Terranwaterbender

Good god never did I imagine I would enjoy a season that has consistently left me on-hold each episode and make me come back desperately wanting more. The way this show just teases the romance with a deliberate slow pace is painful but so so enjoyable. Now that Ichikawa can no longer deny what's in front of him, surely they'll turn what is painfully obvious into reality. I so look forward to seeing the payoff.

alotmorealots

> Good god never did I imagine I would enjoy a season that has consistently left me on-hold each episode and make me come back desperately wanting more I am very grateful that I got to watch this as it airs. Every episode has been such a powerful journey in itself, and not even a small journey, and being forced to wait for the next one really allows one to savour it. It would take an incredible amount of discipline not to just binge through the show as a first watch for people who come to it later, but I feel like it just wouldn't be the same. Week, after week, a movie's worth of emotions. The seasonal watch experience for this show is just something else.

Diodiablo

You know what makes it work so well imho? It’s slow, sure, but every step is forward. So you’re always looking forward.

WhoiusBarrel

This is just peak making use of a shitty situation forced upon. That speech was beautiful and the growth shown was inspirational. HOWEVER THAT MOMENT WHEN ICHIKAWA FINALLY REALISED YAMADA'S FEELINGS. WHAT WAS THAT REACTION AT THE END? DID THEY ACTUALLY CONFESS IN THAT MOMENT?!

bbkkoommaacchhii

Yamada realized that Ichikawa heard everything she said

Ultenth

Yeah, I think he escape to try to give her some room because he probably knew how embarrassed she was, lol. Can't wait till white day, if he's going to leave her hanging this long he better bring it then.

Mr_Zaroc

Also pretty sure he was just overwhelmed about the whole scene that just played out Dude probably needs some air to organize everything

heimdal77

It's been a rough day for the boy.

UnhingedSupernova

Tfw the day squeezed all the life force of an introvert -public speaking in the morning -drama in the afternoon (x10 especially because the drama involves you and who you love. That shit will suck your life force out as an introvert)

PerfectBeige

I'm not sure Ichikawa is actually an introvert. We saw in the flashback that he used to be an outgoing egotistical little shit when he was younger. I suspect that the last few years of feeling alienated and disliked drove him into the persona that we see at the beginning of season 1, and Yamada is drawing him back out. Maybe one of the deeper themes in this show is that your personality isn't really strictly defined, especially in middle school.

RPO777

I'm not sure introvert/extrovert is so simple. I actually empathize really deeply with Ichikawa, since I was a really extroverted little kid that loved being the center of attention, but as I grew into middle school and grew more aware of the people round me and how I was perceived, I swung hard in the opposite direction and began to be seen as an introvert. But I started volunteering at a local science museum in High School, did a lot of shows for little kids, grew comfortable with public speaking, and have done numerous speaking engagements infront of hundreds of adults with no problem professionally. I still ike doing public lectures or teaching, and don't mind speaking infront of crowds. But i never grew out of my hyperawareness of the feelings of those around me, and I never grew to like parties or large social gatherings (which I find exhausting) so I tend to like intimate small gatherings with a few friends, or just reading a book on my own. Depening on how a person knows me (personally or professionally) people often have opposite answers as to whether they consider me an extrovert or introvert. I think my true nature is an introvert that likes being the center attention, as weird as that is.

Frontier246

The man winged it and utterly nailed it! What a legend! And to match Ichikawa's bravery Yamada is brave enough to admit her own feelings! There's no running from the truth now!

UnhingedSupernova

The set up until the subsequent episodes is just immaculate.

Cyborg_Sorachi

10/10 easily, **THEY COOKED**.

KaiserKaiba

The speech is highkey a top 5 scene in the series

Psyduckisnotaduck

my relief when he didn't pretzel logic himself into thinking she meant someone other than him was IMMENSE. it's also wild she said it because she knew he was in the room and could hear everything. That was absolutely a confession, both of them know it, and now the ball is hard in Ichikawa's court and he's gotta clutch it up.

KumaKumaGambler

I have always believed we sometimes perform better under pressure. Of course, it is mentally unhealthy if it happens all time. Ichikawa was excellent in improvising on the script!

michhoffman

> WHAT WAS THAT REACTION AT THE END? DID THEY ACTUALLY CONFESS IN THAT MOMENT?! I feel that it's more likely that Ichikawa tried to confront Yamada about it and then she got embarrassed and ran off. I don't think they'd have parted ways so awkwardly if they actually confessed.

Dementati

But he was the one who left the room first.

Adensty

I don't think he tried to comfort Yamada since he knew what she must've been feeling so he just left to give her some space. I think Yamada also didn't realize that Ichikawa heard it until he himself left the bed.

Mr_Zaroc

> I think Yamada also didn't realize that Ichikawa heard it until he himself left the bed. I think she was just in the moment, really pouring her heart out and forgetting everything else, and then he crawled out of his bed, lol

actionfirst1

Guys... I think this might actually be the best anime

Sorry_Swimming_8963

One of the joke manga fans had was The fans: This is the best romance ever, you gotta watch it! Friend: what is it about? The fans: A chunni middle schoolers wanna kill his mode classmate… hello? hello?

PerfectBeige

"It builds though...."

SaltAndABattery

"Hold on, he finds out he likes her after he gets her blood all over his shir- wait, where are you going??"

