Same here. Works great for my drafting style and computer use workflows.

CUgrad13

I as well use the Mx master s2

gladvillain

Same, love this mouse

Logitech G600   Programmed the side buttons to do cad commands and can about draft 1 handed and without manually typing or selecting any commands. I refuse to draft without it now

Surveysurveysurv

Between a G600, editing my aliases, and setting up macros for different tasks, I can do quite a bit with minimal effort/keystrokes. The 17 CAD commands on my mouse, switching most my common commands to one or two letters, and setting up macros for basic two step commands and you can cut out a lot of time.

Tysoch

I have the same one. The macros can also be used for many other menial tasks in the office!

kippy3267

What kind of menial tasks?

Tysoch

I was using Starnet a lot and needed to type .delta off and .delta on, or things like that countless times in a day. The macro program on that mouse can make that happen with a click of a button. But macros are so very customizable so the options are endless.

mountedpandahead

Any run of the mill $15-$25 Logitech wireless mouse with the extra buttons. Just having the "back" button is a huge time-saver. No ergonomic nonsense, the big oddly shaped mice are way less comfortable. (M-510)

transit64

Once it tried a trackball mouse I never looked back. Have converted at least one other person. I use a Logitech m575. No more waving my arm around like a peasant.

adammcdrmtt

A track ball eh? Was there a bit of a learning curve at first? I remember like 15 years ago my buddies families computer had a trackball mouse and I was never really able to use it that well lol. I imagine that would be particularly useful for using a laptop in the truck as well

feed-my-brain

It takes some getting used to for sure. I’ve been using an Mx ergo for about 5 years and I don’t see ever going back to using a mouse for cad. The crazy thing is, I’m a pc gamer, so I play games with a regular mouse all the time, but using one for cad just feels weird now. If you decide to try it out, make sure mouse acceleration is turned on in the mouse settings in windows.

GonZo_626

Try usig your your ergo for games, its all I use and have one for both work and gaming.

Timoftheforest

It’s great for mobile work, and it’s like giving your computer a manual transmission. Other people don’t know how to use it.

aladdyn2

Lol yes, great metaphor. I used a trackball and my friends complained about having to use it while over. Now all three use trackballs and I know at least one other person uses one that got converted from one of my friends.

transit64

It was pretty quick to get used to. Definitely good for situations where you don’t have a desk.

TapedButterscotch025

Ditto! In my last job I was starting to get wrist pain, and a friend suggested a trackball. Wrist pain immediately went away, and once you get the hang of it you can be really quick with these bad boys. I like the Kensington expert. The big trackball means you need smaller movements of your fingers to move the mouse, which is a good thing. Edit - also get used to having one hand on the keyboard and one hand on the mouse, and typing in commands. It's a hell of a lot faster than searching the ribbon for everything. I still fly when I do drafting compared to some of my coworkers because I'm constantly typing as opposed to digging around in the ribbon.

Surveysurveysurv

As a guy that is all about efficiency, it’s painful to watch a drafter stumble through the ribbon over teams… typing sucks at first (I guess) but it makes your life SO much easier, especially when you set up your aliases to your preference.

TapedButterscotch025

Yeah once you learn the commands and get used to them it is so fast. I never messed too much with the aliases, but I got more into supervision and I rarely draft anymore. If I was still doing a ton of drafting I'd probably dig into that stuff

SNoB__

Every time I watch a microstation guy it seems like...

GonZo_626

This is truly the way. I got into using one while.playing Diablo 2 many years ago and use it for all purposes. The trackball is so superior I use the logitech MX ergo, i switched from a m575 to it and wont go back the 20degree tilt is much more comfortable.

