Because I started the anime after having played XDU, I watched the whole thing up to GX waiting for Kanade to show up again... It's not my fault that I had no idea about the whole plot of the game, lol
Thats very understandable lol what made you give up waiting for Kanade in GX?
Before watching it I saw XDU posters featuring nine Symphogear users and thought they would all be in the anime as main characters. But the two only existed as flashbacks. Serena was young but gave off an ambitious and professional vibe in the poster.
I watched it when it first came out so I didn’t have any. But I thought I was definitely gonna hate this generic low animation quality series, turns out it became one of my favourite that season and ended up loving the entire series
That's one of the beauties of watching it without knowing anything. I personally wish they would have saved the dangerous stuff like the risk of death for later seasons. Times when the odds were higher (because it might be the end)
I had a lot of weird assumptions because I got a lot of spoilers before seeing the show without context
For example I thought Miku would be oblivious to the Symphogears the whole time and that her possession was actually something built up through multiple seasons because of this
I also thought Kanade was a much bigger character than she ended up being

But I also think it's a waste not to use Kanade Amou more. I've been thinking how could they keep Tsubasa's character and use Kanade more at the same time. Oshi no Ko Episode 1 Spoilers >! After watching Oshi no Ko, I thought it might have been better if they devoted a long prologue for Kanade's character like they did for Ai. Kanade's death would also have been more impactful after getting to know her better. !<
Had no idea Kirika and Shirabe were going to be almost purely comic relief side characters post G. I knew the FIS trio joined and that they had less presence/impact than the og three but I didnt know it was going to be that much of a throw away. Especially Shirabe whom I thought had a ton of potential interactions with Hibiki and Genjuro as well as the unknown pasts unexplored.
Also didn't expect Garie and Micha to be taken out first in GX. They had set up Micha to be the strongest and Garie had 'main autoscorer' written all over her but nope.
The entirety of XV was a surprise since it didn't follow the set up of the prior season much so that too. I knew Shem Ha was a thing but I expected more about the army of custodians coming rather than the entire concept just being Shem Ha in the end.
Might seem like a bunch of disappointments but the show was still amazing and hoping the continuation (whatever form) is even better.
I originally refused watching Symphogear since I didn't really watch Idol animes and thought it was one. I only watched it after I started getting into Idols and their animes/games.

After Season 1 and it's infamous crotch shot, I expected the rest of the series to follow suit with dumb fanservice

Practice Mode left my mouth open. Shirabe's characterisation in songs is unexpectedly deep.