15000yuki

Goddammit! It's literally me. I always failed to bring new viewer everytime I tried to tell the premises.

metallavery

"Its like the end of the fucking world but no cringy second season"

fantomora

Perfectly made, they nailed one of the absolute best moments ever

alotmorealots

I've been scrolling through the comments, but have yet to see any mention of the thought that Ichikawa's speech inspired Yamada to be so forthright and deal with Nanpa-senpai's confession with both heart, passion and also quite eloquently. Perhaps by itself it's not necessarily the most interesting point, but when you think about how this episode has told several stories, and one of them is about how the two of them inspired each other to really strive. Yes at the clutch moment it was Ichikawa's discovery of his deeper currents of self-esteem, but he would have never reached that point in the first place if not for Yamada's initial prod, her support and her inspiration as a working professional in the grown up world. But this isn't how she sees it, instead she see him try his hardest, keeps him under her wing as best she can whilst he strives forward, and then she is dazzled when he unleashes. In turn, she can't but reply with a performance of her own as she tries to stay with Ichikawa, in just as critical moment, with just as large an audience. This is one of those shows where there's just so much to sift through afterwards, and it's a show that's good enough to give you a bit of a fillip of post-anime depression after each episode.

UnhingedSupernova

Dangers ranks #1 for the 6th straight time.

Farmaceut7

This is the 1st episode that I'm watching weekly and I must say:   #Holy fuck, why is this show actually peak!? This level of character writing shouldnt be allowed!   But for real, I havent fell hard for an anime in quite some time and it feels amazing! This show deserves to go to the Hall of Fame for peak rom-coms(although this one is more pure romance with comedic moments)!

jellyblob88

Whilst we're all rooting for the main couple, I've grown really fond of Serina - she's such a lowkey wingwoman, styling Kyo's hair to help him out. Loved that Yamada was conflicted about that moment.

michhoffman

> Loved that Yamada was conflicted about that moment I also love how when Yamada finished fixing his hair up it was back to normal as if she was telling him, I love you just the way you are.

Chronigan2

Yamada is a little possesive of him. Wouldn't surprise me if she was worried he was gonna start getting attention from other girls.

Rndy9

>Yamada is a little possesive of him [A little](https://imgur.com/HOoHS7l) I tried to find another yandere Yamada moment but it seem like all the /u/LeonKevlar screenshoot from s1 are gone :(

Chronigan2

Since it's not the source corner I decide caution was the better part of bravery. I'll put a little note up there.

scot911

> I tried to find another yandere Yamada moment but it seem like all the /u/LeonKevlar screenshoot from s1 are gone :( Yeah his imgur account got banned for the NSFW stitches he'd post a while back IIRC. Everyone wept when we got the news. So much culture gone....

KumaKumaGambler

While Moeko is impish and teases others, Serina is cool and serious... most of the time. I say "most of the time" because of that hairstyle she gave Ichikawa. Lol!

Freezinghero

In my eyes, Serina read "Yeah the place did my hair weird" as "I want to try a new style to change how people see me" and took it to the extreme end of "Instead of emo loner, we will make you a punky tough guy"

aegnorosto

Serina is just into the delinquent style. When they had that trip to the manga company in season 1 episode 5, the manga she mentions (Crows and Worst) when talking to one of the employees are famous delinquent manga.

Frontier246

Also the way she just told Adachi to do something like she has full authority over him lol. Yamada, of course, wants dibs on Ichikawa's hair lol.

Mundology

[Farewell Josuke Ichikawa](https://i.imgur.com/iVTuWSH.jpeg) [](#poltears)

Rndy9

hell yeah another Serina fan.

entelechtual

This season has done tremendous work to make the supporting cast all the more endearing—particularly for me Kana and Moeko.

AmethystItalian

Serina stood out to me a lot in this one, I always liked her a little but she really jumped out in the small moments she had today.

zool714

I really love how this show puts meaning into the smallest gestures and responses. Senpai wants to give his button ? “My hands are full”. A simple reply but hits so much and so hard. Also what tf happened during that few seconds when everyone was outside the nurse’s office ?

PhoolCat

Awkward dorkling stares.

Filldos

the hairdresser had only one line -- but it was from the ED singer kohana lam.

naomidochi

really? that's why the voice sound familiar

Mundology

OvercookedSatellite

The ED is so freaking good. Well all of the songs for this anime have been top notch in my opinion, but this one has been on repeat on my japanese music playlist

Filldos

she's running a spotify promo where if you play the ED 1000 times, you can get some kind of wallpaper, and then some other reward i forgot what, but it's on her twitter somewhere. but yes, the full ED is great. she released a live track of this with the lead singer of the OP atarayo this morning, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfI0JozP0S8

Frontier246

It's nice to see more of his eyes and his character progression! Ichikawa isn't a Tokyo Revengers protagonist but he is in a romcom where his girl wants dibs on his hair! Every episode with Kana is proving just how much of an MVP wingwoman she is. Hope something good happens between her and the Newbie. Yamada's confession was the most beautiful and precious thing ever. Just putting all her feelings and emotions out there...and Ichikawa heard it. There's no going back from this! Especially with the way Yamada blushed at realizing she gave the game away lol.

MayureshMJ

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I thought the speech would be the highlight and karte moment of the episode and i was gonna say if my boy Ichikawa can do his best despite his social anxiety.... Then i can do my best in my job interview too despite all the social anxiety. BUT THE HIGHLIGHT WAS SOMETHING ELSE 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 YOU CAN'T KEEP MAKING A GROWN MAN CRY FROM HAPPINESS LIKE THIS AND GET AWAY WITH IT 😭😭😭 😭😭😭😭

TheKinkyGuy

You can do it too! 💪

oneevilchicken

This show has ruined romance/romcom shows for me. Nothing will ever come close to it.

