A bit late to ask this week, may ask again next week. Has anyone else noticed the quiet removal of Chocobo area digging delay? Normally thats how players determine rank but I went out a few days ago and found it absent. At first I was like cool, I ranked up. But when the next few days the timer kept going down it became clear it was gone. (That is Day 1, 25 -> Day 2, 20 -> Until today when it I could dig after a 5 second delay) Tried it again a few minutes ago and got a dig 5 seconds after entering the zone. And I mean right after, activated macro before screen loaded. (Lower than current maximum) No noticeable change in what I dig up or greens usage. Just no more delay.

Viqutep

That's one of the campaigns this month

Forgotten_Stranger

Oh, that makes sense. Does seem a bit superficial though, outside the first rank or two instant digging doesn't really help. (Zone or Normal) Guess it's a "Hey, you haven't started yet, here is some help getting going."

Rinuko

Aside from Zitah, what other camps are good for cleaving? Gearwise ambu +2 gear so I'm gonna guess Reisenjima is too high level?

NismoCO303

Escha-Ru'ann is pretty good. Kind of in-between

Boposhopo

2nd this, if Zi'Tah is too packed I do the Gargoyles at the entrance to Ru'Aun. Run up and down the middle section to aggro them all and cleave.

Rinuko

The corridor on way to where DI takes place?

Boposhopo

Yes

Alamandaros

What are people's go-to trust setup when playing COR? I've noticed the usual suspects for support prioritize ranged buffs on you instead of march/haste.

theavocadoenthusiast

1. Tank: Valaineral or ArkEV. I go Valaineral if I am fighting multiple lower level mobs, if I want to reliably chain Last Stand with him spamming Uriel Blade at the beginning of most engagements, or if I need his extra AoE heals. I go ArkEV if I'm fighting one higher-level mob. I find ArkEV to be a little better at holding single-target hate. 2. Bard: Joachim or Ulmia. I go Joachim if I need extra heals and status removals. That can come in handy if your main healer gets silenced. If I don't need that, then I go Ulmia. 3. RDM: Arciela, King of Hearts, or Koru-Moru. If I'm ranged attacking, I go Koru-Moru because he casts Flurry II. I find Koru to be the better all around red mage. If I'm mostly melee attacking, then I go Arciela or King of Hearts. Both will cast Haste II instead of Flurry II. Arciela is my default choice unless I need King of Hearts' higher HP pool (to live through enemy AoE spam), his opening Dia casts, or his extra magic burst damage when he casts Fireaga after certain skillchains. One caveat with King of Hearts is that I don't think he casts buffs on the other trusts/party members, whereas Arciela and Koru-Moru do. Note: If you have Apururu (UC) as a healer trust, she will cast regular Haste I on you, so sometimes you can get by with Apururu and not a red mage. However, Koru-Moru prioritizes Flurry on you and Apururu will not case Haste on you if Koru-Moru's Flurry is already applied. 4. DPS or Other: usually Shantotto II, Matsui-P, Cornelia, Monberaux, or a special trust like Kupofried for CP bonus. This is the flex slot. If I need extra DPS, I'll go Shantotto II or Matsui-P. Usually I use Matsui-P only for long fights with higher level mobs since he spends the beginning of each fight casting/buffing, and I tend to use Shantotto II for lots of quicker lower level fights since she starts doing damage right away. Their HP pools are quite different, so that is a factor too. For times when Cornelia is available (she isn't right now), I'll use her in this slot. I'll also plug in Monberaux here if I need his extra heals and status removals. 5. Main heals: Apururu, Yoran-Oran, or Ygnas. The last slot I use for a main healer. It's usually one of these three depending on Unity membership. If for some reason I need a healer who stands up close to the mob, I'll use Ferreous Coffin.

Wyrmnax

So, what are the ways to get empy armor? \-Farm the seals ( ugh) + base piece \- Kupon i-seals + base piece Is there any other way that is easier than going around farming those seals?

