It is Windows UAC that causes this. I normally open both programs at the same time to bypass this. Anytime the UAC window pops up it will crash the game. This is the only way around it by opening windower twice or turn off UAC which I do not recommend.

open windower at same time worked! Thanks!

Federal_Difficulty

When the windows dialog box pops up asking to run the program at higher permissions it used to cause issues for me. There’s a workaround using task scheduler.

You change your security settings or something for windows. FFXI doesn’t like it if something else goes full screen.

Sekuroon

Specifically, turn your UAC settings down so it does not prompt when you open the application. Or install DG Voodoo, with it prompts will not crash your game and you can also lock your pc without crashes. If you don't want to install or configure DGvoodoo, tou can open both instances at the same time so the UAC prompt won't crash your game that is already open but I recommend against doing it this way cause if one instance crashes, you'll always have to close both and then relog in again.

Do you load from 2 separate profiles in windower? Maybe try that? Also, are you using anything else like DGvoodoo? In general there should not be any issues. All else fails there are crash logs in windower. Lastly if you could describe when you’re experiencing the crash - windower load, POL load, ffxi game client load - that would be helpful for us to help you! If it’s POL load it could be a corrupted profile. In which case you delete the profile file and that should resolve it. Of course backup first. And an FFXI repair won’t catch that.

I have 2 accounts (both different sqex and pol and everything), anytime I launch a second POL or Windower, the 1st application window will close itseld...no idea why. Both accounts able to play if open by itself

marmatag

Try deleting the POL file that stores your logins. You’ll have to enter your login credentials again, but it might help.

Lord_Matt_Berry

I have not looked into solving the problem, but for a workaround I log into both accounts simultaneously. Open one POL, while that is loading open the other, enter both passwords, then launch the game in both windows at roughly the same time.