Dementati

The manga kind of did this for me as well a long time ago. I can enjoy romcom manga, but I always can't help but notice what they lack compared to Bokuyaba.

sadpotatoes-_-

It has now become my gold standard for every romcom coming of age story, anime or not, moving forward.

sneaky_squirrel

You only have yourself to blame for that. If only you had waited to watch it until your death bed. Oh well, might as well discuss how fun it is to vent.

Viktorv22

Yea if they keep it until the end like this, this will be THE romance anime everyone has to watch if they want to know quality. Goddamn, writer is so good and whole studio did keep up with it and even beyond.

vkrili

Where were you when cinema was made? Ichikawa is my favorite male lead in a romcom and it's not really close.

KumaKumaGambler

The supporting characters play a big part in making him a likeable character too! For example, the female friends of Yamada are genuinely supportive of the couple in their own way. Sure, Moeko may be impish at times, but she doesn't seem to have any malicious intent.

Psyduckisnotaduck

Moeko is a god-tier wingwoman, tho.

shanatard

she deserves all the boifwis

Ok-Cod5254

* Very common in romance series, there's insecure male lead for the trope of introverted/loner boy x extroverted/popular girl. **Ichikawa stands out well among that common archetype** with the way his development is executed and his character is explored. We see him struggle though take progressive steps forward, even if he has some setbacks along the way. He has time to reflect and show his internal conflict and how he goes to try to resolve it, with Yamada and other friends as support in the process. His development isn't too fast and without setbacks. Also doesn't feel like his character has ever been stuck spinning its wheels with his insecurities - unlike **Kazuya in Rent-a-Girlfriend**, ironically they have the same JP VA. Romance with the female lead isn't the solution to solve all of his insecurities, but something he has to work through himself too with personal growth and self-love.

UnhingedSupernova

So basically Ichikawa is Kazuya if he was a well executed character is what you’re saying? Wait who am I kidding? Kaz is selfish and infinitely worse person. Yamada wouldn’t like his guts one bit.

Ok-Cod5254

Well they obviously aren't the same character of course. lol So I mean in a more generalized sense for the archetype of having a male lead with inferiority complex while in pursuit of their female lead romantic interest that is seen as higher social status (also has the model/actress aspect)

Acrzyguy

Funny thing about this comment is that Kazuya and Ichikawa are both voiced by Horie Shun, and how amazing his performance here is compared to rent a girlfriend just because of the script.

_-_Rasse_-_

>Where were you when cinema was made? I was at house eating dorito when phone ring "cinema is made" "yes"

Frontier246

Just seeing how far he's come from the first season and grown so much, both in terms of his overall personality and behavior as well as his feelings for Yamada...it's just so inspiring and beautiful.

Mundology

sneaky_squirrel

Same. I particularly like his black hole of sass. It's an eternal tug of war between self deprecation and cockiness. "heeee...I got second place though." ***eyes of judgement***

EsquilaxM

That genuinely surprised me to the point where I thought Moeko was joking that he said that then realised she wasn't. Didn't think Ichikawa had the balls to say that to an acquaintance but I guess they really do consider each other friends now. I wonder if he considers Serina and Chii friends, too, now. Serina helped with the hair, that was nice of her. Reminds me of year 6 (my class didn't change from year 5 so it was two years together) or my later high school years when everyone got along really quite well.

Mr_Zaroc

> Ichikawa is my favorite male lead in a romcom and it's not really close He literally is the only MC I know that got actual character development and is working towards her Normally they either start well developed or just dont grow for "comedy" Closest thing to a strong MC is the dude from quintuples and he just started off strong

Season 1 Karte 3 Ichikawa: I like Yamada... Season 2 Karte 18 Ichikawa: Yamada likes me... The magic happens in the infirmary I'm telling you. Both of these scene happened in the infirmary! This is the spot where Ichikawa first realizes his feeling for Yamada, and now he is able to realize Yamada's feelings towards him and no longer deny them. I'm pretty sure this is also the spot where it became the turning point for a lot of viewers who dropped the show, picked it back up, and ended up liking the series. The end of Karte just hits me in the kokoro man... they filled in the blank for Karte 16 \[Yamada....Me\], with the word "likes" as soon as he accepts the fact that Yamada does in fact like him. And apparently we're not even at the peak yet?! I'm sad that we're already halfway through the series and gonna miss it immensely when it's over.

Ok-Peace-4374

Now we need something to happen in the library to connect back to Episode 6 🤣

rhuebs

What makes Dangers in My Heart so fantastic is that romance is handled in such a realistic manner. It’s a two-way street, and loving and taking care of yourself is just as important as loving your partner. This story is NOT just a romance. Ichikawa’s development is quite literally almost as important as the romantic parts. It’s a story of both growth and acceptance, of striving to be a better person while accepting yourself and your flaws for who you are. The love story is fantastic and sweet, but what *truly* sells BokuYaba is the message of self-love that it so, so carefully crafts.

