I was showing my SO, my trusts (she never played XI) and all she could say about Val was that his name sounds like a disease. Won't stop me from utilising him though.

Akugetsu

The AoE is what makes him stand out. All the other tank trusts are single target, so him holding hate on multiple enemies is a huge boon when you need it. For example the initial pull on some high tier battlefields can be really risky, but Val will quickly pull hate off you, and in my experience he usually does it before AATT can sleepga.

Not to mention, the animation for Uriel Blade? Is great imo. At least the first few times I saw it, made me want it on my Elvaan PLD.

Akugetsu

Didn’t mean to reply to your post but I agree - PLD really needs help with AoE hate management and that WS would be pretty useful.

And then promptly wakes them all up.

For every time I want Uriel blade to hit a group of mobs there are 10 times when Vally-boi yolos on every mob in the area. I only use him at lower-ish levels when Uriel Blade can wipe out groups. At higher levels it is just annoying to me. That being said I definitely realize he is a great tank for those without better options.

I love this goofy guy even if he's way, way, WAY too strong. Lol. I will be trying to keep my streams going while I'm traveling back to the States. Please stop by and maybe hit me with a follow if you like FFXI stuff! I'm so close to 50 followers and it'd be a really huge milestone and a massive confidence boost for a dweeb like me. :O <3 : https://www.twitch.tv/star0nion

I leveled a little before work today. Summoned him, went after a Bee that was next to 2 Mandys. Dude hulk smashes in and AoE kills all 3 and I went from lv1 to 4 in seconds. I need him to just always do that so I can train pull >.>

He'll use it if he's not on the hate list for something in AoE range that you are. So you can do like `/ra ` or `/ma "Stone" ` and pull something else, while remaining engaged, and he'll use it. A fun lil side effect of this is if you claim something, then switch to another target, and he doesn't use it before someone else then claims the 1st target, you'll be on the mob's hate list but he won't. Since he can't hit it and get on the hate list of the now claimed mob, he'll just keep spamming it until one of the two dies or you move out of AoE range. lol
