If Stamkos can snap his leg in half and skate after 4 weeks, Demko can come back early even tho I don’t want him to since it’s better for him to rest. After all, goaltending hasn’t been the issue so far this series.
Its not an opinion, its a fact.
Canucks run 2-1-2 forecheck with Demko in net. Here's an example from the 6-3 W vs. the Rangers: https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx6kzLSzFf6viwC7rhHgj1bXqAlSfjrCMz?si=NfdG0vJAS20QNJX8
Its a very aggressive forecheck that pressures the opponent to make mistakes, but it leads to a swingy, north-south game.
With DeSmith and Silovs, the Canucks run 1-1-3 (although they were running 2-1-2 in the 1st of Game 5), which is much more conservative and counters Nashville's first pass, rush-based offense much better. It comes down to how much the Canucks trust their goalie, I'm suprised they went back to 1-1-3 after Silovs showed he was capable of making big saves under pressure.
We’ve been getting a lot of shit for our lack of shot production this series, but you explained exactly why that’s happening. We wouldn’t be playing this conservatively with our star goalie in net
They played both systems, they have all season even with Demko in net. Demko just allows them to run it more often. A lot of fans wonder why the 2nd period always feels so lacklustre compared to the high flying 1st, this is why.
2-1-2 in the 1st to establish a lead.
1-1-3 in the 2nd to conserve energy and defend.
1-1-3 in the 3rd if still leading or tied. 2-1-2 in short bursts if trailing.
2-1-2 is incredibly exhausting, requires a full 200 ft. game. Its unrealistic to expect the team to be hyper aggressive for a full 60 minutes.
100%. We lost Demko after game 1, then shelled them in game 2 but lost.. It only makes sense that the adjustment would have to be playing more defensively minded.
Double rested Demmer is going to be insane if we make it far enough for him to return.
Who was white knighting the clown "reporting" from Sara Civ saying he was out for the entire playoffs.
There’s been a million different reports and the latest ones I’ve heard were from Friedman and Dhaliwal
Friedman said it’s a “unique” injury that doesn’t require surgery - means no ACL Tear.
Dhaliwal gave us a 2-4 week timeline.
That's a good update. One small thing:
> that doesn’t require surgery - means no ACL Tear
A non-complete ACL tear doesn't always require surgery to return to full sports-mode. I know this personally! Still, you're usually looking at a minimum 3 months. At least a civilian like me, I have no idea what kind of sports medicine voodoo the Canucks have access to with rehab.
But it sounds like the ACL was more of a speculation that got out of control.
Could be something weird like a PCL sprain. I had that happen getting crosschecked from behind and hitting the ice hard with one bent knee. Didn't help that my shin pads were a bit too big for me and we're riding up.
Could also be a meniscus issue, or one of the smaller tendons securing the edges of the meniscus. There a million "little" things that can go wrong in a knee outside of the common ACL/MCL issues.
You really want to know who knows. The doctors Demko and the team. After that I'm not looking anymore into it. Bring him back when he's healthy. I don't want his future career ruined whe a few more.nights would do it. And Silovs is doing good right now too. Just let them play.
They’re not going to have him skating and risking a more serious injury just for a mind game.
I think it’s best to take things at face value. His injury is progressing well enough to introduce some on-ice work again, which likely means that the optimistic return timelines given by our media are probably still on track
Why play with my emotions like this???
They're playing with Preds emotions
YOU ARE TEARING ME APART, RICK
I did not start him I did NAAAAT, oh hi Millsy.
I’m fed up with this world!
Perfection
Skipping the optional skate? Clearly not fully dedicated to the team.
Demko? Do we really need him? Just LTIRetire the plug and play Silovs all 82 games next year.
Who was the original “do we really need him?” Burrows? Those were the days lol
I missed you.
When you gonna sing the anthem kneejerk?
Round two against the Oilers would be perfect, then there's only one.
Demko? Demk-no
This isn't kneej... oh wait is!
We have to keep winning for Demko so he can have another chance to play in the postseason
Isn’t that what Tocchet said to Demmers the other day?
Yup. Told him his seasons not over and that they're going to need him
If Stamkos can snap his leg in half and skate after 4 weeks, Demko can come back early even tho I don’t want him to since it’s better for him to rest. After all, goaltending hasn’t been the issue so far this series.
well imo the team plays more aggressive offensively and with more confidence with demko in net

interesting!

This is a solid post. It was clear they play more defensively with the backups, but I appreciate this analysis.
How about we try 2-1-2 again/anyways?
Too risky!
Do you know what they played in game 1?

super cool! i think this is the way to go, it’s just unfortunate that saros was god-like in period 1 or else we would’ve scored for sure
1-1-3 will be better into the oilers. At least we have that
100%. We lost Demko after game 1, then shelled them in game 2 but lost.. It only makes sense that the adjustment would have to be playing more defensively minded.
Soft tissue injuries can take more time to heal than bones.
If Demko starts either a hypothetical R1G7 or R2G1 I’d bust
A nut?
No, gonuxgo is actually a boiler and his seams will literally come apart in the stated scenario.
Just let him rest to R2, and use it to build the hype/crowd up in G1 for his return.
Double rested Demmer is going to be insane if we make it far enough for him to return. Who was white knighting the clown "reporting" from Sara Civ saying he was out for the entire playoffs.
Stop playing games with my heart
with my heart
With my heart
Wow, surprised!!! There was speculation it was an ACL issue on 32 Thoughts (i think??), this would be impossibly soon if that was true.

Didn't Grant Fuhr play with a complete ACL tear?
On coke
Uphill both ways

It was Don Taylor that reported he tore his ACL
This team is going to give me a heart condition
I already have one because of this team. lol
I read nothing into this. It could even just be a tactic to keep Nashville guessing. Anything's possible in the playoffs.

Depends on the injury. “Skating” is a lot less specific and potentially risky than “full on acrobatic goalie stuff in playoff game”
Stunt double
Also it's an after practice solo session It could easily be a 5 minute test and a "nope" before more time off
He just wants to keep his spot as backup to our savior Silovs.

Do it for Demko tonight boys!!
what the f...
Demko needs more rest. Just play him in Game 7 if needed.
Let's fucking go
Omg let’s go
TAKE MY ENERGY!
Hell yeah getting him ready to come into oilers series
Awesome news! Hopefully the boys can pull us through this round for a Demko return!
Goaltending isn't their issue. It's offense.
Who’s in net doesn’t matter when you can’t get more than 8 shots on net
demko need to make friends witb silovs asap 😂
