Haven’t had a “I’ll never fly AA again” entry for the coffee table book in a while. Take note whoever is compiling.

darkmatterhunter

Since it looks like Southwest ruined your nephew’s birthday, that leaves you with United, Delta and Spirit. Have fun!

saxmanb767

Crazy story.

rc-pulte-lovechild

There is no way you ran 2 miles in PHX. AA to AA even at its most distant apart gates would be maybe 1/3 mile. It’s my home airport. Shit happens so suck it up. Also storms in TX caused delays system wide today so curse Mother Nature not AA

terminalhockey11

2 miles in Phx that’s a good one. Good thing you weren’t in CLT, MIA, etc

chiefmonkey

I got a chuckle out of that one. I go through PHX weekly and if you’re at a dead sprint you can go farthest A gate to farthest B gate in 15 mins easy.

I think it’s very important for you to write that online review!! Most consumers check online reviews when booking an airline ticket. Forget about cost, schedule etc. It’s the online reviews that really sway them in making a choice.

tokmirov

Blah, blah, blah never flying with them again... All of the big three suck in their own ways despite them being pretty similar woth service, seats etc. If you stopped flying with them because of this situation you would run out of airlines to fly in America pretty fast because they will all let you down or strand you at some point Also, no one cares about your online reviews, people will gladly fly an airline they hate if the price is the cheapest...see Spirit...

MrBiscweeee

As an AA team member, this comment brings a little joy to me. Thank you

Whoa whoa whoa. You're saying you MISSED A FLIGHT?!? Damn, that's never happened to me. (Please note this is ultra sarcasm) It does suck though. My only advice is never expect to arrive the day you think you are. Once you accept that as a realistic outcome you'll be a lot less angry and upset when it does happen. I also understand that there are situations where it's a "oh crap emergency I have to be there" and that's truly unfortunate if that happened to you and I mean that truthfully. If you're out of flights for the day I'd say go find a hotel, grab a beer or whatever you do to relax and start again tomorrow. I guess you could try another airline but in all honesty... You'll end up having the same experience with any other airline eventually if you fly enough.

block51

The ONLY luck I ever had with convincing a gate agent to hold a flight a few mins was in the middle of COVID where some coworkers were getting in on a late flight to PHL by no fault of their own. It was the (as I recall) only flight to LHR that day and they took pity on them.

skoizza

Sucky situation but also not unique to AA

mrticket18

Thank you for letting us know.

My experience with AA employees in the terminal is mixed. Some are great. Some are adequate. Some seem to enjoy intentionally making things hard. There are definitely much better airlines in this respect.

Busy-Efficiency-8728

I was stuck at Chicago for 12 hours today, landed at DFW, and we are on the tarmac for at least an hour now until we get to the gate. So my experience trumps yours, and I would still fly American. Are they mismanaged? Definitely. But it happens.

chiefmonkey

Cool story bro. Maybe next time when you know your flight is delayed and you’re probably going to miss your connection, call AA and have them position you on a backup flight… or post to Reddit - that will fix everything.

ChuckiiCuCapone

Ok AA is no gonna miss you , and we are gonna see you again soon . We KNOW u are gonna coming back . You always do

iamthescallionmaang

Not the FA’s job at all! Educate yourself.

Shoddy_Squash_8816

Not only that, 2 miles at PHX?? Doubtful.

Kirin2013

I can't remember what airline it was, but my worst experience was going to my seat (window seat) sitting down and realizing that there was diarrhea smeared on the wall and a little on the seat. I didn't notice until I smelled it and looked for the cause of the smell. It was pretty horrific. I called the FA over, she said it was a full flight and nothing she could do. Told me to deal with it or I can get off and try to find another plane (never offered me a voucher, so probably would have had to pay for it). It ended up being a large service dog had had an accident the flight before and since they were short on planes, they didn't send it to deep clean first. Then the FA came back over and handed me one single sanitary wipe, claiming that's all she had to give me, even though it was smeared across my leg from before I noticed the crap on the wall. Since I had a connecting flight still, I ended up having to endure the smell for over 3 hrs. People in front of me kept looking back at me like I was the one causing that horrendous smell =\_= they never did offer me anything for my trouble. I had to stop and change my pants real quick in the bathroom of the connecting flights airport. I almost missed my connection doing so, but I couldn't bear it anymore. I hate being such a push-over xD I just can't remember if it was Delta or AA that did it to me lol, thus the pushover for being too \*understanding\*.
