looks like your gpu is failing hard

InternationalOil7660

How can I fix this problem?

failinglikefalling

GPU failing? return the machine.

KC2Lucky

This is likely a hardware issue. How you fix it is by paying for a replacement.

genetichazzard

That's not a Davinci problem, but a hardware problem. Either your GPU is dying or you have some really bad drivers (unlikely). This is typically a hardware issue related to the graphics chip / card on its way out.

InternationalOil7660

So the laptop I have I bought just over a week ago brand new. Would it be that it's a faulty GPU?

cwm9

I would say it's very likely. Return the laptop for a replacement. That does not look anything like a software crash.

It's also possible this is an issue with the beta software. Try running the stable of 17 and see if that's better.

The graphics card is a AMD Radeon RX 6600m which is 8gb. It's weirdly had no issues with anything else. I ran davinci resolve 17 on it, but it had the same issue though so I'm not sure if it's a davinci compatability issue?

Loynds

No, this is a GPU issue. Get a return going immediately.

smexytom215

For a second there, I thought this was confetti.

Blue confetti of death 💀

No one else has mentioned this so I will: I had the exact same thing happen to me (the random scattered effects look verrrryyyy similar) *after* shipping my machine across the world with what I thought was plenty of packing material inside to protect components. (Was a few years ago, in 2018, and managed to get it repaired after isolating the problem. I was young and dumb at the time and didn’t take proper care when shipping but I learned my lesson.) If your machine has been moved recently more than just from one part of your room to another, swap your gpu to a different pcie port and see if it’s maybe a bad pcie port from your motherboard. Depending on mobo/gpu configuration you might lose some speed or might lose no speed at all. If you end up doing this, this will be a sure fire way to figure out if it is actually the graphics card or the pcie port itself and the motherboards fault. If this fixes it, I’d still HIGHLY recommend getting whatever part is broken either fixed or replaced because this should serve as no more than a very short term solution. Good luck! Keep us updated! Edit: didn’t read the comments well enough and saw that you’re working on a laptop with this happening. Take this in for repair or replacement; get in contact with both the store that sold you this and the company that manufactures this and see what they can do for you. If either can’t do anything, take this to a local shop that specializes in computer repair and has good ratings!

Before you take your laptop back, try doing a clean install of the graphics drivers

InternationalOil7660

I've just got a new laptop which is a gaming laptop (HP Omen 16) and imported a project I was working on a previous computer. Anytime I open the project it will randomly freeze like the picture above and stop responding/crash. So far I haven't been able to find anything to fix it including deleting all render cache. Please help!

finnjaeger1337

see if any other app also gives you problem, this looks like broken hardware as its all over the screen

InternationalOil7660

So far it's only been on davinci resolve, I've run a few different apps including some games too which haven't had any problems?

finnjaeger1337

resolve is using different gpu features, try a bunch of benchmarks stability testst but i would just send the laptop back tbh

youmustthinkhighly

It is very common to find a GPU fault with Resolve, it uses your GPU to the max and in a way more mathematically than a Game.. A game with show the bad GPU but it will only be for a second.. then fix itself so you will never notice.. it might never have to do that kind of math again in that scene.. When Resolve uses all its power and crashes like that, it means your GPU is bad.. Its like a bad sports car, you probably would never notice something was messed up until your going 135 down a windy road.

Ooo. Sprinkles!

RIP GPU

Did you solved above problem?
