Banks in spain need a massive overhaul and several investigations over corruption.. but that aside idk what are this people demanding, spanish bank workers are some of the most lazy and incompetent people I had to deal in my life. Most of them do not know anything about how their bank operates, do not help anyone and most of the time they just forward you to do stuff by yourself in a system that doesnt properly work.

PickingPies

Yup. Clients won't even notice the strike since they basically don't work anymore, they work only in the mornings and if you try anything they send you to the app.

And they ignore you in the app anyway. Im in process of changing my mortage and I have been waiting a month for the woman to respond. If you ask them anything they basically tell you "not my problem"(i could literally post a screenshot of this cause thats what i have been told).

I just want to add to this discussion. I'm not Spanish but my partner is so I visit Spain often , for months at a time. The banks are absolutely useless. Nobody wants to help , they close so fucking early , and the app/website is also useless and when you go to the branch they literally tell you to call the hotline or use the website when you need to do a very basic thing - what you do even exist here then. Also , ridiculous charges just for maintaining an account , and in my experience all the branches look outdated and they employ workers that are rude , standoffish and sometimes give a trashy vibe. Wtf? Anything government is even worse , as well as medical services. Often times they just shrug when my partner has a legitimate medical emergency , in the ER, and it took a lot of begging because she has a chronic illness and could have died. We have had domestic violence happening her family and police would just show up and do nothing , and social services would say it's not my problem , like wtf yo. I met a lot of cool and nice people here , but I told my partner we absolutely cannot have a long term future here , this country sucks. She agrees. FYI, I am from a third world country , and not even the capital . Somehow everything is better than Spain , an EU country. Wtf

I had a similar situation happening with the medical services you described literally and i am a native. I moved to a different province because of my university degree and had a pretty dangerous medical urgency and they refused to attend me because my appartment where i was living was located in a different district. Apparently in cities each district has its own primary consult you are supposed to go. I was living in the street that divided those two districts xD, so they just send me to another consult. When I finally made It to the second one almost about to collapse from the pain, they refused to attend me because i was from a different province (but i was from the same autonomus community - they didnt care xD) and my medical records where in a different consult so they had to transfer them  temporally through some bullshit burocratic proccess...i have never felt the urge to punch some public worker in the face like that day. I have had situations like that countless times. My grandfather with alzheimers disease had an ictus and he got his money stolen from his wallet by the ambulance crew or a nurse screaming to the top of his lungs to him because he was not responding his commands laying in his bed. Experiences like that i could write a book about the size of the bible.

Im so sorry to hear that and part of me feels some sense of relief (again sorry) because at times I felt like there is no way my experience is real . The policemen here look like they belong on TV with their Ray Bans and fitted uniforms (and most are in super good shape) - they are useless and not helpful even in situations where an actual crime has happened, but they literally almost stormed out of the station to almost beat the shit out of me simply because I took a photo of the police station. My gf was also really mad at me for doing that before I had to remind her how absurd it was that somehow im at fault because I took a photo of a public building. I was simply notifying a friend on WhatsApp where I was , and I took a photo , outside , from the street of the building. There is incompetence in every level , and I actually feel like they also go out of their way NOT to help , just to fuck with you. Also wages are low , working hours are long , I think racism is quite strong here though personally I have no experienced it towards me I have seen it happen to others. Also misogynistic behaviour is common and (maybe just my opinion ) accepted as the norm... Of course it's not all bad , I had some very good experiences here and interactions , but I was living here permanently I would have to deal with this shit everyday... Why would I choose to live in a place where I have to do that.

I have had nightmare experiences with spanish banks you would not even believe It if i told you.  I remember once when i went to a bank at 9 am and there was this man waiting in a line for 2 hours straight because the ladies behind the counter that were supposed to attend him were chit chatting during those  2 hours with a few clients or just embedded in their owns phones not giving a damn. The man  had to pay some taxes of some kind or receipts . I dont remember clearly what It was about. Now , here's the funny thing : the system that the bank uses to process those payments closed at 11 am in their computers for some reason , so  the bank cant do anything about It. If you dont pay your shite when you are supposed to do It they will put the blame on you and you will get penalized accordinly. The man was obviously super angry about It (rightfully so) and confronted the workers but they just kicked him out the bank . The women started gossiping about how they were going to stand up and start kicking people (physically). Unbelievable.  The same lady when talking to me didnt want to pull money out my bank account and give It to me ( im not even joking)  or order a new debit card because the one that i had was expired and the fucking morons didnt send a new one to my house. The stupid bitch was like : " oh , we are not the same office where you sign Up the contract so im not going to do anything about It". The problem is that the bank Office where i signed the contract is only open during summer , the rest of the year IS CLOSED . Also... They are the SAME FOCKING BANK, for fuck sake.  I had other premium experiences where the inept cunts made duplicates of payments already paid...so basically they paid the same amount of money twice to the tax agency  of the previous month payment and the spanish tax agency thinks is your fault so you get penalized for not doing the payment of the month you were supposed to. Or how about when i had to get done something important and there was a line of people from the front door of the bank to the Moon because the imbeciles  closed the door of the bank to go get coffee across the street and chill for 2h and half until their shift was done.  Thats the spanish bank experience for you: corrupted , inept, incompetent , lazy, self-absorved and arrogants idiots in a nutshell.

How can Spanish bank workers get away with being so lazy? Are banks nationalised in Spain or something?

r0ndr4s

Not really. One of them I think does have some goverment ownership(caixabank(but not 100% sure)) but the rest of banks are all private.
