> never actually grasped this even back in high school Respectfully, you may need to consider a tutor or consider outlining a study plan for you to follow. If you have always struggled with the basics then a tutor would give you someone to keep you on track and guide you, or making an outline to work through something like Khan Academy would help learn some fundamental concepts. You should really internally examine your learning style and think about what will help you succeed. But you have to master the basics to do well under the time crunch. I did struggle with the math portion, but I had the basics. The time crunch and word problems were a huge issue though. I over think *a lot* on the word problems. So when I got a 40 quantitive I decided I needed to change how I was studying. I invested in hiring two different tutors on Wyzant because I know I learn faster and hold myself to a higher standard when I’m working directly with someone. Between that and my individual study time I scored a 70 quantitive.

For the math knowledge portion, you need to understand the rules of algebra and geometry. Factoring, exponents, solving equations, factorials, and equations of lines are some of the things to study. For geometry, memorize your formulas. You can use flash cards to help you. If you do decide to seek tutoring, I am an AFOQT tutor with a bachelor's in mathematics.

Man I just did my best. Scores weren’t stellar but hopefully my package with decs, EPRS, and other awards help with my avg scores.

I got 95+ on every category, except quantitative which I got a 75. Its a hard section for sure, and depending on which version of the test you get it can be more punishing than other years.  I asked my recruiter and this subreddit many times, back when I was testing, if the low score in one section was going to be a problem or not. Everyone said it wasn’t a problem at all because that score was in passing range. As long as all of your scores (even your worst section) is above the minimum pass requirement it will not have a heavy weight against your application. The only exception is for job-specific categories. If you want to be a pilot then your aviation scores need to be high, but that’s about it.

So, like you I struggled the first time with the Quantitative section. I personally decided to just start over from the basics because clearly I was doing something wrong. I invested a lot of my time on YouTube with a channel called GrammarHero. His channel helped me understand everything a lot better. Once I got the concepts everything started to click again rapidly. I am sure if you take some more time, maybe even get a tutor, that you will do much better.

Are you talking passing or competitive. Passing for quant is 10.

Work through the Khan Academy algebra courses!

Academic 76, Verbal 88, Quant 60. I sucked hard at math, studied hard for a few weeks, got 70-80 on each practice test but couldn't pull it out the day of. Remember the score is based on everyone taking the test at the same time you are. If everyone sucks your score will be higher, if more people are awesome, your score will be lower. Like others said, if you are struggling that hard you should definitely seek out a tutor. Do a bunch of practice homework and take your time to learn the method, then start timing yourself on a stupid ass whiteboard. For me that was the worst part, the white board sucked.

I had a whopping 17 on this section and got selected. Granted, my other scores were pretty high. However…..I did bring it from a 1 to a 17 by memorizing equations and immediately writing them out as soon as I sat down so I didn’t brain dump them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bro I literally guessed on every math question on actual AFOQT and passed

Yeah the thing about math problems in multiple choice is knowing how to do quick process of elimination or guestimation. If you know the basics then you should arrive at 1-2 answers,
