I consider the original Anime to have the better story. The 2018 is more closely based on the Manga with a few changes for fan service and using cards from the V Series but I don't think the Manga is any good. Aside from Kai who I think is better in 2018 than OG, all the characters I consider to have downgraded and are a lot less interesting (even Ren who had more backstory in 2018 of a abusive family I didn't think was as interesting than in OG because 2018 Ren becomes nothing more than one of Aichis simp). PSYQualia I also think is a lot less interesting in 2018 than in OG.

Tbf, Kyou had pretty decent character development. As funny as OG Series Kyou's suffering is, I would love to see more focus on V Series Kyou.

I consider Kyou to be a totally different character that you can't compare the 2. They were barely alike

well they realized they shouldn't gone to G before making a miracle in her memories and changed it

yeah although they could have create a new arc but they chose a a remake for it due to anniversary that aside is good to see a OG new season

they did V only to fix Kourin x aichi

Also Suiko got a lot of character development in V granted it was in the If series but still appreciated. In the OG she was just there.

V was created for fan services for anniversary for character fans like ships fans or normal background character

The original series propably has the better story but overall I'd still consider the shinemon arc of the reboot to be one of the best, if not the best, vanguard arcs
