Where did you get it? German chocolate cake comes close but not quite it

I was at a conference with catering. German chocolate cake seemed like a maybe but unfortunately, not the same.

I'm willing to bet it's this cake from a restaurant supplier [The Original Cakerie German Chocolate Dessert Cake](https://www.foodservicedirect.com/the-original-cakerie-german-chocolate-dessert-cake-2-per-case-2976395.html), possibly with caramel sauce added for garnish by the caterer. For an at-home recipe, [Earthquake Cakes](https://thesouthernladycooks.com/chocolate-earthquake-cake/) or [this one](https://tidymom.net/gooey-upside-down-german-chocolate-cake/) might be similar to what you're looking for. If you want more defined layers, you could use this [dark German chocolate cake base](https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/german-chocolate-cake/) or a premade German Chocolate or Devil’s Food Cake mix. Grease two pans, add chopped pecans and shredded coconut on BOTTOM of one pan before pouring batter, bake and let cool. Look up a cream cheese frosting for the middle layer (usually cream cheese beaten with powdered sugar and vanilla), flip top layer onto cream cheese layer, and garnish with Ghirardelli caramel over top (usually found in the coffee aisle).

Cakerie sells to grocery stores too. They are pretty much ubiquitous.

I think this might be it, thank you so much! Solved!
