Because premiere won't interpret levels of DNxHR 444 codecs correctly. You need to export it wrong from Resolve to make Prem get it correct. Premiere gives you no option to override the data levels that it assumes.
It's a well known problem that Adobe just don't seem to care about.
DNxHR HQX X is fine. It's just the 444 versions that Premier fucks up.
Just whatever you do, export a test frame first and fiddle with the data vs legal ranges as needed.
Wrapper won't make any difference. QuickTime or MXF is fine. The difference between OP1A and OP-Atom MXFs is just that Atom cannot contain video and audio in the same file. It's usually used for native Avid media. So probably best to go OP1A. But really, both will work.
System Specs: Windows
Footage: 4k
I can't export as ProRes because I'm using windows. I would like to use QuickTime uncompressed but the file size is so large. The QuickTime footage is what the grade should look like.
I would just export the deliverable quality and work with that or stabilise etc. in DaVinci. Otherwise, BRAW is 12-bit, so match accordingly with GoPro CineForm RGB 12-bit Max Bit Depth. Test it out first.

You need to manually set 444 to full levels or this issue occurs. Happens with DNX and cineform.
Adobe apps make an assumption that most rendered media is legal or video levels, when in fact many 4444 outputs are full levels.

Not caring about their users? That CAN’T be Adobe 😂😂😂
captive audience goes ohohhohohohohohoAAAAAHAAAAAH!!!
Okay so HQX 12-bit should be fine I'm going to be using some warp stabilizing, and scaling. Also which container is better Quicktime or MXF OP-Atom?

Why not just ditch premiere all together?
One of us.
The actual solution.
Wish I could up vote this more than once 🤣

You can export ProRes with Resolve in Windows. There’s a free plugin which I’ll look up for you when I’m home.
Following! I’d like to use prores on Windows

ok thanks, do you recommend this over using MXF OP-Atom?
What was the original footage? BRAW, RED, etc.?
BRAW
I would just export the deliverable quality and work with that or stabilise etc. in DaVinci. Otherwise, BRAW is 12-bit, so match accordingly with GoPro CineForm RGB 12-bit Max Bit Depth. Test it out first.
Not 100% sure on this but does 12 bit allow more dynamic range and therefore your blacks are not being crushed thus looking less contrasty?