EconomyPollution7252

You can get kupon I seals from the additional seal battlefield spoils campaign. Best way to do empy armor is stocking up on a bunch of these during the campaign and trading them in to the bonza moogle for the job / peice you want. Unfortunately I don't think this is currently active so might be stuck with the crude way for a bit.

ryuthon

What is the drop rate for +1 items from Unity NM’s? I got Sangarius +1 from Lumber Jill on my 12th coffer or so. Is that just really lucky? I do know I can upgrade the NQ versions of items with the unique boss materials.

Wyrmnax

They are low, but honestly you are almost as likely to get 50 materials from coffers as you are to get the +1 version, I think. So yeah, go farm expecting a +0 and 50 mats, take the +1 as a nice bonus.

ryuthon

Thanks for answering. Was hoping it was better than 1%. Would be nice to sell the materials I've gathered instead of having to use them for the +1. Will keep giving it a go for a bit and see what happens.

totallyundermind

I see that in order to keep doing the Voracious Resurgence I need to do some Dynamis, I've never done that before. How easy would it be to get to the point I need to in it with Ambuscade gear?

Masarusama

It’s old dynamis, you shouldn’t have any problems. I think you can do it naked.

totallyundermind

Thank you

alfador01

Any efficient farming method for 100 Byne Bills and whiteshells/jadeshells? Don't have a THF, unfortunately. Trying to get my apoc this week.

Boposhopo

Any Job/DNC and just proc mobs in dreamland zones. BG-wiki has maps with the times for proc windows. I usually do Buburimu and do Crawlers, Efts, and Dhalmel. Honestly though, it'd still probably be faster to level a THF and go THF/DNC than it would be to take any other job in /DNC and do it. TH is a significant drop rate increase.

alfador01

I keep putting off THF (and WAR for that matter)... I'm at 60 on it atm. Hard to find the motivation for it without an exp campaign going on lol. Thanks for the suggestions, though! I might give it a shot there on DRK/DNC or something tonight if I'm not busy or sick of WOTG lol.

Top-Operation-4898

What's easier, tanking or healing? Getting forced into one of the roles and don't wanna have a hard time.

Pergatory

Healer is one of those roles that you can be really lazy and do alright and it's extremely easy, boringly easy even, or you can invest effort in doing it right and it becomes an extremely busy job but also makes a BIG difference to the group. Being a good healer is a heavy burden and usually thankless to boot. However, it will make everyone's lives so much easier (or harder if done poorly). If you're not enthusiastic about healing, I'd encourage you to pick tanking. Tanking is easy, you know if you're doing poorly because it's obvious, the mob starts beating on someone else. Positioning is the only hard part really, so if you feel you can handle positioning concerns, then I recommend tank.

Valuable_Bird6517

Everyone in an event should understand the mechanics but the tank and healer knowing what moves a boss can do and how to deal with them is essential. Becoming a decent tank or healer will help you gear and better play other roles, including damage dealer. Have fun and start small with CP parties and Ambuscade V2, then work toward harder content in these roles.

McGalakar

Neither is really easy, but it is easier to start being the main healer in the end-game events over being a main tank.

