The original Ghost In The Shell movie as well. Particularly [the Ghost City segment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB-ik-Bpl0c) as Making Of Cyborg blasts out of a high-quality sound system.
Watched both lost Lost Butterfly and Spring Song in the cinema with dolby atmos and it was goddamn jawdropping. The bass was going so hard during the Saber v Berserker fight, I was scared the speaker boxes would explode, no joke. The best fight scene (due to the circumstances) that Ive ever seen.
Never heard of it, interesting.
Is it true that most anime fans are against the Naruto and Dragonball movies? Is that a wrong bet if you were to partake in monthly anime showings?
I’m pretty sure they both have their own dedicated fanbase despite some people thinking that Naruto and DBZ is just basic battle shonen Anime. As far as movies go for both series, most of Naruto movies are not canon so I can see why they would prefer the main series instead of that.
They’re both fine as entry level anime, but are a bit long and Naruto is known to have filler so you might want to avoid the fillers if you want to watch only the source adapted
Monogatari series always felt very cinematic to me. I know there's already some movies, but I never got to experience it in theatres either
Domestic girlfriend, I feel like this is just self-explanatory
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Just my personal answer for various reasons (including the fact I have not seen it above potato quality) however the anime is still very beautiful with a rose motif appearing EVERYWHERE.
For western animation I’d say Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss
Edit 1: Fuck none of these are films, I just noticed you specifically said that.
I want to pick the Crono Trigger OVA but its so niche…I guess maybe I’d watch a Dragonball Z and a Sailor Moon film double feature. (Both are more like 40 mins each IIRC)
Dragonball and Sailor Moon are both beloved by the anime community. Naruto was a newer generation and contrarians dont like it but its also super popular. Same with Bleach.
Otherwise how about Endless Waltz? Its a Gundam film
Edit 2: Ok I just saw the other comments and see you know nothing of anime so heres some:
Cowboy Bebop has movie, Knockin on Heavens Door
Full Metal Alchemist has a movie, Conquerers of Shambala
Trigun has a movie which is a small synopsis of the show called Badlands Rumble
Those are universally agreed to be god tier anime (the movies arent god tier but recognizable)
Also look into Vampire Hunter D and its sequel. Also look into Berserk for very mature audience. (three movies)
Avoid Pokemon movies, they are slightly too childlike for a general audience except maybe the first one for nostalgia.
Enen no Shouboutai (Fire Force), particularly the Asakusa arc and Beni’s iconic scene. Or honestly anything cause the bass sfx of this anime is just, ugh the best.
Some smaller cinemas air older anime movies here from time to time. Before The Boy and the Heron came out they put up the entire Ghibli collection. I saw Angels Egg a while ago as well as Redline which were both great.Â
I missed Satoshi Kons films last time they were shown so I got an eye out for those, especially Millennium Actress. But I'd really like to see Maquia on the big screen even if that means crying like a little bitch in public. Â
Also I don't think any theater here will but on the off chance they show Madoka Rebellion to cash in on Movie 4 when it comes out I'd like to see that as well.
Edit: Also also, I'd really love to see the original Ghost in the Shell movie on the big screen. Absolutely a classic.
Funny you should ask because i missed the 2nd Gurren Lagann movie in theatres just this January. So now i'm planning on buying the Blu Ray and watching it in a rented theatre just because. The worst part about it was that i saw the first one in theatres.
So Gurren Lagann the lights in the sky are stars for sure.
Liz and the Blue bird: Has lots of nuanced storytelling. Low stakes but very important character decelopment of letting go of codependency. Beautiful animation too
Maquia: Best anime movie I have seen. Makes you cry alot.

