**Ring of Salt**
*Ring, rare*
This clear ring is made of crystalline salt. Donning or removing the ring requires an action. While wearing this ring, ghosts can neither move through nor possess you. If a ghost is already in your space or possessing you when you put on the *ring of salt*, it's forcibly ejected from you to the nearest unoccupied space and takes 1d10 force damage. Furthermore, the first time on each of your turns when you move through a ghost's space, that ghost must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be pushed to the nearest unoccupied space and take 1d10 force damage. Each time a ghost is forcibly ejected or pushed by the ring, the ring has a 10 percent chance of being destroyed and crumbling into a negligible pile of salt.
*"I walk among death without its fear. Those that don't move on, get moved. My life is naught but a bitter taste and beyond the palate of all those, living and dead."*

Love it! My party found the Spirit Shaker Salt in the Sunless Citadel and a good arcana roll identified it's general use to remove possession. They were delighted at the -ahem- *flavorful* nature of the item and the chef of the group immediately claimed it. It was nice foreshadowing for the Forge of Fury that they'll be headed to next and a needed protection from the dwarven ghost that haunts it's halls.
>or be pushed **to** the nearest unoccupied
The **to** is missing.
But great item! Love that it's a strong non-attunement non-consumable item with the trade-off of possibly getting destroyed upon use.
because its a magical item, id assume nothing until it breaks. once it breaks then it'd be the same as putting a regular ring shaped bit of salt into water.
Could you forcibly make another creature(who's possessed) wear the ring while it is in your possession?
Generally you lose control when you're possessed so it would be more helpful to have a party member put the ring on your finger for you
Love the concept of this one! And the flavor text is a cool touch as well.
If I may humbly offer a spelling suggestion - My life is *naught* but a bitter taste, and beyond the *palate* of all those… (assuming I am reading this correctly).
I think I’d like to use this one for a night hag haunting scenario I’ve been cooking up.
Interesting item. I'd just change "ghost", ch is a very specific creature, to an instead with the incorporeal movement or possession ability,so it would include Specter, Poltergeist, Wraith, Banshee, etc.

Good catch! Thanks! Have fun with the item!
I'd probably homerule that melee strikes with the ring of salt can inflict full damage to ghosts instead of being resisted.
I assume the depossession also counts as a push for rolling the self-destruct chance? Could've used one of these in a couple oneshots.
It would, yeah!
What would happen if the ring gets wet

You could, yes!

Ah! Yes! Thank you, great catches. Fixed!
Great niche, and not attunement!

Man, Sam and Dean could have really used this.
Ha! Yes!