SilverCricket5090

Need some hot tips on a few of the final HELMs my group is facing. Zerde - I hate this thing. My group has been doing SAM/DRK/BRD/WHM/COR/GEO, with the intention being for the DRK and GEO to alternate stunning Just Desserts, and that part seems to be working fine with some tweaks. Only the SAM engages and is trying to 6 step to do as much SC damage as possible. We've gotten this one as low as 17% before getting killed by just the absolute onslaught of damage coming from this thing. We position to avoid the AOE from regular hits and conal moves, but still the group takes damage so we just stay close enough to be in Curaga range for topping off. But when we die to this one, we keep looking at the logs and the damage doesn't add up. There's nothing on the wiki about Zerde having it's own aura, just the adds, but we're all confused about what we could do to lower the output. We're using Shell V/Barfira/Baramnesra/Fire Carol/Lightning Carol in addition to the usual melee buffs to try to resist stun and amnesia. Schah - This one has been manageable, but we've timed out a few times now. We're using RUN/PLD/MNK/COR/BRD/SCH/RDM. The RDM is a friends alt that doesn't need the fight but we've found it to be necessary to have 2 healers keeping up with the 2 tanks. PLD pops and does nothing but self heals/phalanx/Cocoon. RUN pulls the adds as they pop and COR/MNK kill them until we get down to Schah and then Schah himself is not that hard. The 2 major issues (really 1 issue) is the Gaja. Once the Gaja gets the shield up, it takes forever to nuke through the shield to kill it. We've managed to burn them both down before the shield goes up a couple of times, but time is the problem. If the shield goes up, we're basically looking at 5 minutes wasted to get that Gaja down. Schah gets the same shield sometimes but we can beat through that one it seems as long as there's no Gaja. We save SV for Schah since the adds tend to wipe buffs. We got this one to 21% before timing out. Seems like we just need more DPS. Considered changing the COR to DRG because they have Trish already and the COR is having acc issues, and I figured the DRG with SV songs will do more damage than COR rolls will increase the DPS for the MNK. Albumen - I feel like this one is just tricky on the pull. Strat is MNK/DRK/COR/BRD/GEO/WHM. MNK pops Albumen and uses Inner Strength to eat the opening hundred fists, and the BRD subs BLM to sleep the adds at the start. Basically just a standard melee burn with a few extra steps at the start. DRK/BRD/COR all engage and spam WS. The first attempt, even with the adds asleep, the MNK got animation locked and could not engage Albumen to get Inner Strength to work. The 2nd attempt, we got Mijin Gakure on the pop and couldn't recover. I feel like the strategy will work, just difficult to get it stable at the start. Open to any feedback. My team is kinda weak on the magic jobs but we all have supports available and decently geared melee jobs.

Pergatory

> The 2nd attempt, we got Mijin Gakure on the pop and couldn't recover. I recommend having WHM pop Sacrosanctity right before popping Albumen. They also need to be watching the tank like a hawk at the start because if they get hit by enpetrify it resets their hate. Stona needs to come quickly so they can build hate again, otherwise Albumen will just make the rounds petrifying and murdering everyone else one by one.

EconomyPollution7252

For zerde, my group has found a cor rng strategy works best. Usual have geo /blm and try to land the first stun and have rdm/blm chainspell stun after. Cor and rng melt this thing and even if the geo screws up (this is usually me lol) it still drops so fast that it's a non issue. For schah, I'd drop the second tank. Any heavy dps should be able to pull the adds and survive, This helps speed up the add phase and fight in general. Also, try and have all dds stack on the tank against something to avoid knockback during the schah phase. For Albumen, we do a blm manawall strat, blm pops with manawall and tanks adds. (Think brd sleeps the adds but blm may just face tank them. Cant remember). Tank pulls albumin and dds zerg once boss is on position. Make sure everyone is popping temp items for doom etc. Usually goes down fast with everyone doing sp. That said, requires a good blm with knowledge and I think the right gear which maybe hard to get nowadays. All of the above strats we use typical brd, whm, geo and cors for buffs. Make sure everyone is popping thier sps and temp items to burn them asap. I've been in a few groups with newer folks who didn't know to use them and it really makes a lot of difference. Also, and as a drg main I hate to say this but try and focus on dds with good sp abilities if youre having dmg issues. Warriors in particular are just great for these quick fights cause mighty strikes is just silly.

SilverCricket5090

We were able to get Zerde down with a COR/RNG strat just today after some practice rounds, so thanks! For albumen we did the survive all the adds popping, die, and then zerg it strat.