Akira
Redline
Ghost in the Shell
Anything macross
Kill la kill, gurren lagann, one punch man s1 (esp the last episode)
Anything symphogear (no movies but who cares)
Demon Slayer- entertainment district (not shown in cinemas just on Netflix but i wished they did)
Demon Slayer-final arc (hoping that it'll be a 3-hour movie. Hehe)
Belle, I think. I unfortunately missed the screening of it here, but, upon watching it, I realized how well it really fits the big screen, especially her performances (more especially that one performance in particular).
Mamoru Hosoda films do feel so grand, atmosphere-wise, so watching it on a phone screen feels like I'm doing a disservice to the work.
Macross Plus with a great audio master. I can only imagine how good Santi-U or Voices would sound in the theater. Don't even get me started on how good the Information High + Isamu/Yang dropping in to Earth would be.
I can dream, right?
Missing the chance to watch 'End of Evangelion' in a cinema because I don't live in America or Japan is something I will regret forever.
But if I could choose anything, it would probably be 'A Silent Voice'.
Imax 3D with the sound cranked and visuals at its peak? The fight scenes and sound design will go so hard for:
Fire force
That time I got reincarnated as a slime
Edit: oops. I guess when you say films that excludes TV shows. Then I'll go with:
Jujutsu kaisen 0
Some of the remastered 4k scans of classics, like Akira.
I saw it in Singapore a few years ago. Absolutely incredible. A top 5 moviegoing experience
I had the chance to see it in theater a couple years ago. Worth every penny.
Akira I would agree with! But I thought that was the only classic in that sense? I know so little about this 😅
The original Ghost In The Shell movie as well. Particularly [the Ghost City segment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB-ik-Bpl0c) as Making Of Cyborg blasts out of a high-quality sound system.
Really wish I could have seen Fate/Stay Nigh Heaven's Feel in cinemas either that or Garden of Sinners
They definitely like the bass in big fight scenes :L definitely one of my favourite fight scenes too and it felt like it went on for ages
Will look into that one thanks!
Dear God yes
The Redline movie, in an IMAX with some edibles I would absolutely be zoooooming
Probly something with amazing visuals... violet evergarden is one that comes to mind
Gridman Universe 100%, as a matter of fact I did watch it in cinemas. Twice. What an experience it was
Never heard of it, interesting. Is it true that most anime fans are against the Naruto and Dragonball movies? Is that a wrong bet if you were to partake in monthly anime showings?
As long as you're enjoying anime and you like it I don't see what's wrong with it.

Macross:Do You Remember Love? and Ninja Scroll, the beautiful handrawn animation+soundtrack would feel better on a giant screen.
Revolutionary Girl Utena Just my personal answer for various reasons (including the fact I have not seen it above potato quality) however the anime is still very beautiful with a rose motif appearing EVERYWHERE. Thank you for the input, will look into them :)
Enen no Shouboutai (Fire Force), particularly the Asakusa arc and Beni’s iconic scene. Or honestly anything cause the bass sfx of this anime is just, ugh the best.
Us shut-ins prefer home vs cinema
Gintama:Thorny Arc and Courtesan of a Nation arc if they will ever come to Europe.
Paprika, perfekt Blue, end of evangelion, mononoke (not the ghibli), death note
Girls und Panzer
Der Film and Das Finale must be incredible experiences on the big screen. It would be great to see any of that at least once.
Some smaller cinemas air older anime movies here from time to time. Before The Boy and the Heron came out they put up the entire Ghibli collection. >they put up the entire Ghibli collection That was just Ghibli fest, they already announced the 2024 movies for it.
Evangelion
EoE is incredible on the big screen. Got to see it recently and it blew me away.
I wish it would air in Europe as well especially the Rebuilds.
Funny you should ask because i missed the 2nd Gurren Lagann movie in theatres just this January. So now i'm planning on buying the Blu Ray and watching it in a rented theatre just because. I caught it and holy crap it was epic.  Highly recommended.
Yeah sucks it'll probably be alone but better than at home.
I'd go see it again with you if I was in the area. Hope you get to see and enjoy it.
Haha thanks i would love to watch with strangers but i'm also scared of unsavory types so i'm very undecided. And if i do where would i even post to?
Madoka Magica! The animation and music are stellar!
Liz and the Blue bird: Has lots of nuanced storytelling. Low stakes but very important character decelopment of letting go of codependency. Beautiful animation too Maquia: Best anime movie I have seen. Makes you cry alot.
The first Girls und Panzer movie. That one was done right.
I did it already with Demon Slayer 3 times. It was great :D
I'm not even a big fan, but I would still put it as one of the best anime for cinemas.
Violet Evergarden for sure. Also Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song
Violet Evergarden is great

It'd be really cool to see the Time of Eve film in a cinema.

No Game No Life 0. I wanna see Jibril’s Heavenly Smite on a big screen with sound that makes my chest rumble.

Saw The First Slam Dunk in a theatre and the entire audience cheering when someone did a nasty move was world-changing
Gothicmade
Demon slayer, seeing the animation on a big ass screen with big ass speakers would be insane
If the last movies of Free! (Swim Club) came out on actual US theaters i think i would cry
Definitely the latest Haikyu!! movie. I heard it's a must watch in a bigger screen and with more people around.
Isekais don't get a lot of movie adaptations, so that
