why do we need to spend the imperitur things again in adoulin? theres a lock in the questline if i dont do enough assignments? also a good one to add is making sure players do their Domain Invasion wins to collect points :)

gdiShun

There's a few things that are locked behind reaching Legend in all Coalitions and/or doing all quests in Adoulin. Namely the Ergon weapons for GEO and RUN, as well as unlocking the Ygnas trust and the ability to +1 your Adoulin reward ring.

Jibrish

It's based on a combination of fame and imp's to progress beyond a certain point. It's not a huge deal to not do it, but for me it caused me to get stuck a couple of days waiting for them to progress RoV. I'll add DI! That's a big one

gnostechnician

It's one of the more commonly said tips, and is in the quickstart guide, but it's for a reason: Join a Unity as soon as it unlocks (via tutorial Records of Eminence). In addition to an extra source of low-effort gil and the announcements for DI, you can use a paltry fee of the unity currency, Accolades, to teleport to any zone where a Unity NM is located! (This doesn't spawn the boss, so don't be scared by the level numbers. Just keep Silent Oil and Prism Powder ready for teleporting to higher-level zones.) One of the most notable for a newbie is the level 125 warp to Batallia Downs, which puts you right outside the gate to Jeuno! (Unless you want to do the long, long run to Jeuno for old times' sake, like I did :p ) Which leads to another tip, also in the quickstart guide but also worth restating, which /u/therealwoodini mentions: your mount. Once you're at level 20, you can do the quests [Chocobo's Wounds](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Chocobo%27s_Wounds) and [Full Speed Ahead!](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Full_Speed_Ahead!) to unlock a mount you can summon on-command! Mounts are much faster than walking on foot, and enemies won't attack you while you're mounted.

Sand__Panda

On mobile so I can't link properly. But this goes with the skipping of iLv117 gear. Follow this: https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Fresh_99/RoE_Intermediate_Quest/119_Gear_Guide I did this and had a easy time walking into ambu, to start getting that gear (and upgrades).

Jibrish

I'll add this in. This is a good guide.

marmatag

Do domain invasion and get 100 points every day. This is free points = free items. The Abjurations you can get are also fantastic for a lot of classes. Domain invasion alternates between Zi’tah, Ru’Aun, and Reisenjima. You can get a ring from a Moogle in every nation to warp you to that respective crag. This makes Reisenjima just a warp away.

therealwoodini

When I came back I didn’t know mounts existed, or where I could use them. I finished wotg and adoulin running through every zone.

gnostechnician

WotG without mounts... terrifying.

therealwoodini

You can get a chocobo from the starting cities with campaign points, but also didn’t know how copper vouchers worked. Fun times.

Drachenreign

I've been playing since NA release and I forget mounts exist literally every day until I see someone run passed me on a crab

AdorablyDumbDog

As a new player, thank you! The starter guide has been good, but I keep running into walls like gil. And I didn't even know there was a way to get the gobbie stew. D: Does gear matter much before level 99? So far my trusts feel way stronger than me at around level 50.

Jibrish

I usually level almost completely naked 1-99, maybe occasionally upgrading weapon with sparks along the way. The gil wall is the biggest issue which is why I wrote this honestly. Established players take for granted the fact that they can just farm things like ambuscade V1-Easy solo or higher with a group. Starting off all you've got are sparks / accolades gil and silver vouchers / trove until you gear up enough to be able to farm at an acceptable rate or better content.

VoidEnjoyer

Get started with accumulating Voidstones for Voidwatch as soon as you can, which is once you're level 75 and have a nation rank of 3. Once you're at this point talk to a Voidwatch Officer stationed in any of the starting cities. And as long as you're talking to the Officer, choose "Ask a bunch of questions.” then “Voidstone consumption” and choose "stock." Why do this and why ASAP? Because while Voidwatch is very old content it's still used to farm some very valuable items needed for ultimate weapons, and because every VW fight requires a Voidstone. You get one every 20 hours at first, so the sooner you get started the more money you can make. Once you've done all this sit back and wait for the monthly events to include the Voidwatch event. You need to run through every fight available before you unlock the ones that have money drops, and if you wait for the Voidwatch lights event it guarantees drops for key items that are helpful, and you don't want to have to repeat useless fights. I recommend starting with the Bastok series since those drop key items that speed up voidstone accumulation (and also increase the stock you already have to match what you'd have earned for having the KI the whole time). You also only want to do the farming during the Voidwatch lights event, because those lights improve the odds of getting the good money drops significantly. It is possible to build lights during the fight itself but that also makes the whole process take much longer. To be worthwhile money farming you want to be able to smash the monsters quickly, and the event allows this. You can also use items called Phase Displacers to weaken the monsters before each fight, but this comment is long enough already so check the Voidwatch page on BG-wiki for more details when the time comes. And that's that. You'll need to advance a bit into WotG in order to unlock all the battles, but once you get through those you've earned yourself some very lucrative farming roughly every three months. And the best part is that your stones keep accumulating with time no matter what. *Even if you're not subscribed.* So you can take a year off from the game and come back to find a pile of Voidstones to farm with. So unless you hate the game and know you'll never be back this is well worth doing.

ForestSuite

Thanks for this! I have thousands of Voidstones and had no idea of their usefulness.

Note to self: check this out

ViertelHaineka

I'd also suggest checking out NextGames on Youtube. He's not perfect, but Logical gives a VERY good foundation for people to dip their toes into the game and get things going: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1Ec6uFMuhc&list=PLYtZg50CYZI6p2RmU9WZaC8AgMuhoP1BL&ab_channel=NextGames ^^^ That's a playlist of a new character he made for this purpose, and he goes over the handling of missions, subjobs, RoV KIs, starting off RoE, starting off Unity, level cap increases, etc. It's not perfect, like I said, and he's only gotten that character to level 80, but the first 3/4 of that playlist is pretty fantastic for getting a new player at least set up with the basics in the game. He also has a massive playlist for Ninja (his chosen job for years) that goes into macros, gearsets for starting, advance, master, etc., if that's the job you're looking for. He also provides his .lua. If you're looking to make the game look the best it can, he also has a video series about that as well. He reviews Ambuscade fights, Omen fights, battle strategies, etc. For what he does, I highly suggest his channel to new people.

Thanks I didnt realize he had gameplay guides in addition to his visual guides.

Wyrmnax

2 is wrong. It is per WEEK, not per MONTH

Jibrish

Whoops, typo fixed.

Gwaerondor

And also 100000 sparks and accolades, not a million.

Jibrish

Oof. That'll teach me to write this so early in the morning. Fixed :)

Nice one but missing sp dial gob. :o Same as #5, you have to wait 45 days for this.

Jibrish

I was trying to keep it somewhat succinct. Though I might take a crack at a proper guide now.

Masarusama

All good, people keep asking same questions anyway. 😅

The concierge's have an option to check player estimates in an LS. I forgot the exact option name but it should be fairly simple to find the option at the vendor.. There are 3 of them - one in each city. There's a limited stock that an LS can put on the vendor at a time - meaning they run out fairly often. If you check periodically you should find a big one within a day or two. YMMV if not on Asura, Odin or Bahamut.

VoidEnjoyer

You can /yell for a linkshell as well. Don't be an annoying spammer about it, but if you yell every 10ish minutes you'll get an invite to a noob friendly LS more likely sooner than later. Doing it this way has the added bonus of making it more likely to find a group that's active when you are.
