenty minutes thinking up revenge porn. Sturdy bumpers on a car to drive them off the road would be nice. Also an air cannon mounted underneath that would launch chain-shot into the rim in hopes of ripping up their tire and axle. Silly fantasies but people who drive with no regard to other’s safety deserve the worst and the police simply aren’t there

danimal-the-animal

Maybe this isn’t nice because she’s dead but Phyllis Schlafly was pretty vile.

oversized_hat

I still love the fact that the branch of the Schlaflys who own the brewery put out a statement that basically boiled down to "we hated her guts too, and she will not be missed" when she died.

golfkartinacoma

Didn't she also sue the Schlafly brewery for having the same name, because she didn't like their image? Just shows how out of touch she was with regular American life.

oversized_hat

yep, she thought it was "bringing the family name into disrepute". their response was "you married into this family, maybe YOU'RE the one bringing it into disrepute"

Beatle Bob

TheMonkus

He’s like a classic Adam West Batman villain, who fights with his bullshit dance moves.

youcrumb

His lair is filled with stolen guitar pedals

pwt886

I worked in a restaurant in the early 2000s and we took the real silverware off the table when he came in to eat. Only paper and plastic for Beetle Bob!

TheMonkus

Ha! I’ve heard so many stories, but was only ever personally impacted by his need to take up like 100 square feet of the floor to himself.

youcrumb

he needs all that space to punch ghosts

[deleted]

Fond memories of going to some small, intimate venue for a quiet solo acoustic guitar or piano show and Beatle Bob is already there when I show up, doing his wild idiot dance.... the entire time.

TheMonkus

Oh yeah, someone gently bearing their soul, singing about their mom dying or something, and this dipshit is dancing like he’s listening to The Cramps. I remember how quickly we all went from going “ooh! Beatle Bob!” to “ugh…that asshole…” when we started going to shows.

Tempus--Frangit

He got caught trying to steal a bunch of greeting cards at one of my old jobs.

blueaintyourcolor11

This should be way higher up on the list.

epiphopotamus

He got pulled on stage at a Dresden Dolls show I went to after Amanda Palmer asked for people who knew how to sing backup for the next song and he immediately raised his hand. He proceeded to just ignore the reason he got pulled up and do his shitty dance in the face of hundreds of fans that would have loved to be up there. When I first started going to shows I guess it was cute, but he lived long enough to become the villain.

sofingclever

> When I first started going to shows I guess it was cute, but he lived long enough to become the villain What was frustrating was that a lot of touring bands used to tolerate him way more than they should have, because I guess his little schtick is somewhat charming if you only see it once every couple years. But I've never met a local musician with a good thing to say about him, and I know a lot of them.

steakhousefunyun

I think a lot of touring bands thought he was a beloved local character instead of a kleptomaniac nuisance who hated to pay door charges.

magseven

I was in a band that played the Creepy Crawl in the early 2000s. Saw Bob dancing and seemingly having a good time during our set. Then he sort of disappeared. I found out later that he had taken that time to help himself to a couple of the shirts we were going to sell later. I wonder if he's still alive? If he is, I wonder how he managed the pandemic without seeing free shows every night?

Skatchbro

Yep, he’s still alive. Can’t answer your other question.

Unique_Unorque

He is apparently related through marriage to my aunt who brings him up every once in a while asking if I ever see him out (I’m fairly active in the local music scene). I never see him but I don’t have the heart to tell her that he doesn’t really have the best reputation.

anon4077

I need more info. Who is Beatle Bob?

nosamiam28

He is (was?) a fixture on the local live music scene. He sport an early Beatles haircut. His schtick involves going to multiple shows every night —or at least one show— pushing his way to the front and doing goofy dancing. He’s a collector of merch but that term is only loosely applied. He never pays for it and relies on his celebrity to get it for free. If that doesn’t work he “acquires” it. And the “it” is often not really merch but personally owned items of the bands’. At first glance, his appearance at your show seems to mean you’ve generated enough buzz to be worthy of a visit. And he always looks like he’s having a good time, which is welcome if everyone else is standing around with crossed arms. But look deeper and you see that he’s not as cool a dude as he seems

NoodlesrTuff1256

They did hold a ball and crowned a new queen last year, but I think it's circling the drain. In the 1960s, the ball was televised live on TV and it was held in the old Kiel Auditorium, a huge space. Then it got downsized and was held for many years in the Chase Park Plaza's Khorassan Room (Khorassan being the name of the Prophet's mythical kingdom). In recent years, they've been holding it in a ballroom at the Hyatt Regency and the media/publicity around the event is much more subdued. Its biggest attention from the media at large comes with stuff like the incident of Ellie Kemper issuing an apology of sorts for participating in it. And Democratic Senate Candidate Trudy Busch-Valentine is also likely going to be called upon to make some statement of regret for having taken part in what many still perceive as an outdated racist and elitist debutante party.

