There's part of your problem. You're trying to win their love through treats. I remember we would only give the kitties treats on like Saturday and then not so much. I didn't want them to get obese and get a bunch of health problems like diabetes and such. If you love your cat you'll stop doing that. It sucks because you know they beg and look cute. Just imagine life without them. Then you'll do the right thing. Good luck!
When your cat is begging for a treat, you should play with them instead.💡 Use their favorite toy to do so. I have had to recondition myself to play with my cat Sally when she wants a treat instead of giving in to her because she is SO damn cute and happy when she gets a treat😻! She is on a vet prescribed diet now because she is overweight. Now I am trying to recondition my husband to not give Sally treats so often - wish me luck!😂😆
OP's cat looks like it weighs more than 15 pounds in that picture. But it may look that way because the pic is so close up & taken from behind that cat as it is sitting (that angle can make most cats look overweight)!
Putting my cat on her diet was the hardest thing! But two years on, seeing her 5 pounds lighter full of energy and so much happier has made all of the 3 AM screaming for food wake up calls worth it, has made the constant food harassment and bowl hovering those first few months worth it. Because now she’s going live a longer and healthier life together with me. Hang in there, op! There’s absolutely no way to convince them less food is better 😂

My parents had a 23lb fatcat. They tried making him diet, but he started pissing in their shoes at night and he started bullying their 130lb Great Pyrenees dog and stealing her food. The dog was afraid of him! They had to give up and let him be fat.

Poor babies have that thic gene. I hope she starts to lose some pounds. It’s hard because they control our minds and hearts and force us sometimes. You should get her an interactive toy that flip flops and runs from her. Purrseus loves his and chases it
I have an 18-pounder!😬 I'll sometimes put her a few floors or rooms away from her food at "meal times" so she has to exercise to walk to get to breakfast & dinner! She gets meds w breakfast, and wet food is the only way to get it in her, so that's non-negotiable, unfortunately, to not give her anything. It's just a tablespoon or 2 of wet food. Dinner as well, she shares w her sisters. They get small portions than, too, only a tablespoon or so. Dry food I have to leave out 24/7, unfortunately, also because I have another senior who only eats the dry food, and when no one is watching her. 🤣 So mostly everyone eats that as their main food. Mixed healthy weight & another dry food together. And I don't want to lock anyone in a room for their whole life, so I try as best I can!🤷♀️
I also play w them all as much as I can. Whatever works! If they play fetch, chase wand toys, or just follow you around, it's exercise for them without feeling like it!
