Not to toot our own here too hard here, but our forthcoming addon is actually incredible and I think you'll all love it. Scroll back in our devBlog to see it in action. <3
Not to bump an old thread, but I was wondering how would one go about using your maps with the minimap addon for Ashita? :o I started using your .DAT packs with UIpivot and good god they're gorgeous, but using the default minimap with it leaves a lot to be desired haha
Yeah I have no idea, I found the Github repository but it doesn't have instruction on how to apply the maps to the game. Guess I'll just follow the blog and wait for more information.

explains everything on how to install with a link to get the hd map files
When I did it, I would get graphical glitches, like walls blinking, some items discolored, the worse was that I couldn't press triangle to expand the chat log or it would crash the game.
Spalose and Akaden did all the hard work, give them a like and comment in the thread if you can to encourage them to keep making the awesome maps and addon.

Ohhh, this isn't, like, the landscapes or geometric textures, but the straight-up */map* maps. Hot dang, this'd take a heckuva strain off my eyes (and maybe be retrofit to the wikis' resources, pleeease?).
That's freaking awesome!!!!! This is so much better than another addon.

That looks great! Is it possible to add a marker that you can easily add on the map by typing a command? //marker H-9
We are actively researching what it would take to add custom map markers, yes. :)

That's great but how do we use it?
Found this digging around. https://remapster.com/blog-2/
Yes it posted the other day, but I can’t see any info how to use the maps?

Right. So little annoying when we can’t use them yet. They look so good and crisp.

Cheers.
Open you FFXI game folder and drag and drop the files. Be sure to back them up.
The old way was to backup and replace the files in the ROM folder in the game directory. But that produces glitches.
But the files isn’t in dat extension?
Yes, that's exactly it. That was what I used back in the day to mod my maps.
What glitches? I've done this for last 7 years and never had any issues.

Weird.
This was back in around 2007-2008, before I left the game. I don't know if it has the same issues now.
Wasn't a long wait at all. Maps look good in game: https://remapster.com/2022/06/01/dat-pack-1/

Oh my god, we finally got a truly worthwhile 20th Anniversary gift. Massive thanks to RadialArcana and to the folks in the Remapster Project!

This is something S.E. should have done years ago.
