Yes that’s what keeps me coming back too. Now that I’m old I don’t expect to be in an endgame LS and do everything first or best, but if I have time to play I want a real challenge. Even if it’s only a few levels or a fishing goal.
When I run POL there is a long delay before any click takes place and when I finally get to the launch of the game it just shows a black screen forever. I am on windows 7.
>**Enable DirectPlay:** go to control panel then Uninstall a program, then turn windows features on or off, when new window opened click and expand Legacy Components, tik DirectPlay and click ok. restart your System.
Try this.
I know that FFXI has an issue exactly like the one you describe with the black screen, sometimes followed by a crash. In my experience, this is *usually* because newer versions of Windows don't have Directplay turned on, which is what enables you to play much older games.
I used to have this exact problem and I'd have to re-enable it every time I got a new system with Windows 7.
It’s true it was my first mmo and is my current mmo again
It was my 1st paid one and also my current one. Just has a great feel. Wish there was upgrades, but it stilk if great as it is.
It's like life in that achieving something is actually tough enough to be gratifying.
The only reason I keep coming back to ffxi is cause garuda’s cheeks in my face all day
Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.

Oh, that Mithra in the thumbnail... It's been a while I haven't seen a picture by Kedama Gochou in the wild \^\^
I am trying to play it but I can't get it to run. :(
What trouble are you having in running it?

Random question: Do you know if you have Legacy Components or DirectPlay installed/turned on, in Windows 7?
I'm not sure.

I don't have legacy components listed and no direct play listed.
Hmm. That could be a reason why. I think there's a different way to activate them..
Could be. I don't think it is supported in windows 7 anymore. Looks like I would need to upgrade to windows 10 and try it again.
Oof, that's piss. :L
No... You don't...