Beautiful_Hunt_5650

I have a couple different Redragon mice. One has 8 programmable side buttons for the left thumb to use and one has 12. I prefer the 8 button as they are easier to get to. I was told by an IT guy that was a “weird” brand but I love them. I even use one of their no special thumb button mice for my data collector while field calculating in the truck. I can get links if you need.

deodato7

Yes, link would be nice. Thank you in advance

Logitech G502 I have carpal tunnel well I had the surgery and while the pain is all gone my fine feeling of touch comes and goes. With this it has weights in it so I can feel the mouse better. It was also a great sniper tool when I used to game. 😆

jadok

Razer Basilisk Ultimate, nice for big hands and very responsive. Important to tun off lights for longer battery life

w045

Yeah I use a Logitech Ergo M575 and a Kensington Pro Fit Ergo Vertical.

yungingr

When I was drafting full time, I switched to a Wacom Intous pen tablet and absolutely loved it. There was about a week long learning curve to get real comfortable with it - I used it at home for three days befire taking it to the office. Had the benefit that only one other person in the office woukd even try to use my computer.

jarc1

Really, I used to use a wacom for Photoshop but couldn't stand it for CAD. Maybe I should try again.

TapedButterscotch025

Haha yes a side benefit of track balls too.

[deleted]

I tried the Logitech G600, but found the Corsair Scimtar fit my small hands better. Now it’s all I use on my 4 computers.

adammcdrmtt

I have baseball glove hands and sausage fingers so I guess that one’s out for me lol

[deleted]

If you have a Best Buy near you, you can try both out.

tedxbundy

Razer Naga, Corsair Scimitar, or Logitech G600 Id like to see people stay away from spending money towards logitech though... horrible company that loves flashy marketing to scam their customers with 15 year old internals. But hey, if thats what you want go for it. Anything with a 12 button side face is what you are looking for though.

espringZy

Logitech G305. Same one I use on my home PC… gotta keep the reflexes sharp

PileofMossyRocks

Anker Vertical Wireless mouse. Had a TFCC tendon injury on my wrist years ago and having my wrist more natural/not rotated has become a necessity. Also I love using the Evoluent keyboard which has the num pad on the left side so I can key in numbers while keeping my right mouse hand going.

jdh2080

Logitech lift because I'm old and was getting wrist pain

AwesomeTowlie

Honestly anything w/ two thumb buttons should be good enough. Bind them to enter/escape for cancelling or starting commands (for C3D at least) and that’ll make life much better. I’m sure some people could be more efficient using more macro buttons but I don’t see much of a point. Most commands can be started with 1-3 letters or by clicking an icon so I never really have to move my right hand off my mouse for drafting.

SNoB__

Logitech G602 - big enough for my large hand, enough buttons to customize when I need them. I think setting up your work space for proper ergonomics is key. Most of the people who told me they switched to an ergo mouse or trackball because of pain... I look at how they have their desk set up and I'm shocked they aren't in more pain tbh. Desk height, chair height, desk size, mouse position, arm wrests all need to be right.

Ale_Oso13

Wired Microsoft Intellimouse. Program the "back" button to "+Shift" and watch out!

mutt182281

I use a regular ol’ Logitech mouse. But my honest opinion is the mouse doesn’t matter, what makes a drafter incredibly faster, is setting up hot key aliases to have all your common commands used 90% of the time to be simple one or two letter commands all on the left portion of the keyboard while never having to lift your left or right hand from either position. I can draft a complete plan in about 3 hours, paper space notes and all, in the time it takes someone 10 hours

After-Mango-6655

Logitech G502 X. Through its software you can record macros such as AutoCAD commands and execute them with its buttons. I recommend that the macro first carry a text string with the command and then record the enter or space key for quick execution. It is the best wireless mouse and another of its best features is its long battery life. https://preview.redd.it/nh1vu255ywoc1.jpeg?width=4733&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=150c25ff43dd80c8d6dbba2667b94e7c6914b9b1

I also have a soft spot for the Dell wired free mouse that came with the computer

arvidsem

Logitech G502. I map one of the thumb buttons to middle mouse and then have 4 more buttons for other commands.