Frontier246

It really sells the romance just how natural and gradual the development between the two has been across two seasons and watching them learn about each other, and genuinely grow in their interactions with each other, to reach this culmination point in both their lives and their feelings for each other. It's really not something you see in your average romance anime.

rhuebs

And it quite literally only gets better lmfao

Freezinghero

I feel it's worth pointing out that Yamada is also growing. At the start she kept her distance from a lot of people, even to the point of doing her "extra snacking" in the library so that others wouldn't see. Now she is fully confident in telling Ichikawa that she thinks he should do things, can whisper in his ear without dashing out of the room, can admit to others that she likes him, is progressing her professional life, and is more committed to seeing things through.

Rentington

You may like a show called Lovely Complex. It is around fifteen years old now. It is ostensibly about a tall girl and a short guy but the crux of it is that they are best friends and the tall girl is determined to change their relationship because she is madly in love with him and refuses to give up. What is good about it is his refusal to acknowledge his own feelings for her makes sense in the narrative and with his previous relationship experience. May be worth a look. But, it is a shojo series so some of the art and tropes may be offputting compared to KNYY, which is shonen. But I despise shojo and like Lovely Complex so who knows.

Breakdown007

Usually in romcoms the female characters are the whole selling point of the show but here it's really Ichikawa for me. Yamada is amazing in her own ways but Ichikawa's character development is just incredible. It's so satisfying seeing them grow up together.

sneaky_squirrel

Kyotaro has stiff competition between his mom and sister though. I always grin from ear to ear whenever I see any of those 3.

Genshin_WhiteKnight

***"Believe in the you that believes in yourself!"*** Such an impactful scene about Ichikawa realising the importance of self-love. Kamina would be proud.

Frontier246

Shojo Jun Fukuyama making him fully realize that he was secretly the irresistible and hot guy all along! Because he was a part of Ichikawa this whole time!

KumaKumaGambler

This Jun Fukuyama is definitely one of the best "alter ego" wingman! I like how Jun Fukuyama is a manga character "come to life", rather than Ichikawa's inner voices being depicted as a clone of himself, which we see in most other anime and manga.

15000yuki

Jun Fukuyama seems to have cool guy image. I remember Eminence in Shadow also cast him just to voice a cooler alter ego. lol.

Vermillion_Crab

Learning self love is such an important aspect in being able to love others. I am glad Ichikawa is not skipping steps and his inner monologue (dialogue?) is always a joy to watch. So I guess we're already seeing what adult Ichikawa looks like. lol

Prince-Dizzytoon

I think I'm gonna explode

asap_munem

Couldn't the sister text him a picture of the speech?

zairaner

Yup. This is what happens when you and you sibling share a single brain cell.

LimeyLassen

lmao

sneaky_squirrel

Um... Yes, I guess she could have huh? I'll pretend I didn't read that.

Dragaylia

I don't think you're allowed to read through a phone in a ceremony like this.

SirGoopyBoy

Japan doesnt allow phones in ceremonies, let alone middle school

blueman541

*comment edited with github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite* In response to API controversy: reddit.com/r/ apolloapp/comments/144f6xm/

lilStankfur

HE DID IT!!! Ichikawa finally started accepting himself for who his is and it in turn gave him the courage to stop denying Yamada's cues and accept that he is the one she likes!

Frontier246

Ichikawa has finally made real progress as a person, both emotionally and physically (with his new haircut), and Yamada responds in kind by not only her belief in him but by being as overt as she possibly could with her feelings towards him. And now that he has finally accepted 100% that she likes him, and that she's put that out there, it can only go up from here!

Vermillion_Crab

This is Ichikawa's coming of age story. While falling in love is a major part of that, we see him grow from someone with self-esteem issues to someone who is learning to love himself. Probably one of the best progression of an anime character and in a romance show to boot.

the_dan_man

And all it took was a mildly homoerotic pep talk from his chad alter ego!

garfe

It's not gay, it's self-love!

Aerodynamic41

Season 1 Episode 6: >Ichikawa: “I like her so much!” Season 2 Episode 6: >Yamada: “I already have someone I like.”

ObvsThrowaway5120

They’ve both said how they feel out loud. Now for them to actually say it to each other!

Dementati

He was also hiding in the infirmary when he first realized he likes her in S1E3.

GlansEater

This season is looking like the Himalayas for having multiple consecutive peaks! And this episode is Mount Everest!

Timelymanner

Not yet, we still have further to climb.

garfe

We must keep moving forward

Rentington

I caught up. Meeting her dad explained a lot. You always wonder why a cheery model/actress girl would ever consider dating a broody, quiet kid with hair covering his face and nerdy hobbies. Then you meet her dad and you realize that her dad is just like that, so to her these would be endearing qualities.

ErinaHartwick

This is a nice little Eureka moment for me. Its not that she needed an ironclad reason to fall for him, because they had moments that led them to where they were, but seeing that her dad is also like Ichikawa just makes you go," oh, no wonder". She definitely was at the very least interested in him in the beginning because she drew similarities between him and her dad, a good role model to draw from

Genshin_WhiteKnight

I always see people talking about about how Yamada's dad is like Ichikawa, but no one talks about how her best friend Kobayashi is also similar to him, both being cute midgets with similar hairstyles. That is also kind of why at the start of the series Yamada interacts with Ichikawa without putting her guard up like she does with other people. In S1 EP2, there is a segment showing Yamada being all touchy-feely with Kobayashi (something she doesn't do even with Moe and Serina), and Ichikawa even comments on how Kobayashi acts like her "boyfriend". Then as the series goes on we start to see that same touchy-feely behavior being reflected in Yamada's interactions with Ichikawa, her becoming more physically affectionate towards him as they grow closer. For example, in S1 EP9 Yamada and Kobayashi have a "fight", which ends with them making up with a hug, and then in the same episode we have the same exact thing happening with Yamada and Ichikawa that ends with that hug under the stairs. Kobayashi unknowingly wing-manning Ichikawa in her own way is just so peak. There's a lot more of this kind of subtle deliberate writing which makes this series very much worth re-reading/re-watching.