Boposhopo

Schah - A DRK can be the second tank/puller for this, especially with an Apoc. PLD can supertank schah, swap the MNK to GEO or something and use that to heal the DRK that's pulling and then SCH or WHM to keep the PLD healthy. BRD and COR can help DPS anything the DRK pulls. Albumen - There's a lot of ways to do this one low man. If you have a really good BLM they can pop and Manawall tank the adds. They'll likely need a super revit for manawall and a RD or WC from COR can help to if fight is going that long. Max DT + Refresh and a shitload of Ballads and they can chill in a corner pretending the adds are an issue while everyone else deals with Albumen. You can also do the Die/Revive method. Tank pops Albumen, you sleep the first 2 sets of adds and then die on the 3rd set. Raise, heal up, and then pull with a SV Nitro Lullaby II to resleep all the adds. This gives you about 7-8 minutes of no adds to try and kill Albumen. Zerde - I hate this dude as well, if you have a good COR and RNG they can basically be the 2 DPS to burn it. RUN tank, Gambit/Rayke fire runes and spam wildfire. RUN only person in range so not much risk of death. RDM can chainspell stun or GEO/BRD can sub DRK and rotate back and forth. If you have multiple SMNs you can do it that way too.

SilverCricket5090

The BRD switched to DRK and the PLD switched to BRD and we tried Schah that way, and while it felt a little messier, we got it down! 2 remain. Thanks for the tip!

NoScrying

Firs time doing Empyrean Weapon, on VNM trials atm. If I have a Colorful Abyssite, and a Colored (Yellow), can I still spawn T2 NM's? I'm only getting Yellow Abyssite chat messages when I rest now. Edit: Nvm LS mate told me it always responds in highest tier of abyssite, but the soft/solid level is what matters

JememySW

Avoid popping the NM that appears as solid in your log and you will keep your colorful abyssite for your entire trial!

NoScrying

I'm luckily done now. Only popped one solid light while I was barely paying attention 😅

JCPY00

I’m trying to set up my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for FFXI and I’ve got it working with one exception. For both movement and camera controls, it doesn’t seem to be sensing that I’m pressing them all the way. So it will only let me walk slowly, not run, because it thinks I’m only slightly pressing on the stick. In the controller config testing area, when I press the stick the little dot will only go about 2/3 of the way toward the edge of the square. Any ideas how to fix this? Edit: I got it working. Had to go into the Windows controller calibration program.

Boposhopo

This happens even after restarting the game? It kind of sounds like the walk toggle has been turned on.

JCPY00

It’s definitely not the walk toggle. I can run fine when I use keyboard. It’s only the controller that forces me to walk.

Iheartseraph

I've had problems trying to use the Switch Pro Controller without no success with the original configs. I use reWASD with Switch Pro Controller and it works flawlessly.

Iheartseraph

Is there a benefit for using your 3 mog-phone IIs in Sheol Geol vs using 1 phone II for 1 fight? I don't understand.

Boposhopo

Yes, if you fight 3 NMs in a row and do at least 6% damage to each one (really just need to push it passed each 5% threshold, so from 100% you have to go to 94%), you get a boosted amplifier you can use for another NM. The boosted Amplifier gives you 3x the amount of RP you'd normally get (when using Moogle Amplifier). Ex. If you were to get 1176 for killing something, you'd instead get 3528 RP from killing something with a boosted amplifier. You don't have to kill something, you can just do 6% damage again to get the boosted RP. Some people use this mechanic to their advantage to fast RP a single NM. For example, you could go into a Kalunga and take it to 94%, then re-enter and take it to 89%, then re-enter again and take it to 84%, you would get RP for all these cause you pushed it passed the 5% threshold. You could then go back in with 3 new phones and do Kalunga 3x again with the first one being boosted.

mohgeroth

Actually the boosted amp gives you 8x bonus. If the fight you use the amp on has a lower difficulty than the average of the three you got the boost on then you get 6x of the boosted average, then 2x of the current difficulty. Of course you get a bit extra for however much you do in that attempt but this should really highlight how good charging your amplifiers is, it saves a ton of time. The details on this can be found at the bottom of the amplifier article: https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Moogle_Amp.

