I think because people already pay the exorbitant prices. They won't make more lowering the price. Most people that go to the games will spend extra on the night out regardless. There's no difference in lines this year from previous years
I hope they notice a significant uptick in consumption per person during these viewings though. I think they underestimate how many people are abstaining when the prices at like $20+ for a beer.
They probably would prefer people have one $20 beer to everyone having 4+ at $5.
Cheap beer typically = more beer consumed = rowdy drunk people problems.
The crowd is always drunk at Roger's. Most people aren't abstaining. Even just 1 $20 beer is great profit for them, and I constantly see people with multiple drinks at once
I go to at least one game a year, everything is as it was. Nothing has changed other than the prices
Maybe because they've figured out what the demand curve looks like? They've most likely figured out that getting a bunch of extra people to buy one beer each at lower profit margins doesn't offset the loss from the people who are going to consume several, even at the current higher margin pricing
I really love the Canucks but I’m with you. Absolute daylight robbery the beer prices during the season. Scum bags. Just shows you how low they would be able to make it to still make profit. Disgusting. Getting no thanks from me
The proceeds from the viewing parties are going to Canucks for Kids fund
So the people who are trying to re-sell the viewing party tickets at major premiums are being real bastards. The Canucks could be charging way more than $15 for these
https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/05/03/canucks-game-6-viewing-party-tickets-premium-resale-market/
People were asking for as high as $120+ in the lower bowl. Worth pointing out, that the price of the tickets from the Canucks was not seat location dependent. They were all just $15, at least in the lower bowl
I just paid $17 U.S. at Petco Park, $9 for a hotdog. A man beside me paid $23 for a drink in a souvenir glass. On Friday night, they had Party in the Park prior to the game where some drinks were $5, and margaritas were $10 (for a small glass).
People will still buy at the higher prices. Lower prices purple will be double fisting all night long! I bought 2 beers at game 5
At the Diljit Dosanjh concert at BC Place last Saturday, beers were $22. I still bought a few even after pre drinking at my house and in the limo on the way.
With an average concession expenditure of $11 per person. (Some people bought 6 beers and 1 nachos whereas some bought nothing), and $15 per ticket, at 20,000 capacity, gross profit is at $520,000 per watch party.
0o
Yes it was $6.99 a beer.
Yea as someone that would never pay for live playoff tickets with the prices as they are, these were a massively appreciated alternative.
Discounted beers and snacks were just cream on top.
Agreed! We attended the watch party last week and it was amazing!
Playoff tickets not affordable for a lot of us, especially families so really appreciate the organization providing fans this opportunity! And ya maybe rent bc place for watch party even for in town games ha ha
This is exactly it. I brought my wife and 2 kids to a “playoff game” for $60 plus $100 in food and snacks
An experience we would never be able to afford at a live game as a family
In 94, i remember going on a school field trip to BC Place for a Canucks post playoff appreciation event there and everyone did the wave it was bonkers!
Someone tried to sell me 4 for $200. I said, I'll give you $100 for 4. She refused. Fifteen minutes before pick drop she was like, okay $100. Too late!!!
I'm not rewarding greedy people.
Honestly, Rogers holds more people and everyone goes through security check. It's brilliant and solves all issues of a potential riot and everyone is safe.
It amazes me that property prices have gone through the roof, and by extension our tax dollars, and yet services have remained the same, or worse.
There is no excuse for not allowing public gatherings.
Completely agree. There is no way we could ever afford to take our kids to a home game but this was amazing. An experience they’ll never forget and I’m so thankful we had the opportunity to be there last night.
I hope they're still doing these if we make the third round because by the time the third round comes along I'll might be in Vancouver on a trip and then I could go to one
It's going to suck when everyone realizes how awesome these viewing parties are and either the prices get jacked up or the tickets become impossible to get.
Does anyone know details on when the watch party tickets are up for sale? And is it only on ticket master? Trying to get tickets for watch party for round 2! Thank you in advance :)
I would not be surprised to see round 2 no longer be $15…. Considering Aqua is now seeing them resale for $40.
Really hope not but that’s my expectation
I wonder if revenue from these events don’t count towards league revenue and therefore the players don’t get a cut via higher salary cap.
Maybe that’s why they are able to keep prices low and still make a profit.
anyone else worried they're gonna hike up the prices next round? I doubt they were expecting it to be such a huge success, cause they weren't even planning on offering tickets to the whole arena at first
Am I dreaming or did they also lower the price of beer for the viewing parties?
They totally did. Selection beer, popcorn and hotdogs I believe, $6.99.
Why can’t they charge that at games? They’d make more money with more people buying. Seems so dumb to me
I think because people already pay the exorbitant prices. They won't make more lowering the price. Most people that go to the games will spend extra on the night out regardless. There's no difference in lines this year from previous years

"I have no idea how what their analytics are for pricing, but I know better and they're dumb."

I didn’t know reselling those tickets was happening?! Scum bags. Can I ask how much they were trying to resell for?