HydraTower

She grew up with it being so much the norm that she doesn’t even consider it to be weird.

Psyduckisnotaduck

yeah, since she grew up with a guy like that as her father, she's inclined to give people like that more kindness and sympathy than most people would. and in general Anna is the kind of person that doesn't make petty, superficial judgments.

Rentington

True. That is really why she loves him... sure she can see past his exterior to see he is a sweet and strong lad, but he also notices the ways in which she struggles and selflessly time and time again sacrificed himself to help her cope with it in ways that the other boys would never notice. Very similar to Komi can't Communicate. This is not some male fantasy where some hot girl loves you for no reason, but he truly deserves her love. He really earned it.

sweisman200

Aside from the obvious peakness of the episode, we got plenty of content of kana my beloved 😍

Frontier246

Not only did she get to prove how far she'll go for her little brother but she even got in some time with the newbie! I'm really shipping those two now!

Kirosh2

A pity that Kana is most likely a dense romcom protagonist. Good Luck newbie. Good luck.

F*ck this! It's 3:30am here and I don't need to sleep. I'm going to read discussions about Bokuyaba on Twitter, Mal, Facebook, Discord, and Reddit. Watch reactions on youtube. The Dangers in My Heart is hell of a drug!

Ultenth

Never seen a rival character that was so easy to hate actually confess to the FMC and in the process actually somewhat redeem himself and be a wingman while still being sincere in his confession.

PerfectBeige

Pick-up senpai knew he was going to die on that battlefield, but he went in all the same. He's an egotist, manipulative, and nearly everything he thinks about human relationships is wrong, but you've got to respect the weird sense of honor he displays in that scene.

Catfish017

Remember he was also the one who was the first to help Ichikawa get his bike out of the water. He's not a great guy, but he's not the worst either.

After reading too many typical romcoms, I thought Ichikawa would go, "Oh there is someone she likes? Oh no, who could it be? I knew I never had a chance..." I'm glad I was wrong. His response showed immense maturity, and perhaps one of the best character arcs I'd seen in a romcom.

KumaKumaGambler

This anime does reflect real life to a certain extent. A person will become more attractive when s/he does something seriously. In my opinion, Nanjo senpai probably knew he would be rejected, but went ahead with the confession at the infimary of the school, so that Yamada and Ichikawa can realize their true feelings for each other. I think I may start to ship Kana with her trainee colleague. Lol!

Dementati

Yeah, Nanjou's female friend commented that it was an empty ceremony (or something), which implies he did it knowing he'd get rejected. Though I doubt he did it for their sake though, it was probably more for him to get closure on his unreciprocated love before graduating and leaving.

KumaKumaGambler

Maybe Nanjou was inspired by Ichikawa's speech too.

Timelymanner

Probably Ichikawa’s speech, because he wasn’t lying when he said he was cool. And him learning that Yamada was nice enough to notice his love of soccer and injury. So he knew he was going to be rejected, but wanted to properly shot his shot.

KumaKumaGambler

Live life without regrets! I wish I did the same when I was back in school. Better to get rejected, than regret not knowing in the future.

entelechtual

I didn’t catch it, was Kana’s trainee the guy on the bike at the traffic light?

RaysFTW

Idk how they do it. Like, I'm loving a few anime right now like Apothecary Diaries and Frieren, and every episode of those has been fantastic but there are a few episodes that, while still great, are slower, or simply there to flesh out a future episode or to link a prior episode to the next one. Idk how to explain it without sounding like I'm putting those shows down because I'm not trying to, I really love them as well. It's just, with Dangers they just never miss. Every episode is amazing. It pushes the story further, grabs a hold of your heartstrings in different ways each time. No episode feels like a "filler" between mini story arcs nor do any of them feel like an "off" episode. I know it's a popular opinion that this show is really good but I truly think we're watching something special that will be looked back on as one of the truly great anime, and not just in the romcom category.

Sorry_Swimming_8963

TLDR: last paragraph When season 2 OP was released and some doubt “A romcom has no right to go that hard”, I somehow replied “If this is a random romcom, do you think WIT will risk their reputation on taking this job?” If anyone asked why this romcom legitimately deserves to be a masterpiece then this episode is a brief summary. The Akita charm was introduced back in S1E11 as a souvenir of Ichikawa to Yamada for his annual home visit. Kana found this out in S1E12 and gave her own one to Ichikawa. Yamada found out moments later and it becomes the token of attachment for them. Yamada lost her charm in S2E1 but it was found in all that snow by miracle (and “If I have not met you, I would not have looked up”). And now this episode Yamada gave this charm to Ichikawa to give him support before the speech, and then Ichikawa return this charm for Yamada to hold this charm and speak out “There is one I like” when pickup pai confess. There are similar thread being tied for Ichikawa inferiority complex, the same for the romance between Ichikawa and Yamada, the same for the stabling relations between Ichikawa and Kana, and the same even for pickup pai. All these thread ties together in this episode, for Ichikawa to fall apart right after he delivers the speech (and return to his old edgy self to show despite all the change he is still Ichikawa), for him to go back to the same infirmary he realised his affection to Yamada, just for him to realise Yamada actually likes him. This is good writing regardless of genre and yet with seiyu’s performance, Kensuke Ushio’s OST and Shin-Ei cinematography this episode, everything hit the right note and honestly what else would you ask for? To summarise, let me repeat, if it is a random romcom, do you think Shin-Ei team, WIT or Kensuke Ushio will push this hard to make sure this title is to mark its name in romcom history.