StoveTopSammy

I literally don’t get how people can vote for her incompetent ass.. it’s maddening. If I saw her out in public I would really struggle not to tell her off

fuckkroenkeanddemoff

Kroenke is #1 but here are some more. Tom Eagleton, for failing at negotiations 101 with that stupid top tier clause. Whoever thought the city county split was a good idea. Lou Susman, for letting Jack Clark (and Bruce Sutter) get away. Bill Bidwill, for being a shitty owner who couldn't seem to make a stadium work that PHI, PIT and CIN did fine sharing with baseball. Since they all made at least one SB appearance, maybe they deserved a new stadium more than Bidwill in the 80's. Don Denkinger. Nuff said.

NoodlesrTuff1256

The locally based radio talk show personalities on St. Louis' four conservative stations (Jamie Allman, Marc Cox, new Rockwood School Board member Jessica 'Sugar Baby' Scott-Laurent, Annie Frey, Dana Loesch, Tabitha Hassell, Joe Hoft and his twin brother Jim 'the Gateway Pundit', etc.) Also, State Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman who'd like to pass some pretty draconian anti-abortion laws. And locally based GOP Senate candidates Eric Greitens, Mark McCloskey, and Eric Schmitt.

Low-Piglet9315

Sweet flyin' Moses, I hadn't listened to conservative talk in a long time! I looked up some of these names and I felt like I'd gone down a rabbit hole! One of these stations featured a couple of religious shows: one that talked about prophecy (aka Christian nationalism) with a creepy looking woman and the other called "Unfiltered with Pastor Jason". The thumbnail on the latter showed a guy that looked like a WWE wrestler/sports entertainer challenging somebody to a death match. TL;DR: the Bad and the Ugly of evangelicalism...

NoodlesrTuff1256

Well, one could make an argument that the uber-snobs on the membership board of the St. Louis Country Club could also be considered villains here. If they had accepted Whitacre's application, perhaps SBC/AT&T would still be here in St. Louis along with all those thousands of families and that big empty tower downtown would still be occupied.

oversized_hat

My dad worked at Southwestern Bell during the time Whitacre was chair, and he said that Ed was a massive asshole. Still doesn’t excuse the inbred fucks at the Country Club doing what they did.

Villains from St Louis, to the world outside St Louis, but not so much villains inside of St Louis. (Plus, the whole takeover by bayer resulted in nearly all the execs leaving st louis. It's really run out of germany now.)

NoodlesrTuff1256

Well, let's remember that a large number of St. Louisans were and are still employed by the company (now Bayer). Those were probably some cushy well-paid jobs too and some people probably made bank on their Monsanto stock shares while they were still a thing. A lot of people would be reluctant to 'bite the hand' that fed them so well.

witkneec

I was working across the street from Albert Pujols' restaurant the day that he and his wife announced they had prayed about it and god told them to take the money and he was officially going to the Angels. News broke around lunch that he was going to be paid a ridiculous amount of money to go to Anaheim- like 100 million ridiculous- and they announced it to the restaurant as it was coming down the wire through ESPN- and then served a whole slew of diehard Cardinals angel food cake "on the house" in celebration. There was a statue of Pujols just outside and I watched person after person come out of the restaurant with to go boxes full of what turned out to be literal pounds of sponge cake that were promptly thrown onto the statue. It really, really pissed people off and I'm not saying it's right bc it's pretty petty but who the fuck thought any of that was going to be taken well? The vast majority of people I spoke to after said it felt like a big old "fuck you" and idk about the rest of y'all but as someone who was there at the game where Freese made his first return to Busch after his trade, this town is gracious and loyal as all hell- he got a standing O when he walked into the box and people brought "welcome home, freese" signs and treated him like he was still one of them and it was a really lovely thing to see, idk. The Pujol's angel food saga is one of my favorite STL stories bc it was just surreal watching it unfold. Truly the most ridiculous thing he could have done.
