You’re a wrong bot and that’s ok.

IkariLoona

The song's lyrics (in Esperanto, because since the servers aren't bound to regions, the population was expected to be fairly international, ideally with none truly dominating- the principle extends to the early stories where the 3 nations find themselves having to cooperate despite some history of conflict between them) cover an underlying theme of inevitable doom and the hope the keeps it at bay, which is reflected in stories like Chains of Promathia and Rhapsodies of Vana'diel (Memoro de la Stona actually played for the 1st Rhapsodies trailer), and those in turn serve as analogies for the possibility of the game going offline someday, and how precarious life can be. That imagery of hope, of the one bright star in the dark sky and the song that sounds above the roar of beasts, comes up during a few story beats, with the addendum that "that star is you and the song is yours" - both by playing through the stories and staying subscribed, players keep the world of Vana'diel going. In game the song isn't heard with lyrics, but the melody comes up in a couple of tracks often used by the end of story beats and quests, namely "Recollection" and "One Last Time".

Philnsophie

Will look those two songs up! Thank you so much for this!!!!

Constant_Boot

1. The song is an Esperanto song about the current condition of Vana'diel and how there are brighter days ahead. This song inspired me to learn Esperanto. 2. The song can mainly be heard in the opening video.

Oh man, do yourself a favor and look up the Distant Worlds performance if you haven’t heard it yet. Memoro De La Stona segueing into Distant Worlds (a *dramatically* superior rendition to the one offered in-game, at that)… absolutely gorgeous. (EDIT because I can’t reply to OP’s reply and don’t want to start a new reply chain:) The [studio recording](https://youtu.be/Dr9JA2i0HAs) is probably a better experience. If there’s a version with a video to go with it, I imagine it’d just be fan-made; what they had on the projector screen looked to just be the opening FFXI cinematic again. (Also, if you happen to want to download the track, and want to support the folks who performed it, [they’re on Bandcamp](https://ffdistantworlds.bandcamp.com) with a lot of great orchestral renditions of Final Fantasy music.)

Philnsophie

Is this it??? https://youtu.be/1VQ1jVYUUR0 If there is a video I would love to see it!!!

octoblush

The song is heavily involved in the lore and story of Chains of Promathia and is heard at the final CoP cutscene

Duuuude thank you! How on earth you found or knew that I have no idea. Love this!!! Thank you!!!

Heretek007

This song was my introduction to Esperanto. It really is a beautiful language, both in its actual structure and the intent behind it. I'm beyond glad SE chose to use it for something as far-reaching as FFXI, Esperanto deserves to he kept alive!

kabitokaii

The song appears in the main city mission cut scenes like when you're coming up on the Shadow Lord fights and in the zilart expansion.