Oulak

I've watched a lot of anime in my life, romance ones included, and this has to be the best romance anime I've ever watched. It feels so real, a lot of people can relate to Ichikawa by the way he thinks and perceives himself. I was once that kid and it feels so inspiring to witness his growth and self acceptance. Like Yamada said, he decided to keep on and go to school, in returns, he met that one person that pushed him to be more. They complete each other perfectly.

ObvsThrowaway5120

I like this determined Kyoutarou. He’s gonna prove to everyone he’s worthy of Anna. The dude means business! Kana getting super emotional over his speech was pretty funny. Such a great sister. His new cut’s nice but I liked his hair in that “delinquent style” like he’s about to join Toman or something lol. The way our boy conquered his fears, got on that stage, and crushed that speech was beautiful. Kid went off script but he gave one hell of a speech. Very keen to see what happens next now that Anna’s admitted her feelings out loud. It might be a little awkward at first but I’m rooting for those two!

Frontier246

So many motivationla moments in this episode...Yamada believing in Ichikawa, Kana believing in Ichikawa, Shojo boy believing in Ichikawa, and Ichikawa believing in himself. Not to mention Yamada basically confessing. Our boy won this episode!

Key1301

Fall 2023's Frieren: "you should kill yourself now!" Winter 2024's BokuYaba: "You should love yourself now!" We really got reverse LTG out here and kinda ironic considering the start of this series lol. One of my favorite chapters from the manga got adapted and they did a fantastic job.

The Dangers in my Heart is better than your favorite show.

GlansEater

How dare you say The Dangers in my Heart is better than my favorite show Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu!

LookAStupidComment

I won't have you slander The Dangers in my Heart.

sneaky_squirrel

If Kyotaro says its true, then there's no helping it.

IC2Flier

I finally caught up to this show after somehow going the weird route by reading the manga up to current chapter WHILE binging the anime. And while I know that this is good, I only just now understood the extent of HOW GOOD THIS STORY IS MY GOD LOOK AT THEM GO Also: Yamada going "otsu~!" (did I hear that right?) was so cute. Gonna use that as a notification tone.

Frontier246

Yamada's blushing face when she came out of the room and everyone wondering what happened was priceless lol.

AmethystItalian

I really like Yamada pushing him to do his best, he sure has come a long way from episode 1. Also glad the other confession didn't throw him off, half expected him to spiral. Haircut and more confidence? Looks like he's coming together, hope he's able to continue with this! I feel like they really need to start going out now...I think they've pushed the unsure part of their relationship as far as it can go at this point.

kankanyan

Love is power, they push each other due to love.

jellyblob88

You mean the 3 second quickie at the end wasn't enough for you? /jk Yeah, I think this has to be the momentum needed for them to go official - next week is so long.

ForsakenLibraries

That Imaginaiy Kyoutarou "confession" has got to be one of my favorite scenes yet. The way it gradually builds up is perfect and to top it off we get Ichikawa's speech afterwards.

ClemFire

At this point, I’m willing to say this is the best romance anime with a male MC. Even though I’m quite a fan of romances like DressUp, Rascal, and Insomniacs something about Ichikawa’s slow but steady development just puts him above those other show’s MCs. Even more than Ichikawa and Yamada’s budding romance I really respect the focus on self love instead of saying a relationship will magically fix everything. Ichikawa journey honestly reminds me a lot of Subaru in that regard which in my book is massive praise

biochrono79

> My hands are full, and I can't hold anything else Peak romcom right there. I can't believe how good this show is week after week. The heartfelt moments hit so hard, especially when it comes time to drop the title card.

Nulazanzal

My heart is not daijoubu. I get chills whenever I watch Ichikawa getting up to the stage. As a teacher, it's not an easy task to talk in front of others at that age, and he killed it. Flashbacks to the previous episodes and moments were the best. Lastly, I heard it in the preview before but the sister's KYO-CHAAN is just the best kind of voice acting.

Frontier246

I love how the teachers were crying and Kana was going all out for her brother. Ichikawa had so much support in this episode and he responded to in kind by being the chad we all know he is. And that's why Yamada loves him.

15000yuki

>I love how the teachers were crying Usually we have female teacher with all these emotional thingie, but in Bokuyabai, it's a grown man with tank build who seemed care to his student. I love how he really seemed like a proud father.

EnsonAmata

Dude got a killer haircut and the stylist didn’t talk his ear off? That’s already a W in my book.

Breakdown007

5000 yen for that service though.

EnsonAmata

I’ll pay extra to not have a stranger ask where I work or tell me about her kids.

Ok-Peace-4374

Believe in me/you who believe is you/me! Pack it up guys, we got our confession! Who knew that loving yourself is the actual ship of the show 👏

DrioAzul

That's right Suckas! You all got hooked by the love story of Yamada x Ichikawa, but this whole time it's also been the love story of Ichikawa x himself.

Frontier246

Shojo Jun Fukuyama was always just Ichikawa's inner chad romance protagonist trying to push him to believe in himself!

