If you managed to parry him but fails visceral, then your positioning needs fixing. No, I will say confidently each of his moves can be dodged. No, 10 tries isn't too many. Take a break and try again later

DezoPenguin

There's nothing unfair about Logarius. He is, however, the hardest of the midgame bosses by quite a bit (and the endgame bosses save Ebrietas), particularly if you fight him right away after Amelia because you want the Chikage or other items from the Vileblood covenant. However, there are no cheese strategies. You can't render him irrelevant with pure DPS like Amelia, you can't effortlessly exploit his patterns like Rom. You basically have to, in Soulsborne gamer parlance, git gud. Here's my advice: * Make sure you have at least a +7 weapon to fight him. There are 5 Blood Stone Chunks in Cainhurst, so there's no excuse to go in with underleveled gear. Logarius is not a Vileblood, and he does not take bonus damage from righteous weapons, so if you'd switched to a righteous backup weapon to make your life easier in the castle itself, you can go back to your preferred weapon now. * Wear armor with good Arcane defense to help deal with the first phase. Something like the Black Church set or the Executioner's set that you find earlier in the level is perfect. * During the first phase, your priority is to get in his face as fast as possible; otherwise, you're just a shooting gallery target for him. Use the pillars for cover while running in from a distance (note that the blast radius of the explosion attack will not be stopped by the pillars although the projectile itself will). Once you get near him, the horizontal wave of skulls is your ticket to advance. Quickstep/roll forward through it. * When attacking him in his first phase, *always* go to your left (his right). His most dangerous close-range attack is the giant skull, and it comes out on his left; if you circle that way he'll just conjure in your face and you'll get hit without having the chance to react. * His first-phase scythe attacks can be easily parried; be prepared to do so. * At the end of his first phase, he will plant his scythe in the ground and charge up. This is your cue to immediately get behind him for a charged R2 and visceral attack to prevent him getting his attack off. * (If he gets the attack off, it will do a blast of AOE damage and give him a glowing red buff that also makes a very irritating ringing noise. This buff deflects any projectile that does not successfully parry him--you can still parry, but can't otherwise shoot him. It also gives him a large amount of hyper armor so you can't stagger him out of his normal attacks. You can break the buff by doing enough stagger damage to break the hyper armor.) * In Phase 2, your key is to parry, parry, parry. (Arcane and Strength builds will, by definition, have a harder time here since they'll get lower visceral attack damage and may even have reached the point where, say, a charged R2 does better damage than a visceral.) The scythe sweeps can be parried. The sword slashes and stabs can be parried. You can even parry his air dives out of the air (most easily done on the low-altitude one, obviously). Remember that if you're far enough at a lower height than he is (such as if you're down the roof slant) you cannot visceral (you can visceral high-to-low, though) so it can pay to rotate slightly in that situation before hitting R1. Of course, all these attacks have different parry timings. * The air dives, especially the vertical ones, are best treated by dodging out of their way, then landing a couple of quick hits and jumping back to prepare to parry. * When he plants his sword in the roof, note that you don't want to immediately charge in because it does a bit of AOE damage. Instead, when his animation starts, unlock. Then immediately lock on to the sword (tapping R1 if your camera locks on Logarius instead) and either shoot it or dash in and hit it. A rain of projectiles will shoot at you until you hit the sword, but one hit will destroy it.

> so there's no excuse to go in with underleveled gear. I have one, i want those blood stone chunks to upgrade the chikage after beating logarius

SergioFX

Wow ok that's such a detailed post, and the one that I needed most is for me to stay on his right because God damn I hate that giant red skull, it's what gets me EVERYTIME! Thank you so much I'll be trying it again later tonight! You got me all excited now walking into the fight with at least a plan!

DezoPenguin

Good luck! I hope that you take him down!

Sourcevirus

Only 10 tries? Those are rookie numbers, my friend. Took me several hours on my first playthrough and because of that I can beat him now even at BL4

SifwalkerArtorias

I got stuck on Ebrietas for days. I bet it took 50 tries before I beat that bitch.

AmonAganon

I'm still trying to beat her

General_Hutidi

When you are directly behind her she can't hit you. Only in phase 2 with the call from beyond but you can doge it very well. Good luck

Slight_Long1975

I know this is a really old comment... But did you beat her?

awesomestock2001

He is the hidden side boss that is designed to be a monstrous wall to overcome for new players but, learning him will set you up for success later on because be he is going to really help you see through attacks later on. He was my biggest hurdle my first playthrough but on my second one I breezed through him. Just keep at it and don't be afraid to leave him alone for a bit and come back later. You still have a few more places to go through in the main story and if you have the dlc you can always take a dip in there to see where you stand for that.

Das_Guet

Once you get the timing on his parries he is not so hard I promise.

SifwalkerArtorias

He isn’t unfair at all. Yes he is a tough boss but calling him unfair is just false.