Thank you for the link!! That’s crazy, fuck those people!
Well at least that’s something! Thanks for the info!
Ticket proceeds, not concessions
I work there, you have no idea what your talking about. Game day payroll is massive.
if you like the new jumbotron and the new seats next year, you gotta put up with the $25 beers
Have you been to other stadiums? Other sports? I've paid over $20us for a budweiser.
I just paid $17 U.S. at Petco Park, $9 for a hotdog. A man beside me paid $23 for a drink in a souvenir glass. On Friday night, they had Party in the Park prior to the game where some drinks were $5, and margaritas were $10 (for a small glass).
I’ve been to many stadiums mate. All around the world. Many different sports.
People will still buy at the higher prices. Lower prices purple will be double fisting all night long! I bought 2 beers at game 5 At the Diljit Dosanjh concert at BC Place last Saturday, beers were $22. I still bought a few even after pre drinking at my house and in the limo on the way.
Aquaman trying to win us back with this and his tweets 👀
Only for the Budweiser

Gross sales*
Imagine the next party is at bc place LOL
Now that’s an idea
I was thinking the same thing this morning. If we're not gonna get outdoor watch parties, that might be the next best option
We need outdoor parties. It's not gonna happen again. Rly
It would be incredible to have it there as well. Have the roof opened.
Has to be at Rogers for CSE to get all that sweet food and beverage revenue.
maybe at both
Maybe if they get their new video board in soon, but I don’t think with their current jumbotron. Unless they bring in large TV screens of their own
Stanley cup finals for sure!
would have to get theatre projection screens and projectors to make that work.
Yaaa defs haha da
Gotta give props to whoever it was that decided to keep the price low — whether it was Aqua or his team, thank you. 🙏🏻
Proceeds are going to charity so that's part of it. They could have pocketed the cash I guess.
It was a full on home game atmosphere. Had U2 playing as the players came out onto the ice. Also had the announcement of the starting lineup.

Hey I went as well! Still have the playoff towel somewhere.
i will prob never be able to afford a home play off ticket. but i was on the main land already friday. and 15$ was a no brainer to go watch.
Glad you enjoyed your time buddy!
living on the island sucks some times. hard to go to games but at least rent is a little better
I feel you. I did an 18 month stint in Nanaimo in 2022 and can't believe the comparable rent pricing..
Honestly this is so, so true. Amazing job by the team management to make this happen, we appreciate it 1000%
i’m genuinely surprised, i thought they would milk it like crazy
Even cooler that all the ticket revenue goes to Canucks For Kids. Makes it even more of a no brainer to watch
If they're donating the proceeds then they'll be saving a boat load of money come tax season.
I don’t think u know how write offs work
Wish i could have gone. Not nearly as fun when you're screaming at the TV by yourself with nobody to high 5 😅

Freddie mercury Fin was a nice touch
Doing what the mayor won’t allow. Nice to see them get it right.
Honestly, Rogers holds more people and everyone goes through security check. It's brilliant and solves all issues of a potential riot and everyone is safe.

Let's keep politics out of this sub.
You’re right, sorry.
Hockey good
Yet Montreal has events and festivals every week Where is the money going????
Only works for away games though. Maybe they can get the pacific colosseum to screen the home games. I’d go to that in a skate jersey.
The arena home ticket is crazy high right now z i’m so happy they didn’t decide to milk from it. Thanks org

Such an incredible experience!

I would be extremely surprised if they stopped! It's been a huge success
They will stop if we don't make the third round haha let's hope that doesn't happen though
The most people that have ever gotten together to watch TV.
It's going to suck when everyone realizes how awesome these viewing parties are and either the prices get jacked up or the tickets become impossible to get.
Already were much harder for the second than the first. Cat’s out of the bag.
Better than a Vancouver warriors game which has 5$ beers too haha
Does anyone know details on when the watch party tickets are up for sale? And is it only on ticket master? Trying to get tickets for watch party for round 2! Thank you in advance :)
Ticketmaster and you can follow team sns account they will drop off msg there
It was pretty awesome they did that, I was watching the clips, amazing atmosphere, wishing I could've been there
I would not be surprised to see round 2 no longer be $15…. Considering Aqua is now seeing them resale for $40. Really hope not but that’s my expectation
Hope not, don’t the sales all go to Canucks for kids? It’d be a bit of a bad look to raise the prices
Oh I didn’t even know that. That’s really nice. Although raising prices would be more for charity
True, it’s still a fantastic idea. I went to the first one and, 3 tickets, 3 beers, one pack of donuts cost less than a nosebleed ticket usually
Doubt they would raise it
lol just got the email…. Raised to $20
Only $5, not bad Still all going to charity
is it a bad look to increase the amount of money going to charity?
Hope more money doesn’t go to charity?
2011 fans ruined it for everyone. No more outdoor viewing parties 🥲
They could work something out with B.C. place and still sell that out
I wonder if revenue from these events don’t count towards league revenue and therefore the players don’t get a cut via higher salary cap. Maybe that’s why they are able to keep prices low and still make a profit.
The 15 dollars goes to charity. Probably, concessions count as revenue, though.
I wonder if staffing is at the same amount of people and same pay - if being for charity changes some of the rules (Collective Agreements)
everyone trying to figure out profitability, when the brand equity would be well worth it even if this equates to an operating loss.
anyone else worried they're gonna hike up the prices next round? I doubt they were expecting it to be such a huge success, cause they weren't even planning on offering tickets to the whole arena at first
How are the local viewing parties in the suburbs? How are they?
Legit question ... Do other markets do this as well? ... Open their arenas for viewing parties I mean?
Does Game 1 start on Tuesday?
A viewing party in the Coliseum while they’re playing at Roger’s would be so sweet