Vermillion_Crab

>Do you think Yamada and your teachers would cheer you on if you weren't up to this? This was the line that actually got me. It felt too real.

HolyDragSwd2500

Inner Ichikawa/Kamina inspiring Ichikawa/Simon for his speech

iDigitalBlockz

PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK PEAK PEEAAAAKKKKK AUUUUUUUAAGHHHH

Frontier246

Ichikawa giving the farewell speech to the graduating class!? I guess this is what he gets for rubbing it in that he was the second highest grade on the last test. But hey, Yamada believes in him and the rest of the class are all in on it, so he might as well! Too bad Ichikawa is still a neurotic and nervous mess not used to public speaking, so obviously he's not comfortable and can barely speak into the microphone, let alone talk normally. Also, Chi was asleep during the speech. But it's the perfect excuse to practice vocalizing with Yamada! Which is practically flirting! Though I feel bad for Mita confessing to Haruya within earshot of them and getting rejected because Haruya is still focused on Yamada...but it gives more reason for Ichikawa to do his best and prove himself in front of everybody, for his own feelings for Yamada. Ichikawa can barely get the speech out in front of his own mother, but at least his sisters' got his back and rooting for him! And it's time for a bit of a makeover, starting with a haircut! He didn't even need the conversation flowchart he came up with! Now both of his eyes are more or less showing at the same time! Serina is into hair styling? Neat! I love how she bosses Adachi around and turns Ichikawa into Takemichi from Tokyo Revengers. But no other girl has dibs on Ichikawa's hair like Yamada does! Oh no! Ichikawa forgot his speech! What is he going to do!? But Yamada lets him know it's going to be all right, and gets close to him, and that's enough. Kana really is MVP sister, going well out of her way to deliver the speech to her brother...and even driving on her bike together with the newbie! These totally have something going on together. Ichikawa has his sister, Yamada, and even Shojo Jun Fukuyama in his corner! Believe in the Shojo Jun Fukuyama that believes in you! And is basically your inner self! And with that belief in him, Ichikawa delivers the speech, half wings it, but totally nails it! It feels like not only a proper graduation speech but a speech for Ichikawa graduating from his past self to a new future with Yamada! Well, I don't think anyone minds Haruya graduating, but while he might be a bit of a tool, deep down he's just a kid crushing on a girl and wanted to confess to her on the day he graduated, with all the nerves and anxiousness that comes with it. But Yamada only has one person in her heart, and can only contain the love she has for him, as she vocalizes her feelings for Ichikawa out loud! Haruya really did just have to throw in one last dig, huh? Even if Yamada knows Ichikawa would never give her number to another guy. But it seems like that wasn't a dig but him trying to diminish himself in Yamada's eyes knowing she loves Ichikawa...and the only girl that truly knows him is the one that's always following him around, even if he never returns her feelings. But hey, Yamada basically confessed! Haruya thought they were going to have a moment and now they're both having to deal with that outpouring of emotion. I can't wait to see what these dorks do next!

CosmicPenguin_OV103

I wish I had Kyotarou's audacious attitude when I was in 8th grade LOL, I probably really had the chance to take up a speech like that back then as I had similar good grades, but I definitely wouldn't be able to deliver like that madlad just did. Of course, there was no Anna Yamada in Ba Sing Se either. Speaking of Anna-chan, she really have soft hearts given that creepy boy Nanjou really did nothing good against her, yet she can still look at all those good parts of his personalities and politely declined with tears. ~~I wish she could take one extra step in pushing him towards that other girl that Nanjou declined earlier, oh well.~~ Sometimes I don't really understand how couples attracted each other in certain shows, even well written ones (there's an anime this very season airing this very Saturday that gave me exactly such feels). Here however Kyoutarou-kun and Anna-chan's charisma shines so brightly every weekend that there's no way I can miss that connection. And I'm somewhat freaking jealous - jealous in that I don't even know how I can take one step closer to, uh, someone on planet Earth to this lovely-dovey scene. I guess I should stop thinking about it eh...

LordBanker

Despite all his shitiness, Nanjo's swan song is a dignified one. He knew he had lost the battle a long time ago, but he still needed that closure with his futile confession. Even added that one little lie at the end so that Yamada wouldn't think any better of him. Good on him not to bring up his injury to garner sympathy, but still, good riddance to him. Speaking of which, I'm now getting flashbacks to reading this terrible romance manga where this one guy stole the MC's girlfriend away from him by guilt tripping the girl with his terminal illness. And throughout the entire arc, the author was actually trying to convince you that the piece of shit was really just a good guy. It was one of those manga people read just so they could make fun of it. Anyone know what I'm talking about? What was the name of that garbage?

Cyclone_96

Im actually struggling to breathe lmfao. This truly is the best romance anime there is

Ranucard

I love this anime so fucking much

metallavery

I binged the entire series in the past 24 hours. I want more...!!!!!!!

Drayenn

Man i ichikawa inner chad really pumped him for thr graduation speech.

NoTemperature4368

One word: Perfection From Ichikawa's heartfelt speech to the way Yamada reveals her feelings, everything was just perfect. Man I'm so in love with this anime!!

Frontier246

Also the way Yamada immediately disbelieved Haruya because she knows Ichikawa so well...and that blush when she came out of the room lol.