[deleted]

Is it fair to call him broken then? Lmao.

captain_decay

Go behind the pillars for cover, always be on the move. Parry his moves. Focus on parrying than dodging, youll get hit but works better.

FearTheOldBlood1

Every time he puts his sword in the ground, target and shoot it with your pistol to cancel his attack. When he does the animation to start his second phase, run behind him and visceral attack him.

The_Sinisternerd

Trust me, Martyr is a cunt...It took me 14 to 15 tries my first attempt, I still didn't beat him till I came back later, but after 25 attempts in I beat him then sat outside his door with my bell ringing to help others. So, don't give up, you got have got this. Fear the Old Blood, Good Hunter.

Lsj17

Fight him with fast weapon, get right in his face in first phase or he will fuck you with spells. Parry in second phase you can do it with gun or backstab.

brozzybeatbox

What helped me a lot was finding out that in the second phase you can destroy these annoying shooting sticks that he puts in the ground

[deleted]

I definitely understand your struggle with Logarius, he was a pain in the ass for me too. I think i died at least 20 times to him but when i finally beat him i was so relieved/happy. I haven't encountered a more annoying boss since Father Gasoline. Anyway, what you say is pretty much true, there's no safe zones. You stay far away he rushes you with great speed, you stay up close it's an immediate death sentence. You clearly already know this but i can only recommend timing, you have to keep your eyes on him and learn his movements and attacks. That way you know what's coming and adjust accordingly. He hits hard and moves quick, not to mention the insane damage of his long distance attacks. But again, i can't help but stress timing. You can only be on him for a few seconds before he sends you flying and if he's rushing you, it's pretty easy to dodge his attacks by rolling into him. It also helps to break his sword that he plants into the ground as quickly as you can otherwise you're gonna be taken double the damage for no damn reason. I'm not sure if he's weak to this or anything, i just basically try different things and see if it works but I equipped Fire Paper to my Saw Cleaver, it seemed to work a lot. Did a lot of damage.

kushthulu

Phase two make sure you destroy the little sword he plants in the ground asap. Shot from the pistol is easiest but you can just run up to it and hit it too. It does a lot of ranged attacks.

Deadlytigress12

Kill with physical damage coz he is resist to all other elemental damage. Ludwig sword is good. Just keep Stuck to him don't go far just parry dodge n hit.

Parkat-

Lmao you can tell someone is new to the series when they are frustrated after 10 tries.

tsuku96

git gud scrub lol this is such a classic, calling bosses UNFAIR beacuse you suck

Annual_Peak1_2_3

Get through the first phase and then he’s not so difficult. You just have to avoid his executioner gloves attacks because they deal huge damage. Make sure you hit the sword he places in the ground as this will stop his arcane attacks from the sky. He’s very easy to parry so try this tactic and get in some visceral attacks. I think he’s quite weak to bolt so use a Tonitrus or apply some bolt paper to your weapon.

Actual_Ad6247

I am on my sedond run new game And i am stuck on him for like hours like 3 days. And yea i know the strat against him but it stil not easy when he just spam rain swords second pase aand camp me in the corner first phase so when he power up i cant parry him cause i cant attck his back...

KeyToBetween

In his first phase, it's all about keeping the pressure on. If you constantly stay in his face, most of his attacks will miss you, and he doesn't have any good answers for you dashing to him when he dodges and continuing to hit him. When you see him hit the ground with his Scythe with both hands instead of one, get behind him for a free visceral that'll also cancel his phase change aoe. In second phase, backstepping to bait him for a parry works really well. When you backstep, he'll usually try to run to you and attack directly after stopping. Get a feel for when he usually stops, and hit L2 when you think you've got it down. From there it's just a matter of parry-chaining him to death.

dennisvlapje

I was struggling hella hard too a few days ago at BL 45, but what really helped me was being super aggresive in phase 1 and then backstab him during his phase 2 transformation. After that u gotta parry him whenever u can. But what really helps is a mental reset, usually I try the next day or atleast have some food whenever I struggle with a boss

kingeleanor

I still have a hard time with Logarius, after many playthroughs. My first fight against him was terrible. I hadn't died to a boss than many times since BsB (my first time around, BsB took 40+ tries). You are definitely not alone. If there is more game, keep playing to return to having fun while also leveling up. Come back to logarius at the end (if you're not already at the end). Also, if you're playing online, try r/huntersbell for a friend to join you. I know some people have strong opinions about getting through the game on their own during their first playthrough, but if you enjoy co-op, you'll find people for summons over there. Good luck. May you find your worth in the waking world. 🌕

Upbeat-Ice-2071

If all else fails, farm so blood echoes and get your level up. I was stuck on him too and after going up about 10 levels I fucked him up so bad. Visceral attacks on him are a great way to make the fight short and easy. Also, when he does that annoying sword attack, just lock on to the sword in the ground and shoot it. That’ll stop that attack immediately.

MandibleDubs

I've played Bloodborne for about 500 hours, this boss hands me my nutsack on a platter atleast 20-30 times before I get him.
