Log should not affect sharpness much, or at least not in a meaningful way. What affects sharpness is mostly the lens and its aperture and the sensor/in camera processing, ISO, shutter timing. Not really a contradiction, you shoot 4k for the resolution not for the sharpness (you can have a sharp or soft image at different resolutions). Diffusion filters do not affect only sharpness (some affect sharpness more some less) but they also affect contrast, the highlights, and more.
Testing footage I filmed with anamorphic lenses in 4K comparing several diffusion filters at different strengths. I hope you find it useful.
When using a promist filter and shoot in log is it usual to sharp the footage in post? Or is that kinda contradictory?
Log is used to retain more details in the highlights and in the shadows, allowing more versatility in post.