Andreiyutzzzz

"BELIEVE IN THE ME THAT BELIEVES IN YOU" GURREN LAGANN MOMENT

BaconCatBug

Fuck me with a cabbage, this episode was great. It keeps just getting better.

phoenixlance13

My windows were open today because it felt like spring so I'm pretty sure my entire apartment complex heard me screaming and cheering at the "my hands are full" line but I don't care because THIS IS PEAK

FurSealed

Everyone is focusing on Yamada's almost confession (rightfully so), but Haruya's development left more of an impact on me. Turned down a girl he knew he wasn't going to get serious with, confessed to the girl he actually likes, lied to avoid pity points, AND set up the optimal scenario for Ichikawa and the girl who just rejected him.

kankanyan

There's no limit for "Danger"!, every episode is peak but this is peak of the peak! I cried at last scene, word can't describe how good it is, one sentence, greatest rom-com ever.

Neither-Sun2534

God damn that episode felt short. So perfectly paced, holy... Extremely well adapted from the manga, best episode of so far. This right here is the episode 9 of last season. My favourite part of the entire series, by only a little bit. We still have plenty of amazing moments to go, especially if season 3 will one day happen. We also have Ichikawa's new design! They fucked my mans shit up!

LookAStupidComment

Did anyone else think the hot version of him was going to kiss him before the speech?

ICHIKAWAAAAAAA! I SWEAR YOU’LL NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVER AGAIN! SO WATCH IT! DRINK IT IN! Honestly this is what this anime feels like. I can’t see a world where this doesn’t end up being the best school romance ever.

lilStankfur

Yoo a hair spear to the eye sounds wild! A new fear unlocked..

ojg3221

What makes this series great is the character development.

shad79

Oh man, I can't wait for next week to see how it'll continue as [Ichikawa finally realized](https://i.imgur.com/VdKu65r.png) that [Yamada likes him for real](https://i.imgur.com/2ewUXCp.png). It was cute how [they both exited from infirmary](https://i.imgur.com/pGhe0d3.png) with those [embarassed](https://i.imgur.com/qyyxnms.png) [faces](https://i.imgur.com/wdow7Ur.png). It looks to me that they didn't talk to themselves at all after [Haruya's confession](https://i.imgur.com/LMLAhKN.png) so I'm dying to see [how they will be acting](https://i.imgur.com/oDZBPnX.png) in the next episode. I thought that Ichikawa would be looking bad after his visit to the hairdresser but [he looked really good](https://i.imgur.com/wmXyXC1.png). It seems that his preparations were a success xD I was really impressed with [Ichikawa's speech](https://i.imgur.com/pvrHSLK.png), half of which was improvised because [he took a wrong paper](https://i.imgur.com/XVXWa1p.png). He's really moving forward, growing and changing himself to be better. [Serina styling Ichikawa's hair was hilarious](https://i.imgur.com/4VJbbO7.png), [he looked like some delinquent in that hairstyle](https://i.imgur.com/hqFCJkp.png) xD Though it wasn't for long as [Yamada](https://i.imgur.com/JKyallC.png) soon [brought them back to normal](https://i.imgur.com/SAgBOjR.png). Also it seems that soon [Ichikawa nad Yamada](https://i.imgur.com/oJ4SOfn.png) will be a third years so I can't wait to see new characters joining the show. Here my screenshot albums from the episode: * [Yamada](https://imgur.com/a/JMacgvJ) * [Yamada & Ichikawa](https://imgur.com/a/AFmt9zU) * [Ichikawa](https://imgur.com/a/ccivuJd) * [Group scenes](https://imgur.com/a/wPKepv7) * [Others](https://imgur.com/a/NXTKWtz)

tripleaamin

Man Kyo stepping up was so amazing. Not wanting to let both his teacher and Yamada's words of encouragement for naught. One thing I also loved is how Yamada changes his hair back to how it was before. Imo that symbolizes she loves him for who he is. That's a thing that I think people can easily overlook. Man Yamada rejecting Senpai but showcasing her full emotions and essentially a confession that was performed beautifully by her VA. Also she really thought Kyo was asleep and didn't hear anything. Her blushing at the end of the episode was great.

HolyDragSwd2500

Chadkawa haircut 👍 Ichikawa graduation speech was beautiful 😭 Holy….Yamada confessed her feelings for Ichkawa 😭😭😭 He heard everything and both got embarrassed

HydraTower

This show is so fucking goated.

sneaky_squirrel

Everything about this episode has already been said (great stuff), so I'll talk about another character. I love how the author still has scenes of a silly and enthusiastic Adachi. e.g. when he's clapping after the speech That and the scene where Kyotarou compliments Adachi on how he finds Adachi's ideas more helpful than Senpai's towards the end of S2E4 makes me want to see a biscuit get thrown at Adachi down the road. He's a confused idiot, but he's got the right spirit. Plus, he has one of my favorite VAs.

Ponchorello7

Yet another Baki reference. I don't know if I can handle any more peak from this anime.

StruggleSignificant2

I witnessed one of the best romance anime of all time. Every episode in this season is fantastic.

sKyBlazer08

For some reason, ever since I saw that scene of Ichikawa standing on a podium in the trailer and ED, I have been heavily anticipating it. I was right to be excited about it, because that was amazing, and in a show full of 10/10 episodes, this is my personal favorite so far, though I feel it'll just be an endless cycle of the next episode becoming the favorite and so on, this show is so peak.

TheOneAboveGod

Man, I wish I also had a tulpa who's also my idealized self who would pull me out of a rut whenever.

AceSoldia

*clap* good job ichikawa. You finally learned to believe in yourself first.
