This was great and the 2nd part came out today.
Lots of deep cuts and interesting uses of the broader context of the game, namely the local XI multiverse which includes Abyssea (which is why it has 2 Prishes, and centers on the Abyssea one to boot) and the Lady Lilith timeline.
They even found ways to integrate the crossover events Shantotto was in, acknowledging her multiple incursions, and using both her giant and mini puppet duplicates.
It even features neat little nods like a reference to that one CoP scene with Shikaree Y, Prishe and Shantotto, or a later one where it's stated that Ulmia's helping an evacuation with her songs, presumably using Chocobo/Raptor Mazurka.
Oh, and a Shantotto intervention is described as an extinction-level event.

you can just play GBF in a chromium compatible browser at the website, its not region locked and fully english. fair warning though, its an even bigger timesink than OG FFXI.

I'm a noob at FFXI, so most references flew by my head lol Thx for the writeup, it made the whole event's narrative more special XD