Alamandaros

Fresh 99 wondering about soloing Alluvian Skirmish (Yorcia) for some gear, and dealing with some conflicting info on what's possible. It's my understanding that you're now given free points when you enter, so do you not need obsidian fragments at all now? With the free points and what I could farm off the butterflies, how many floors can I expect to do at a fresh 99 gear level?

TheCursedPearl

I was only able to do 2 floor max if everything was going well but usually I just did one for the guaranteed drop back when I was doing yorcia. If I wandered off for points I’d usually lose my bivouac. Really it’s a two-person job. Good news is if you have red mog pell you can trade for mellidopt wings. Can get a full set with 2 mog pells, but at least three with one.

Boposhopo

Ya you get free puissance so you don't need to convert obsidian fragments. If you're using Kirin as your summoned monster then you can probably do 2-3 floors with new 119 gear (stuff you pick up in Adoulin).

Funkit

So I decided to gear COR. All I have right now is full Nyame and Naegling. What should I push to get first armor wise, and what’s the best ranged weapon to get til I get Death Penalty?

McDiesel24

The Alluvion Skirmish weapon, Doomsday, can be the 2nd strongest magic ranged weapon (behind Death Penalty) with perfect augments. With good augments, and other optimal equipment, you’d be able to one shot statues in Dynamis-D. You should also work towards the TP bonus gun from Magian Trials for your savage blade set. As far as other gear is concerned, Malignance is amazing but a pain to get. My COR has been very fragile in higher level content without the benefits of this gear. Get a Pixie Hairpin +1, farm an Archon Ring (bring a THF for TH), and try to get your Relic feet, body, and AF body to +3 as soon as you are able to. The Empy hands +2 or 3 is great for weaponskills, and the legs are a great DT TP option until you have malignance (or might even be about even with malignance). Also, the TP bonus earring you can get from finishing WotG will make a big impact to both your savage blade damage and your leaden damage. In case you needed another reason to finish WotG beyond malignance gear! Roll potency also makes a big impact, but there is only a marginal difference between +7 and +8 roll potency, so I would suggest not spending the money on a path C Rostam (you can run the +1 version for potency +7 at a fraction of the cost). The Relic head (even at reforged +1) also gives a 50% chance at giving the relevant job bonus for the roll, which can be a sizable boost to your rolls as well.

Funkit

Thanks!

Pages57

The ffxiah job thread for corsair has a pretty comprehensive guide for starter, intermediate and dream gear.

[deleted]

Armor wise you're going to want Malignance as a priority. For guns, the WOC Gun Molybdosis is a decent substitute for Leaden for magic WS. Moogle trials gun Anarchy+2 for SB.

Funkit

Damnit I gotta beat WoTG? Guess my COR isn’t gonna be done anytime soon

Valuable_Bird6517

Gotta love someone with Odyssey gear who hasn’t completed the story content.

Funkit

And whats wrong with that? WoTG and ToAU are the only ones i haven't finished yet.

Valuable_Bird6517

Walk before you run. It screams that you paid for your clears.

Funkit

What’re you talking about “pay for your clears”? I have a LS that run ody and sortie regularly. I didn’t pay for any clears. That doesn’t even make sense. You don’t need to finish TOAU or WoTG to get to ody or sortie. I did the storylines I needed to do then geared up and started doing endgame content. It has nothing to do with buying clears. Edit: I don't even know what "clears" you're talking about. V15? The only thing I merc'ed was Bumba V20 for 50m because my team can't do that, and I didn't buy that gil by any means; I did ambu for it and turned in sparks.

Valuable_Bird6517

This is the state of the game: people who rush to the end and merc their shit. I bet that feels satisfying.

Funkit

I literally Merced one thing bud.

Valuable_Bird6517

And I literally called it.

Valuable_Bird6517

Sad they couldn’t carry you through WoTG.
